Interesting video! I'll be sure to check out the other retrospectives too. Just the fact that you're willing to defend 9 and 10 already sets you apart, tbh. I feel like I'm often the only one (among with a couple other people) ever saying good things about them on the subreddit.
While every critique to this game is fair, I really like playing it in the context of playing it while playing other games in the series at the same time, which means that I always end up appreciating how the allies and the personal dice blocks provide variety.
Though I'm sad about the boards and there not being chance time or duels or, heck, true battle minigames for that matter, I also really like the minigames.
This game and Superstars really suffer from the lack of content, imo. I'm glad that they exist, but what happened to NDCube's 9 and Island Tour 7-board-making capabilities? Isn't the Switch supposed to be able to handle a lot more game data?
At the end of the day, these boards (like the ones from 7 and 8 for me due to the lack of chance times or opportunities to screw the other players over) feel a little bit bland to me, while Superstars, despite supposedly having everything I like, only has 5 boards where the Lucky Spaces help you out way too much due to how many there are.
P.S. I agree with you on the VS spaces. They were stripped down for no reason, and the ones from 9 and 10 are much better.
And while Superstars did fix the battles, why in the world make the VS spaces disappear? I certainly don't see them doing the same to those annoying lucky spaces -_-

You hit the nail on the head. "but what happened to NDCube's 9 and Island Tour 7-board-making capabilities?". It's like the one thing they didn't go cheap on (aside from Mario Party 10). Truly unfortunate.

Dont agree with some of the recap specifically when you said 5 was the first to have good boards since two. I agree 4 did not have good boards but i disagree on 3 it had very good boards. The day and night cycle adds to 6 while bowser times does nothing but hurt it. It slows the game down and randomly punishes you for no reason unlike the day and night cycle. Sorry if i am commenting to much i just have a lot to share.

This game is good but suffers from a variety of issues. The boards are small and simple. Way too small. And Kameks board is so bad that it really only has 3 imo. The pace of the game is incredibly slow. No options like most titles to speed up CPU actions. Some things are weirdly not coded into the game. Like you can use the item shop on the final turn but you can still get items from item and lucky spaces which is just a waste of time. Having that animation that shows everyone being sad when someone else gets a star is played at EVERY opportunity holy shit. Like you said the economy is atrocious. Everything is too cheap and they still give you a similar amount of coins for actions. The minigames are excellent though i have no qualms with using the joy con. Its extremely well executed and the rumble is used fantasitcally. I'd rank this much higher then 9 and 10 but its hard for me to put it above most others. Maybe 1 & 5. At the time this seemed so amazing bc we were so starved for traditional mario party lol. But this is near impossible to come back to.
