    Tried to answer questions, comments - if I missed you or you have any. Reach out on IG or send me an email - I’ll do my best to get back.
    Mostly the bathroom shower seems to come up. The bucket is essentially what I had before, I use a big water jug for urine. Showering - biodegradable soap and rivers, lakes, oceans I’m happy with. I really wanted to detach from needing things, no fridge, no running water, ac or heat (heat in the dash) and stove if it’s really cold. I added a 5 gallon jug below the sink and 2 - 1 gallon jugs - big difference especially with a big dog that drinks a ton. Cleaning wise, hiking boots off at the door, my dog sheds very little compared to my last dog - a husky so I’m used to it..but if it gets a little dirty, I’m ok with it, I guess that’s why they call people like me dirt bags..I guess I can call them a clean bag haha. The point of the bus wasn’t exactly to live in it - more to just live - see and explore, hike - watch the sunrise, sunset, see the stars..I’m not actually in the bus that often. I started cooking a little more - mainly soups. Only other thing I said at the end 6.3 diesel - it’s a 6.5 (idky I said 3) also - they have these cloths for showing called Norwex - if you NEED a shower - you might not care, but they do a great job. If I was to do this whole trip with my girlfriend at the time, I would have done a pvc pipe on the roof for a shower for her but as I said below the bed there’s a solar shower bag. In to the wild movie was inspiring - I wanted to have less than the normal van/bus lifer - I’m obviously not a leathertramp or supertramp but Needing things was something I took into account. I wanted to have some struggles, I wanted to disconnect - the van life might be for a lot of people but the life I wanted to live..constantly explore, hike.. might not be for everyone. There’s times I go 2 days with 4 hours of sleep, I love this life, it gives me energy and fills a passion/love for the earth. Glad so many enjoyed it - sorry I chatted away for so long haha - hey I’m alone..it was a moment to chat!

      The last thing in the world I would call you is a dirtbag!!! I used to have a Mastiff/Great Dane so those of us with dogs know they are dirty, messy creatures. I got used to that so it didn't bother me so much, but if I was going to be intimate with a man I definitely like us to both be clean first! 😏😋😛 not😝 Hey now!!!

    • @goodliving2171
      @goodliving2171 Před 4 lety +7

      I'd cut a large hole in middle of deck to open the hatch. Buy lightweight telescoping ladder for inside & able to stow in home. This idea may only work for longer buses. This way strangers & kids cannot get on your roof. Also, that hatch to escape in case of flood or vehicle going into body of water. Hopefully you can fit through a window.😏

      yah easy fix so many options, inlay a shower pan under the floor boards, then have a cover like the sinks would, then a retractable curtain rod so it dont lay on the skin. Heck can do a full size shower to other side if wish. then i do a pull out toilet from under the sink enclosed to pull from bathroom side. drop shelf's metal? wood so still can use as storage if to even hang clothes to dry. get a dehumidifier. hand dry curtain with cheese cloth towels dries fastest no mildew put that in near and let it run. hang the towels. in winter its good to have. for the water get a collapse water bladder or camper jugs you can mount a shelf so out of the way and do gravity flow great over sink. and when not in use crush down and stow. so its like a plan shower and will double as water source for dog and you. sorry if scrambled looking tried to shorten it.

      One can use shower pan or large, strong plastic bin as your tub. Hang shower curtain from ceiling, that you can remove or retract. Place curtain all around you, and bottom of curtain in tub.
      You can have your shower outside with removable curtain.
      I believe you can buy a quick outdoor shower set up. I realize you want to do w/o as much as possible, but I want to let others know.🦋

    • @goodliving2171
      @goodliving2171 Před 4 lety +2

      You will get used to driving a bus just like anyone. 🚎🚌🚐
      Start out test driving a short shuttle bus in an empty parking lot.
      A shuttle bus is a better price than a van. A diesel runs for at least 300,000 miles and the fuel takes you further, which is why big semi trucks use diesel.
      The shuttle bus has large windows all around and large side mirrors for a great, safe view while driving.

    I quite often get appalled with those who decide on no toilets or showers.......but now realize if there isn't one, the person will soon realize that they would like to have the convenience of both, then make the adjustments or build a different van set up. Probably comes down to the persons age and and where they are in life as to how they want to handle the whole "toilet issue". If I were much younger, I could probably be fine with make shift. In the end, the bus is simply beautiful....really it is, and you seem a genuinely happy and content young man. I wish you well and safe travels. Always remember to be most grateful each day for your physical strength and freedom to roam the country. Time is precious and goes by so very quickly. Take care.

    I'm looking at a bus right now. The mechanic is checking it out today. It's a 99 F-450 church bus :) If it works out the best part is the guy who has it is a friend of the family and is going to give it to me! I also work for a custom cabinet shop so I will be letting them help me with the build. I'm trying not to get too excited until I actually own the bus. I still have to find out about title and insurance. The things I have read about Georgia ( the state I live in) ... it may not be an easy process to get it titled as an RV... we shall see. Happy trails to you and your dog. I love animals and I am an animal rescuer and advocate. You take great care of your dog. One thing I thought of that may help you and your dog stay cool. Is what about putting a black out curtain along the back window if you need it to help keep your bus cooler. I realize you have to keep it open while driving. But it may help when your not. I also heard of people using ice in a bin to help keep it cooler too. Yet I realize that may not always be accessible. Anyway great job and happy travels always. Thanks for sharing.💕💜💕😋✌🏻

    Shuttle Bus!!! Tall, white, built in HVAC system for the passenger area and looks like it belongs anywhere without looking like an RV. Park it next to other shuttle buses. Build a light weight aluminum deck, with swing down legs, that hinges to the rear bumper and folds up. Attach an awning above the rear door when sitting on the deck. Put a rack on the roof with a black rubber water bag. Put a round galvanized water trough in a corner with a drain out the bottom of the bus, with shower curtains hanging from a metal electrical conduit bent into a ring and you have a gravity shower with warm water. You can get one with a wheel chair lift on the side for more doors.

    As an dad more than twice your age, I really liked this video and how you explained what you were doing with your time.
    I am trying to convince my daughter to take a year off and travel before university. My plan is to get her a Chevy van or possibly a bus like yours and travel. I prefer her working for 4-6 months to build up some cash reserves and plan out a journey, while I build it for her.
    I would also prefer her to take a buddy with her for companionship and safety.
    I had sport travelling with a national training centre that opened my eyes to the world. Up here in Canada it’s $80 grand for four years of school and I would like her to have something a little more to go on than a high school counsellor suggestion based on her marks.
    I would most likely go with a short bus and try to get a full bathroom with a shower in there. Just like in an airplane.
    What ever I build, it will have to include a deck, yours is awesome. 👍👍.

    Actually, if you spray a mix of vinegar and water onto your dishes and wipe with paper towels it cleans really well. no issues. Save water, dont need soap which needs rinsing. soo much better. Needs doing straight away though.

      Great tip with the vinegar and water in a spray bottle!
      What ratio, 50/50?
      We should all use this on our dishes at home also to save water and time.
      I've been dipping my wet dish brush in baking soda to wash dishes and then a quick but thorough rinse, but I will try the vinegar. Thanks 🚎

    Very nice build. We converted an old Arnold bread truck back in 1972. Paid $400.00 for it and only had to replace the clutch. We had a chemical toilet and made a shower area in the passenger entry well. Used a round shower curtain rod and placed a large rubber maid tub on the floor. It would be easy to mount a "carboy" 2 gallon jug overhead. Jug comes with a shower knozzle. Just fill with warm water. Yeah Hampton, New Hamphire! Our farm is in central New Hampshire. Great job on this bus convert! ~ Diane

      @@barbibutton9619 I have a dispatch /connect small van,what i did for a toilet was build a box with the back wall of the box on a hinge .The chemical toilet could then slide out for emptying and refilling the top tank with water.At the front of the box i cut an opening to be able to pull the catch on the front of the toilet ,which i then used a piece of hardboard to slide over the hole when not in use .The top of the box was left open which then had a lid made to just place over the top,like a shoe box lid .Basically it's a square shoe box so your toilet is out of sight,no smells and doubles up as a extra seat with a cushion on top.All the best for your skoolie build from one 50+ lady to another,i'm now looking for a bigger van in the UK ,maybe cargo size with a stand up roof .

    Hi Jeremy, super bus and i like lots of the features you've built in. I like the simplicity of the goal zero if you've not a big demand for power. Could you maybe fit an awning across the back of the bus to provide shade when parked? I definitely wouldn't trade this for a sprinter. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
