- In today's video, Paul Drew and James Ivey from The Studio Rats are checking out the brand-new Joe Satriani amp vault from IK Multimedia.
This awesome collection of 59 different captures for TONEX covers all of Joe Satriani’s tones throughout his career. Joe Satriani spent days capturing all of his amps at Sammy Hagar’s Red Rocker Studio using an extensive range of lust-worthy gear.
Here is what Ik and Joe Satriani say about the Joe Satriani Amp Vault TONEX Collection.
Joe Satriani Amp Vault gives you instant access to the private collection of one of the most
influential electric guitar players. These 59 Tone Models result from Joe’s relentless pursuit of
great tone and commitment to capturing his favourite amps precisely. Joe handpicked each of
the 27 amplifiers from his personal collection, dialled in his favourite settings and captured the
Tone Models himself using IK’s Advanced AI Machine Modeling.

Fantastic playing
@@marramusic cheers
EXCELLENT...Thank you!
You are welcome!
Your strat has so much character!
Yup. Since SRV'S in my opinion.
Great tones, but how do they sound in a mix? I know you’re not doing full product demos but some idea would be helpful.
Here's hoping the the next artist release will be an Eric Johnson pack! Please make it happen.
What a great pack of amps.. Love Joe's playing and sound but this pack goes way beyond in my opinion. Gotta give it a try ....
Thanks for the demo. Across all the amps, most of the gain tones sound similar, like Joe's 'Cocked Wah' sound. FYI, he used the Colossal Mini as a harp amp.....
Huh. Huh mmm. Uh. You said “cocked”.
Intresting to see the Vox VBM-1 amp, which I own. Its based off the Deaky amp, amd has a built in treble booster too.
Wow!
Nice.
Frank Garrett?
Great sounds coming out of that pedal. Were you running the Satch amps through Amplitube 5 software, or was it just the ToneX software on its own? Thanks guys and I love your, “eternal quest for tone.” Does this pedal finally solve it?
Impressive how you've nailed the ability to make Tonex sound amazing. I have been struggling with getting my tone/sound to carry over into my pedal from Librarian then to Protools. Sounds nothing like your vids? Cheers to you clever cats..
The tones that come with tonex in my opinion are not great, that is why we created a bunch of packs.
@@TheStudioRats Thanks for the kind reply. I agree, the on-board tones are rough. I'll have to explore your packs. Why do the heavy lifting when already done lol. Thanks for the encouragement 🙏
I have to many options…
QC, stomp, nolly plug-in , bias fx soft tube amp room, waves, UA plugins , now I have this too… I don’t know what the hell im doing…lol
Hi thanks for the great demo, love your channel😊 i have tested the tones today and they sound so good and i am so tempted to buy, but I would just feel more at ease if these were officially approved by the amp manufacturers themselves. What is your thought on that. I believe that this is the future that amp manufacturers jump on board and also get a piece of the cake😊 cheers
Yes I agree. The amp manufacturers have every opportunity to capture and sell captures/ profiles etc, but there is more to just the amplifier itself. Mic positioning, preamps eq etc.
Thanks a lot for your time answering appreciate it. Ok so you are saying that when you Look at capturing you are Kind of making your own Sound and in this way one could say it is Not as if I would buy an Amp? And then also the fact that some of the models in the satriani collection are modded and in this way also unique and cannot be bought as such… thanks for your thoughts on this. Love your channel😊
What humbucker is in the relic strat? Sounds absolutely lovely.
Pretty sure he still has the Suhr Thornbucker in there. He made a video about it.
@@adhaskym.a9536 it’s a Cream T cream of the crop
Worth looking into for sure…have you had a chance to hear or tried the Tim Pearce bad cat ToneX model? Your red Tele has incredible sustain
@@garywaddell6309 I have not yet.
I have, and it's currently loaded in my Tonex One as my main crunch tone. Really nice.
The Glory of Digital Tones : Reminds me of Kidney Beans
Did they capture Dylana's Brown Eye?
I wonder if the Peavey JSX has any captures in this package. That Mini Colossal amp sounds nothing like the big JSX. Obviously they’re two different worlds as far as amps go, but where the regular JSX is probably my favorite amp of all time the Mini Colossal one was not. I hated that one when I owned it. The big 3-channel JSX is really good, though.
where the delay comes in?
Still waiting for Wolfgang’s capture of Edwards original Marshall. I’ve read the offers have been made and it will happen when it happens.
Do you have a link for where you read that?
@@dansomerville I read that on the Van Halen news desk.
both you and Jason are doing same Vid as it is Released :)
Jason?
@@TheStudioRats Yup Both are covering the same TOPIC as it came OUt! ...ALL Good !
@@TheStudioRats Jason Sadites (another tonex time partner)
I’m sorry but I’ve just watched Jason’s video and it’s nothing like ours. Yes it’s about the same product and his playing and style are great but both videos come from a different ends of the story.
@@TSR-JiveyTalksTech ok
These guys do good demos but I don’t know if it’s you tube compression but most demos all sound roughly the same . I seem to be noticing a guitar sounds like a guitar with minor variations. Which is good since it doesn’t make me want to go out and buy new gear lol
Grabbed the pack and been cranking it out through a Fender FRFR. Some new gig tones in there for sure, just gotta work out which ones! Too many good choices.
How do you use the sounds with a tone X do you have to download them?
The pedal has tones on it but yes you can download more.
So is there a way to get any of that onto a pedal board without needing a laptop to do it?
@@LysanderLH you can put it on the tonex pedal but you’ll need a computer to transfer
@@TheStudioRats thanks so much. Just found out about the pedal.
That's not what that amp sounds like though. I have one. You got closer in tone in the regular old JVM video
Ok. I bought the Silver pack already. This would be next. Now, where is that credit card? Where did she hide it?
The VBM-1 was a very solid state-sounding amp. Well, it is solid state. It has a treble boost circuit inside. It sounds terrific driving another amp. It takes up a lot more space than a treble boost pedal but the results are quite something. Even with something as modest as a Laney LC15, this is a usable pro tone in my book.
Lol the guy on the right is so not excited he's barely staying awake. Def not a Joe fan, not even a single Joe riff!
He's a terrific player actually. Very unique touch. See his other videos. 👍
Funny enough he’s my favourite guitarist. Passion and Warfare is my favourite and what he did on Rising Force was next level. Er.
@@TheStudioRatsI see what you did there haha
