If you think angle is the problem, then change the angle of your plate. This will probably only work with plates that are mounted at the top and bottom. On the top two bolts/screws, put a spacer between the plate and the vehicle. Something like a nut or washer(s). That will angle the plate down more and thus reduce the visible angle of the plate.
