"Safari" is a reference to the motel they stayed at when they were being relocated.
This is the first video I've seen of Quincy reviewing a hotel by herself (I've wandered away from the channel for awhile). She did such a good job and her personality on camera is really blossoming! I'm excited to see more solo Quincy 🥰
She also does solo land tours in the parks.
Her room tours are great! I like when she doesn’t get the best room/view because it helps manage expectations, and she always handles it so gracefully when something doesn’t go according to plan!
@@stephclarke6850 this general attitude is why I like this team so much. They handle disappointing and hard parts of disney so well
Quincy is amazing she has several videos with her alone . I agree she is wonderful
She's done a bunch . I think she does a great job her videos are fun to watch
$1200/day! That is outrageous! I remember staying there many years ago and it was $240/day and I thought it was expensive. Those old rooms should never cost more than $200. They have topped out how much $$$ they can swindle out of their guests. Its very sad.
Getting a chuckle out of her thinking escalators are an 80s thing!😁
Ahh, I was LITERALLY just thinking how I've been missing Quincy's hotel stays! Great way to start the weekend.
Great in depth review as always Quincy! I can't believe that room costs anything close to $1200 a night though!!
I looked up the rooms after this tour and this summer it’s usually more like $850, same view.
First, we need to thank the AllEars team for helping us have one the most stress free visits we've ever had in our 30 years of going to WDW (we just returned from seven nights at Bay Lake Tower and one at Port Orleans French Quarter). Over the past couple of years we have watched every video on the chanel in preparation for celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary at the resort (we honeymooned at the Contemporary in June 1992). Thanks to what we learned from AllEars, we scored every restaurant and attraction reservation we'd hoped to get.
We really enjoyed Quincy's review. I think we were staying there when she was, so saving the video to our CZcams library is a great way to capture it exactly as it appeared for us on our special anniversary trip. We enjoy the planning, the trip itself, and rewatching our own videos and reviews like this one. It helps sustain us between those long stretches between visits.🙂We've stayed in the south garden wing twice, the Contemporary tower twice, and in Bay Lake Tower (BLT) twice. Renting DVC points and staying at BLT was less than half the price of staying in the Contemporary tower.
Because we were so efficient with getting those key reservations, we found ourselves with a lot of extra time, which we used to resort hop to several other hotels on property. Coming back to the Contemporary after a day of seeing several other resorts made me feel that it is missing "something". We've always been huge fans of the Contemporary and have a monorail and a Contemporary Resort around our Christmas tree every year. And at one time our family room was painted and decorated as an homage to it. Still, and I'm not sure what it is, but something about the 2022 version of the CR just hits different. Maybe we've changed, or the CR has changed (love the refreshed lobby and Steakhouse 71), or maybe it hasn't changed enough when compared with some of the other resorts we visited. If I had to put my finger on one thing it might be the area between the Contemporary tower and Bay Lake. This time it just felt a little more uninviting and in need of some attention. The BLT pool area is newer and felt like it had a bit more energy. The pool areas at the Poly, Wilderness Lodge, and Port Orleans (both at French Quarter and at Riverside) seemed more like places people wanted to hang out in. Admittedly, not having boat launches to MK or WL/Ft Wilderness, or having the little two-person rental boats or parasailing on Bay Lake, present during our last visit, meant that there was a lot less activity back there, and that may have been a factor. I think the Poly and WL may be on our shortlist for the next visit.
Thanks again, Quincy, for the terrific in-depth review of what will always be our family's "home" resort, no matter where else we may stay.
I actually think the mid-century retro-futuristic look of the incredibles fits perfectly with this hotel.
FYI, when you first get to your rooms you need to either use the app or key card and THEN your Magic Band will work moving forward.
I stayed there for the first time a month ago. It was a dream of mine to stay there since I was a kid (I'm 25). It was beautiful and amazing and made for the best Disney World vacation I've ever had. Best Disney resort I've stayed at...I can't wait to go back.
Quincy looks so insanely gorgeous in this video 😍
This is my favorite Quincy video…..ever! What a happy vibe! Much ❤️ for your joy & thanks for tons of content….I’m on my way to the Contemporary in 2 months and will be watching this one a couple more times! 😃
Thank you Quincy!!!!!!! We’ve been hoping you’d cover this one! We love Quincy’s videos!
The Contemporary is my favorite resort and my dream one to stay at. My family and I visit every single time and every time we walk in I cry. This video makes me want to stay even more 🥰
Thank thank you for doing this! I can’t wait to stay here!!! Thank you so much for your help!!! Much love!!!!
Quincy, your resort reviews and tours are fantastic. They helped me with my upcoming WDW vacation. Please keep the vlogs coming.
Love your reviews Quincy, also I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for recommending renting DVC points with Davids DVC. My 2023 vacation is officially booked now (settled on OKW for cheapest points) and I saved a ton of money booking with DVC points. I love watching resort videos and have stayed at a few but now with renting hope to knock out more of them in the future :)
Quincy you are getting better and better at this. I love that you have kept your signatures (bed science, “see me do this” in the mirror etc).
I am absolutely obsessed with the Incredibles Mid Century Modern theming. It's a very upscale, adult sophisticated theming vs. a more kid friendly theming of some of the other resorts. So fun. And one of my favorite characters is Edna Mode, who is based on the iconic Hollywood designer Edith Head. She steals the show!
We just stayed here and loved it! I've wanted to stay here since I was a kid. The shower is the best. I don't remember it having a tub. One caution: those low side tables can be a problem. I left a bunch of stuff there, even after checking the room carefully.
The Contemporary is very expensive anyway, but I stayed in the Garden Wing in May and my room looked nearly identical to this one. The bathroom just had a shower, not a tub, but was otherwise the same. If you’re not interested in the view the Garden Wing is a cheaper (although not cheap!) alternative, and you’d still be staying in a really nice Disney hotel.
Quincey looks so fresh and gorgeous today. Getting a little mermaid bounding vibe. Her enthusiasm and energy is so high and engaging.
Thank you Quincy for exploring the Contemporary
44:37 Boat rentals…YAY 😃. I am imagining renting a pontoon and leisurely gliding through the calm waters (and keeping clear of the transport boats). HEAVENLY! 😌. We used to have a pontoon boat and loved it!
I’ve stayed there when I was a small child it was really fun to see the Monorail going through the resort!
🚝
OMG! Your best work. @19:10 you actually passed Molly as my Fav!
we got a free upgrade from a garden room to one of the fireworks view rooms in the main tower like you showed here. It was amazing! We were very lucky to be able to stay there.
This was my favorite Quincy hotel review. Can’t say why especially since the Contemporary gives me anxiety due to a fear of heights and that open lobby. I think her love of the hotel really came through.
I have never thought about the contemporary resort as a place that I would dream to stay at, but you have changed my mind 😭 oh my gosh! The park view 🥹 what a dream!!
Wanted to say thank you for this video!! I am going to try the California Grill to watch the fireworks:) thank you!!
I stayed in this exact same room back in November with my daughter Violet! So cool! It was the best view and we got to watch the Christmas party fireworks 3 times! It wasn’t cheap but it was amazing and so much fun, it was my dream as a kid to stay at this hotel and I was happy I got to make it happen.
I could never get enough of her smile
Love the video! Been hoping you'd review the contemporary
New drinking game: every time Quincy says “pretty” 😅. Love you Quincy!
That hotel contemporary is a very nice! My friends did stayed there before they said that they loved it happened before Covid hit. Myself never have experience stay on resorts before only outside from Disney but someday I’ll like to go there. Who knows? Thank you Quincy
The Contemporary is such a fascinating resort. The rich history of it all plus the refurb and amenities make it a must visit if you’re not staying there. On my next trip, I’m totally taking a day to explore all the MK area resorts
And you know we’re into the history 😉
We just stayed here in the Garden Wing and absolutely loved it. ❤️
I love the incredible theme room!!! I love the Edna pillow
Great video!! Would love to see a video on the sky liner hotels and maybe how to use the sky liner!!
I knew there was a reason I related with you so much. 🤣 I too am terrified of the dark. 😬
Great review! And great imitation!
Awesome resort tour!
There's a motel in the movie called the Safari Court and it's supposed to be a reference to the Safari Inn which has shown up in various other films.
The Safari Inn is a real motel in Burbank not far from the Disney studio.
This is my favorite resort. We visit every trip no matter if we are staying there or not.
My company used to have its conventions at the Contemporary. I LOVED the Contemporary! However, things changed a LOT after the refurb. The bathrooms have grown (with MUCH better sinks!), but at the cost of some space in the main area, so there are no longer desks and chairs. This is really a problem for conventions. For families, the fact there is no dresser is a big deal. I had to use my suitcase as the "drawers" and pull it out from under the bed every time we wanted to get dressed. This was a challenge with two kids sometimes. The drawers in the closet and table are not large enough for clothes for a family. The refrigerator is also a huge disappointment. After going to a dessert party, we brought back leftover desserts and planned to put them in the refrigerator for the next day. however, my daughter's dessert didn't taste right. We found out the refrigerators are only coolers, not refrigerators. So, really, it doesn't work well for convention attendees who need to work or families who need storage. Design is one thing, but a hotel room needs to be functional, too. We made it work, and enjoyed the fireworks view from the room, but I already know our company has moved its convention to the Royal Pacific at Universal. As for Disney, I won't be staying at the Contemporary anymore. It's sad, since I love the location. I wish they would put some of the furniture back.
Very good info going there next year
Great review Quincy! I feel like I was there!
Thank you ☺️
Had to watch 3 times cause Quincy in a sleeveless shirt is just flat out gorgeous.
Love these videos so much! Can you do a club level resort tour for one of the deuce resorts? Would love your perspective if it’s worth it. Thank you!
The lobby furniture is so rad.
Such a great tour, Quincy! Next time you do a deluxe or DVC resort tour will you pretty please check out the extended evening hours at MK?! We’re going in a couple months and are really curious if it’s still as chill and empty as when you checked out the EPCOT extended hours ☺️
We stayed here around 1991, end of January. I had joined a club, I think it was called the Magic Kingdom Key Club, a Disney club which offered discounts on resorts, food and tickets. We stayed five nights in a tower room about six floors up facing toward the campground. We had a meal deal, breakfast, lunch and dinner…total cost..less than $2k. Fortunately my hubby loved it as much as so we bought a DVC membership in ‘95. Yay! Now I have stayed at most of the resorts. We seem to never get to reservations in time to do the Grand Floridian. Goals!
If you don’t like themed rooms I recommend Disney Springs. Very low key on the Disney themes.
Great video! Love the room tour! Quincy, where did you get your tank top? I have been looking for one just like it.
That review had all the adult vibes (Room, Cocktail, Steakhouse, Balcony) and I'm here for it. Honestly, they did a nice job with the theme but I wish they had kept it classic and did all Mary Blair. That would have been in keeping with original artist, original hotel, etc etc. But, y'know, gotta redo an entire huge opening day hotel in a three film movie franchise, because that will get them through the next fifty years...................le sigh.
Yeah, I don’t think I would choose to spend my money there with that decor. I think it’s too tacky for me to spend adult money on (now if it was all Mary Blair…). If I’m traveling with small kids who enjoy that kind of in-your-face wall decal theming, I’m not spending that much money on a room.
Love, love the contemporary!! there's no desk though, that hurts me. the sinks, with the flat bottom, just bad. love everything else, such a cool resort. We go so much we sometimes get room upgrades
I *NEED* that Edna Mode pillowcase!
Always a fan of Quincy’s reviews but I gotta say I am loving your shirt. Distracted by wondering where you purchased. 🙂
Great review and tour Quincy! They should probably rename the Contemp to the Retro!
Loved watching an hour-long VLOG instead of the abbreviated ones. So much to see and all those details but a $5000.00 room?
100% an Edna darling 😊 Thank you for this video!
It was nice to meet you Quincy at the Reserve.
I had a smart tv in a 1 bedroom dvc villa at Jambo House. Spent a lovely rainy night casting Disney+ and eating takeout from Sanaa.
@36:06 The elevator bank’s 4-sided mural is 10 stories and is covered in 18,000 handmade, hand painted tiles.
I did the same CZcams fireworks music trick when we were at The Dolphin!
These are absolutely the best room reviews ever. So much detail and information. Excellent work!!!
I just found a great price for a weekend in August. They did amazing work on the renovation.
Well Quincy, i think you should love the New York Marvel resort at Disneyland Paris. the new thematization of contemporary reminds me a lot of the New York marvel... We are waiting for you here in Paris :)
Ahhhhhhh Quincy ❤️❤️❤️
I'd love to see a Quincy review of the Polynesian!
I stayed in it right before the reno and there were definitely some complaints I had like no bathroom counter space. I like the Incredibles theme. I think it was done well and not over the top. I like that they finally have counter space in the bathroom lol I think all the back wall details are really cute (closet and drink area) I also really like the little tables on the sides of the beds. Not all the rooms have them and it's great for multiple people charging all their things. I do wish they would add the smart tv's to all the rooms. I'm surprised they haven't with they way they advertise disney plus on it. Also my magicband never works either. Something about I have to many so it doesn't register.
Yay just when I was needing more bed science!
We do it for you folks!
We stayed at Bay lake tower and pulled up the soundtrack on a tv channel for balcony fireworks!
Wow the rooms are so much smaller.
I’m going to miss all the storage and the desk.
Be interesting to see what effect that’s had on the disabled rooms!
We’ll find out in 73 days! 😉
I know at one point there was a channel on the room TV that synced up with the fireworks. I can't remember what number now or if it is still a thing, but when you check in next time it couldn't hurt to ask the front desk. We used to put the channel on and leave the balcony door open and watch the fireworks with the music from the park.
Quincy in a like action “Incredibles” as Kahrie McKeen would be everything.!!!
contempery....contempery art...I GET IT!
There is a channel on the tv that plays the enchantment music in sync to the fireworks at the contemporary! I don’t remember which number, but they told us at the front desk.
Your quiz answers activated the Winter Soldier.😂
Smart TVs are in the Poly DVC rooms now too… since beginning of June.
Aw this was so sweet. I can sense Quincy’s nostalgia feels right through the screen.🥲💗 Nostalgia plays a massive part for most of us when we make these (often expensive) choices as adults. Theming takes a back seat priority-wise... Just getting to tap into those memories and share them with our own kids/partners, is why Disney fans are willing to spend the dough.💰Disney knows this. They be playin’ with our feelings. 😂
Your hair and makeup is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
😊
That room looks great! I love the detailing and the retheme. It nice that there is a lot of storage space! Great review🤩
Room for all the things!
Quincy- love the tour video! What camera did you use?
Great information! Unfortunately I’m one of the people who strongly dislikes the new Incredibles theming. I would love to have seen Disney continue the Mary Blair lobby theme into the rooms. There’s too much IP in the resorts now. We always stayed here growing up, I remember the huge arcade and bowling alley on the first floor! Now we stay at the Poly or Wilderness Lodge, more relaxing.
Would love to see a review of club level at a resort to see what it’s like and if it’s worth it
FYI, the name was kind of an afterthought: When Disney first announced WDW and the hotels, they called it GENERICALLY a "contemporary resort" but so many people referred to it that way that it became, by default, the official name as well. A similar situation happened at LAX in Los Angeles where this big spider-shaped thing in the middle with a restaurant was called in plans the "theme building" but the actual "theme" was never decided on and "The Theme Building" became the name. OF COURSE...your point about people's taste in design that this has a "Contemporary 1970's" look is a funny thing, since what was contemporary in 1970 is NOT today (thank God--or we'd all still have gold shag carpeting and avocado kitchen appliances!)
Didn’t they used to play the fireworks show soundtrack through a tv channel? Great review!
When watching this I have to remind myself that the price tag is for the resort as a whole (dining, location, history) and not just for the room. I would absolutely love to stay at the Contemporary for the Monorail loop and the A frame architecture :). That being said, the room itself is very unimpressive and generic to me. It’s giving when people buy historical homes and completely gut them to put in cheap fixtures and white and grey walls.
We recently stayed at the garden wing room that is the exact same design as this one for 1/3 of the price tag (400 a night) during Mother’s Day weekend. If you can, go during off season and not in the main building.
Same here. I've wanted to stay there since I was a kid. My Disney dream is to stay in a room in the main tower. One day it'll happen lol.
Safari Court is the motel the incredible had to stay in during the second movie due to their house being blown up in the first one.
Really enjoyed this review!! I would love to know the room number since this is a bucket list resort and I want to request this kind of view! Also Disney hotel pillows...where can I order these?
The Contemporary has totally shot to the top of my Disney bucket list after this video! I’d sort of assumed the Contemporary would feel outdated, but the lobby and room updates are just stunning. Major midcentury modern vibes, which I LOVE in my own home decor & wardrobe. Now the Contemporary is a must-do!
hahahahahah Quincy!!!! Take a breath! ;)
RV-I WANT TO SEE AllEars feature the Wilderness Campground for RVers. I envision AllEars exploring the RV sites and maybe featuring some RVers who are staying there for a Disney World accommodation. Personally, an RV accommodation contains all my comforts at a much less lower price.
Quincy!!! What are the pillow name you ordered that are Disney pillows??????
I love the Edna Mode pillow. I need it for my bed. Why would you not want a theme room at Disneyworld??
Is it possible to do walk ups for the California Grill bar and just have a drink?
What brand/kind are the pillows at Disney? I have been looking to order them
13:54 AWESOME lamp! Does anyone know the manufactured and/or model number? I want one!
For $1200, you should get a super suit.
Quincy?
Where's my super suit?
Request in the :bed science… blanket science! Those tiny blankets they give you in those Disney hotels.. all of them.. yes even the contemporary.. just not enough.
11:03 the first shelf of the storage cabinet looks like it has a hidden rear wall which is evident by the hole in the upper middle. I imagine the hole is so far up on the storage cabinet most people wouldn’t notice it. I would love to know what is behind there. I noticed it because I have a night stand that has one in a shelf.
