Mount Etna and Stromboli spew lava and ash as Italian volcanos dramatically erupt

- Two Italian volcanoes have dramatically erupted, spewing lava and ash clouds which closed a nearby airport. Mount Etna, on the island of Sicily, and Stromboli, just off the north coast of the island, began erupting the first week in July. Catania airport, the main airport on Sicily, was closed as a precaution due to the ash cloud from Etna, which showered the city of the same name in black dust. Meanwhile hundreds of firefighters were rushed to Stromboli as lava tumbled from the volcano into the sea.
Evacuation plans have been prepared for the tiny island - population 500 - in case the situation worsens. Italy has four active volcanoes, with Mount Vesuvius and Volcano, near Stromboli, being the other two. Etna and Stromboli are both in a state of continuous eruption but lava and smoke is not always visible. Vesuvius last erupted in 1944 and was the last volcano to erupt in continental Europe, while Volcano last erupted in the late 19th century. #volcano #Etna #mountetna

Campi Flegrei is supervolcano, like Yellowstone. Very very dangerous, but today its activity is limited to the phenomenon of bradyseism. Fortunately it is quiescent like Vesuvius....

This may sound stupid. But what do they think the firefighters will do? You cannot put out a volcano. Or have things vastly changed in firefighting? Or are they having the firefighters on standby in case some lava spews onto a house? But I'm thinking if a volcano is erupting probably alot of houses will be destroyed & it cannot be fought
I'm not in Italy but in my country Firefighters do more than just fight fire. They also rescue people and have the equipment to go into smoke filled areas and get people out. They assist in non fire situations too like when people are trapped e.g car accidents where people are pinned under a car etc. so as part of the rescue and evacuation even if they do not directly take on the volcano they are no doubt important and their equipment and training can help get people to safety.

@@luciac.419usually, they do move the flow in different directions, like making a road for the lava, so it will go the way they want. They use explosion to create those tracks. Search "Etna: L'eruzione perfetta", sull'eruzione del 2002/2003, li lo spiega benissimo

Vesuvio is a very different volcano compared to Etna. Etna is pretty safe. Its like dogs, barks a lot but is not dangerous.

Italy literally sits on a bomb, where few continental plates colide. All the area behaving uneasy lately, huge eruption not seen for thousands of years, magma chambers being full, the climate changes adding to it. Still Etna and Stromboli being nothing compared to Campi Flegrei - Ischia - Vesuvius triangle (all three probably connected), with a Campi Flegrei being a true monster that might be a threat to a whole Europe! Since the CF region's activity is constantly rising and a new fault line within caldera has recently formed, it seems Italy's future is doomed.
No wonder real estates are so cheap there.
If Campi Flegrei erupted it could affect more than Europe. It could affect the weather on the entire planet and our ability to grow food.
@@ajourney50 Sure, if it erupted with it's full potential but that is rather unlikely. Scientists came up with a statistical probability of each vei eruption. I don't recall exactly but the VEI 3 or 4 were the most probable...VEI 5 is also probable but less likely. The worst case scenario being VEI 6. But on the other hand...they also admit that they know very little.
The worst case scenario is the end times it's gonna make all your theories look like table salt. But you don't consider that do you? The hours getting really late you might want to bone up on how to save your souls. It's not a lecture it's just food for thought. Looks to me like you got your eyes on the wrong prize.
I can guarantee this you won't be here for any of the events you mention.
However you may be here for something way way worse‼️

Nothing new. It's not the start of anything. It started about 4.5 billion years ago. Literally been happening for billions of years. Global warming does not cause volcanic eruptions. Volcanic eruptions cause global warming. Climate change, AKA global warming/cooling, is a natural process that's been happening for billions of years. It's cyclical. The planet never stays the same. It's not supposed to. The planet doesn't respond to climate change, the planet causes climate change with help from the sun. Science has known all of this for quite some time. Well, before $cience became politicized that is.
