      Just an FYI - some of these blocks have been patched.

    • @mitzee8621
      @mitzee8621 Před měsícem +1

      Doing some (very) brief testing, some blocks that seem to work like the now patched Baluster Corner 01 are:
      Siding Burnt 01 - Has way less hit points then a full block would, but you can shoot straight through it and one side is identical to the side of a full block.
      Plate Bracket Centered - This is the magic block for now I think. Has full hit points and one face that is identical to a full block. Can shoot straight through it like it isn't there.
      Cube 1/2 Centered Confessional - Honorable mention. Doesn't have a full face like the previous two but you can shoot straight through it even if it is oriented side on such that there is no visible gap that you would be shooting through. Might be applicable in some niche ways.
      Happy building.

    This is interesting not just for turrets, but also has useful implications for powered doors.
    if a turret can track through those blocks, motion sensors work past those blocks as well. That could help solve the "two sides and one trigger" problem powered doors run into in a new and interesting way. I would be worried that cops will also see / spit through them though.

    • @WaywardEko
      @WaywardEko  Před 2 lety +8

      You want to know something that will blow your mind? Motion sensor can sense through walls :) It's the dumbest thing ever, and I found that out the hard way on my last base and had to rewire them because I was triggering the garage doors a floor above through concrete w/ a motion sensor. try it out!

      Also, not sure if you know, but if you place Powered Hatches on a block on the floor (vertically to one side so the hatch door opens down towards the floor and closes upwards, you can set them with motion sensors so as to make the sensor tell the hatches when to open up when detecting zombies, and place turrets behind the hatches. Since the hatches will be closed with no motion, the turrets won't have any line of sight and thus not shoot unneccessarily at either normal zombies, or stuff like bunnies. Saves a lot of ammo and repairs for horde night.
      I have the hatches, and electric fences operating all by motion sensors so when a zombie shows up, everything is powered up for an instant, the zombie dies, and I don't waste much power usage in the process, but it's like a bunker. All closed up until a zombie shows up and the bunker opens up and turrets start raining hell on them then the hatches close again.
      It's fun, should give it a try.

    I used trussing 3d in my horde base on my new playthrough, I only used it because it was one of the 2 blocks available in Alpha 9 to 12 that you could stand on and shoot through for horde base overhangs and now to see an OG keystone horde base component come back as a pivotal use in a horde base is kinda poetic.
    I didn't think to use it as a part of an endgame base to take advantage of its small hitbox, in fact I was annoyed when I upgraded a block I didn't intend to, through my trussing blocks. Will consider using these shapes as the weeks go by.

    Great video and thorough explanation. So I have a group that is surviving blood moon events BUT we get envious of all the loot bags that drop and then disappear. All that fat lewt goes no where.
    We have a bigger area with a pit for pipe bombs and blade traps, BUT was thinking about making the floor of this pit out of steel bars, then add two blocks below so we can walk around and collect loot bag drops by looking up (only zombie issues SHOULD be cops spitting and demolitioners exploding.
    Is there a bar shake that would let the loot bags fall through?
    OR is there a slopped block that would have the bags all fall to a collection point (kind of thinking out loud here) and collect the stacks of loot Bags from A secure entry point???

    • @WaywardEko
      @WaywardEko  Před 2 lety +1

      No blocks that the loot bags would fall through. I have seen people build underground fighting positions so that when the zombies drop stuff, it rolls to the fighting position where you can snag it. You can also do something like I did on my Winter’s Edge base which has two fighting lanes inside the base that you can switch one off and loot during horde night.

      @WaywardEko  Před 2 lety

      Cop spit is considered a bullet - so if you can shoot through they can. The trick is that zombies target you are the fastest way to get to you. So if you use that to your advantage and place turrets in flanking positions - it’s unlikely the cops will turn that direction to spit
