In this video, Dr. Bullock discusses oral surgery instruments. He shows you a kit and talks about each instrument, what it is called and what it is used for.
just watched this to refresh myself on the surgical instruments. I'm a DA and I have an upcoming interview with an oral surgeon. This was so helpful. Thanks
I had to have two extraction appointments. The first extraction was more complex. The second was simple. I didn’t see the tools the first time, but I did the second time. It just made my jaw drop. I was thinking “is that why dental procedures cost so much? Jeez”
You have to be our professour doctor because you described everything in very simple and great way ❤️❤️ thank you.. I am a student class 4 dentist and surely this was damn helpfull 🌹❤️ rather than the booring pics in the lectures..which is useless
if you need the best quality dental and surgical instruments, i will provide in best prices, we are manufacturer of these instruments Email: shaher.yar143143@gmail.com
Here, first time Watched, analysed most of it Ended up liking the metal music 🎶 you incorporated in this :p he he I am a 30 year old dentist and learning basics now. Recalling stuff Thank you :) for this video
I had total extraction ( 19 teeth) and bone trim in Aug of this year under IV sedation. The nurses who were doing the setup didn't try and hide ANYTHING until I said something. I am 60 years old and not much bothers me but when you consider what was about to take place I certainly didn't want to see all that being layed out on a tray. The lady said oh I'm sorry and turned her back to me but continued laying out the instruments. Of course after the iv started I didn't care about ANYTHING. Three and a half hours later it was over. I guess now I know what he used...........
Im 44 year old male and have 4 kids and a mortgage so I couldn't start school 6 years ago like I wanted too and dropped out of school 13 years ago because of working alot..My question is Im considering now becoming a EFDA and do oral surgery assistant or endodontic assistant as a dental assistant or LPN??? Any advice what's better for me being 44 male..50 percent chance I can in 5 years become a DH not sure about lpn to RN though..
I'm about to have my third Oral Surgery. I'm having it done next month. I'm not scared at all. Plus, I'll be asleep, which is good, as I don't like being awake, and feeling what's going on.
To be honest, if the dentist is good, you won't feel a thing. I had my wisdom tooth removed at the Guy's Hospital in London Bridge . It was a pain free surgery and cost me £6.80 ie. the cost of a return ticket.
Sai dental vlogs I always give local anesthesia. As a general dentist, I currently do not do IV sedation in my practice. I do however offer oral sedation and nitrous oxide for my patients. Case selection is a big consideration. If there are multiple full boney or partial boney impactions, I will often refer to OMFS for moderate or deep sedation, simply for patient comfort.
I Really WIsh You Could Assist Me However I Doubt If You Could Due To Our Locations and My Past Medical / Surgical history due to my medical condition I Was Born With

Just had 3 wisdom teeth removed (2 bottom, and the top right) 2 days ago was curious about this. I was noticing some of the tools my OS was using since I was on local anesthetic and not knocked out. Found this interesting.
All I need is a molar extracted 👁👄👁I went to the dentist to get it extracted and they put anesthetic n stuff and when they went to start wiggling it it fucking hurt they didn’t provide me with medication weeks notice and yeah now I have to wait two fucking weeks to get the molar removed from an oral surgeon . And now I’m just getting medication . I have an abscess and the pain has been going for almost two weeks I think I’ll just go ahead and die omg this is bogus. I’m 16 btw
“We drape a cover over the instruments so the patient isn’t fearful before the procedure.” But just leaves the anesthetic out. Because needles aren’t scary to people at all. 😂 oh they think the needle guard will conceal all that.
Christina Parker interesting observation. The discussion about best practices for minimizing patient anxiety wasn’t really the focus of this video but you have a valid point. I agree with you 100% that covering the syringes with a drape or having them out of sight is a good practice. Perhaps another video for another day. Thanks for the positive feedback! Have a blessed day.
I don't open up our Surgical cassette kit until the patient is seated. All surgical instruments that we use are bagged separately and only open up the ones that are being used while the rest are untouched.
Noor Muhammad Not sure what and where in the video you are talking about. Instruments can tarnish over time and corrode so perhaps some of the instruments used in this video are an example of that. All of the instruments are ran through a sterilizer before being used on a patient and sterilizer is calibrated and tested often to ensure sterility.
Noor Muhammad Looks like some of that is fingerprints. For the video, to demonstrate types of instruments, they were touched without gloves. They may just need to be cleaned better. They were sterile out of the package though!
Gold plated instruments means the tip has tungsten carbide coating which makes its grip stronger & the instrument more durable

I was able to work as an assistant when I was 18 years old. It would’ve been so much easier if I watched this prior to starting the job.
