  • How To Style An Apple Shape Body | plus size fashion tips
I've been getting so many messages lately about how to dress various body types so instead of trying to cram it all into one video I've decided to create a little series focusing on each body type. Today I'm kicking it off with my first video in the series focusing on an apple shaped body. Basically if you have an apple shaped body you generally carry most of your weight around your middle and apples typically have lean legs and a fuller bust. To make it easier I've also created a completely FREE printable for you to refer to when you're getting dressed and to help to ensure you own enough key pieces for your body type. I'm hoping these tips will make getting dressed a whole lot easier if you are an apple shape or even if you’ve put on a few pounds over the past year (as many of you are telling me).
Anyway, I hope you find this video helpful and I look forward to seeing you in the next one.

I’m an apple and peplums look awful on me, in fact it accentuates my middle almost sticking out rather than covering. Busy sleeves make me look wider, so avoid this too. I do agree with V necks and low scoop necklines. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Great tips for Apples/Plus size women, I’d like to add a few of mine: 1. Don’t wear bias cuts or shiny or glossy fabrics, they make protruding look bigger. 2. Don’t wear gathers on the body, especially above or below a large bust, they can make us look like we’re bursting out! They are fine on hems, etc. 3. Don’t wear tent dresses, or belt them with a matching, not contrasting, medium-width belt, this gives shape without emphasizing the lack of waist definition.

I use “Latisse” molecular name Bimatoprost on my lashes and brows. Love my long lashes and full brows. It’s not cheap, $120 for 12 weeks worth of serum and applicators but after the first 12 wks you only need to do it 3-4 times a week. As a apple I use all these tips and they work. Thanks for finally talking to those of us who are under represented in most clothing ads and styling videos.

@@paulaguerin4529they need to be wider to hide your belly otherwise, you're saying that you want the body of your clothes to be tight, and THAT makes your body look wider. You're trying to hide something, conceal something, and that calls for things to be a bit wider, so it can fit your body, not draw attention to it, and don't worry about the models, worry about the tips.

Thank you. I agree regarding the empire waist dresses. I previously watched a video on the same topic in which the stylist suggested tailored jackets/blazers and pants ( the opposite of what you said). Also I have had not so good success with high waisted pants (they tend to ride, roll down) as well as the peplum blouses (makes me look pregnant or like I have two bellies - cuts in the middle). Also can you feature models with apple shapes wearing these suggested outfits. Can you also address the different 'kinds' of bellies - the high and low. Thanks!

  • @jikookyizhanwujilolo9281
    @jikookyizhanwujilolo9281 Před 2 lety +1

So. I'm 5.4 and have a wide shoulder and narrow hips. Which makes me an inverted triangle. I've also got a short torso with double folded belly(1/2 of the length of my legs to be exact) . Empire dresses makes me look pregnant. Skinny jeans won't suit at all since my shoulder are wider than my hips. Although inverted with short torso are advised to wear low waisted straight bottoms, it's impossible for me. So, here's what I found suits my body type best-
    • High waisted straight/bootcut pants/jeans
    • Low V-Neck top without too much details around the neck.
    • No short fluffy or detailed shoulders.
    • Sleeves with volumes or details around the wrist area
    • A-Line bottoms
    • Peplum without shoulder details
    • Crew neck fitted tops or tees also go well with high waisted bottoms
    • No Empire waisted for me. But fit n flare dresses with elastic fit around the waist does wonders.
    • No ankle-length dresses. Especially on the front side without any slit.
    • For us Indians, no long Anarkalis or long kurtis. Ankle length palazzos.
    • Longline with fitted shoulders suit my shoulders the best. Flowy ones just make my shoulders look more round.
I hope this helps for those who have the same body type as mine.😀 Also, remember that you can wear whatever you want to wear. It's your body and your choice. But these are just some opinions from someone who has faced the same problem that you do.

    Definitely not mink.
What those poor animals suffer is a horrorshow.
I'd like to try especially with my vision just getting worse and worse as I age...
