Don's room makes sense because he just moved in. They didn't knock down walls to make an extra room, just squeezed a bed into the conservatory

Recently I've been slightly renovating a save with the packs I have to use as my new default. The Caliente was next on my list because I decided the reason Johnny zest is disowned from the landgraabs is because (in addition to his comedy career) he had a tryst with Nina Caliente out of wedlock and Nina disowned the baby, so now Johnny is a single father. I've seen others use this story before so I turned his trailer house into a 2 bedroom, with decorating priority going to the baby's room 🥺 I didn't do much with the Caliente house except for hiding the bassinet behind a divider in Nina's room

I always struggle to get side windows right, then I look at all the houses around me in real life and the windows only look "right" on the front of the house, the rest of the house prioritizes how it looks inside. I've tried using that philosophy in my Sims builds now too, front of the house windows will be immaculate, everywhere else prioritized to look nice from inside.
It's so hard to break the habit though 😅 I want them to look ✨ perfect ✨ but try to forgive myself when they don't. I've seen soooo many houses irl where the side walls have the most random window placements from outside, but it probably looks great inside 🤷♀️

same, i try to break the habit too! just looking at the house i grew up in, there's a side of the house completely devoid of windows except a small non-centered one on the second floor. makes zero sense from outside, but perfect sense from inside lol. i think the wonky window placement (when it makes sense indoors) makes the build feel more like a home

don't worry the fire is on the other side of the house from the chimney against an interior wall so I don't think they'll end up using it much 🤨
They need to invite simmers to rebuild base game lots, like they're doing with recent packs, and release it as a update.

I think its intentional for most houses to have that unfinished or incomplete look so that players can modify them to their taste if they do decide to play the goth's or caliente's character

I agree but I think in this build it was appropriate. This style of house would probably have an open floor concept in real life.
Yeah she doesn't branch out a ton most of her builds are blue town houses that are open concept and small
that's why I like Caryn and Connie a bit more, their use of closed concept always makes it feel homier

It would be fun to see you push yourself completely out of your comfort zone for the interior of the townie builds. You're not going to be playing in them, most likely, so they'd be a good place to play with colour and pattern!
Obviously, we all build to our own strengths and tastes, but townie homes are a great place to experiment, I think. Unleash your inner boho maximalist, pastel goth, or ultra-modern brutalist!

I actually grew up in a house that had interior windows! It was an old house that had an extension built onto the kitchen, so I thought don having that tiny room was just him getting a room as an afterthought since it’s what he deserves

I have a challenge idea for you.
You like renovating EA builds, and you like shell challenges.
Combine the two.
Take an EA built house. Remove everything BUT the walls. Windows, doors, lights, flooring, wallpaper, even roofing. DON'T TOUCH THE WALLS!!! including internal walls. Then build whatever you want with shell challenge rules, but if it's a townie house you have to build it for them.
So this house shell could be a bar, since they all like mixology.

Don’s bedroom is totally why I made the Calientes vampires one playthrough and Don their blood bag! 😂
Unfortunately Oasis Spring is very sunny and Don was freed because they one by one offed themselves in the sun when I wasn’t paying attention.

this has been my generational home since my family's complicated history involved the calientes and my ocs kind of um... displaced them, lol. it's slowly evolved over the course of like 5 different sized families moving in and out so it's nice to see someone else give it the full makeover treatment!
LOVE this builds, reminds me a lot of the homes that I see in Southern California. Great work with the exterior, I would have placed the outdoor eating space under the pergola due to the extreme heat - no one wants to bake while they are eating anything.

I love this build but I downloaded it and immediately rotated the pergola and moved the gate to be even in the middle of the wall. Table perfectly under the pergola, grill off to the side, plant at the end. Lots of room for lounge chairs. It looks so much better, the pergola now fits perfectly.
I think Don's room turned out to be the best room of this house. Everything fits perfect in his room.

Nina, Dina, and Don did not have fancy homes in Sims 2. This house is a big upgrade from their starter homes in S2.
To be fair didn't dons house have a hot tub and telescope on a balcony in ts2? I may be wrong
I always imagine them as not having a lot of money, but wanting to look like they have a lot of money.

But somehow it felt fancy/trashy because of the hot tubs and leopard prints.
I really loved that idea with the big round archways in the sunroom and the other rounded windows. I know it wouldve been really cool and "fancy" for their house.

Their house looks very similar to the caliente house in the sims 2, so I can kinda see where EA was trying to go with it

You should have a series where you make new houses for all/most of the townies (you could do just base game or other worlds) so when your finished all/most of the houses are rebuild

I just renovated this place last week, but now I wanna redo it in a different way. Except the pool/hot tub. I'm quite happy with what I did for those. Maybe I'll still come up with something cooler. Studying first, gaming later.
I swear I was screaming on the inside for the three minutes that Kayla decided that it would be a good idea to put wallpaper on dress where the kitchen is, and leave one single tile the same as everything else I thought she was gonna leave it like that and I was screaming inside thank God she changed it

i remember when i decided to play like with a young adult/uni student who moved to a new city/town and lives in a foster(???) family (i’m sorry eng isn’t my first language). so i randomly chose a family and it was caliente family haha and i definitely upgraded their house while living there it was so nice!
In the sims 2, I loved playing in their "modern" Miami style house
