Each song is special. All them bring out the best of the song they are singing. How can you choose? They are all wonderful! :) One of their songs highlights some of the men in the group - it's Disney Show Stoppers. It's really good too. I'm enjoying your reactions. I'm looking forward to more!

Kate Lott is the soprano blowing your mind. Jamey Ray (gentleman next to Tony conducting) is the genius arranger for all Voctave songs. you will NOT be disappointed with whichever song of theirs you react to. "someday" and "baby mine" are my personal favs of theirs. (if you really want to get emotional. #subscriptionsquad

I just love it when someone falls in love with Voctave like I have. Not that I need my opinion validated, but to experince your pure joy of being memerized and uplifted by musical excellence is so wonderful. It's not Christmas yet but you must listen to their rendition of "Mary did you know" Featuring Mark Lowry the writer of that song. For a taste of what the guys can do listen to the "Disney showstopper medley". Also "You will be found" which features a thousand voice virtual choir as back up. But everything they do is amazing so you can't really go wrong no matter what you choose. The man doing their arrangements is Jayme Ray and he sings in the group also.

What really put Voctave on the map is the "Disney Love Medley" with Kirstin Maldonado (Pentatonix) and Jeremy Michael Lewis is nice (30 million views). When you are singing that high you literally CAN'T enunciate as much as you'd like to. You can't stop the air flow to get the diction in without losing the breath support you need to sustain the note.
When I was in choir in college, my teacher used to tell the sopranos to go to an ah or ooh when we would go up that high, and the diction came from the rest of the group.

  • @martiwalsh4308

Welcome to Voctave : ) Great reaction! So hard to pick a favorite from this one ... I think I'd have to go with Colors of the Wind, Chrystal's voice is just so rich. And the first Soprano is Kate Lott; she is ridiculous XD The one who does their arranging is Jamey Ray, he's singing second from the left.
Pardon me while I pull up my notes (shuffles papers nervously)
My Personal Favorites: Someday; Prince of Egypt Medley; Carol of the Bells of Notre Dame; Christmas Waltzes
Some suggestions for songs by topic/singers depending on what you're looking for:
    Men: Disney Showstoppers
Bass: You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch
Male Solo (EJ): O Come, All Ye Faithful
Female Solo (Tiffany): The Impossible Dream; O Holy Night
Female Solo (Kate): I Wonder as I Wander (one of three songs in a medley)
Harmonies: Someday; Prince of Egypt Medley; Pure Imagination

Most Popular: The Great Movie Medley; Mary Did You Know; Disney Love Medley

I keep watching just to see your reaction to each segment and each musical eargasm. Danielle I just found your channel and I'm 7 min in and I'm already so moved by your reaction. I live in a household where none of my family really feels or understands my love and passion for music. I don't play any instrument but I have a smidge above average singing voice. I can sing well enough to be in a small vocal group because I blend well with others or a section leader in a choir but not as a soloist. Seeing you react and notice things that I see and hear as well makes me feel that I'm not alone. That others are moved to the very core of their souls as I am when they are moved by a small pause or precise placement of tone in a song. I guess I'd say Thank you for loving music and sharing your thoughts with us.

The gentleman looking like he is conducting is doing that more out of habit, from being one of the top barber shop quartet singers ever, than being the actual director. Kate Lott is THE soprano. So many songs in all genres.... The Great Movie Medley ( all John Williams compositions) Disney Show Stoppers featuring 3 of the men, Someone Like you ( from Jekyll & Hyde) featuring christian singer Jody McBrayer, How Far I'll Go, This is My Wish/ Let There Be Peace, Prince Of Egypt and all their Christmas songs. I could watch you simply turn into a little 7 y.o. girl seeing her 1st Disney movie and falling in love with it. Your reaction truly had me shedding tears. I have recently found Voctave as well and I simply love them. To my chagrin I recently found out they had sung in Dayton, OH last month and I didn't know of them at the time--I'm sick about it. A few of there songs I really enjoy are Moon River, Impossible Dream, O Holy Night to mention a few. I will be watching your videos and I have 2 artists you may or may not know of. First is David Phelps. OMG, the voice on this classically trained man is mind numbing. He has a rendition of OHOLY Night you MUST listen to. The next is Lucy Thomas. I believe she is 17 and is from Great Britain. Talented beyond her age, beautiful and genuine. She actually sings like an angel. Sometimes her little sister, Martha, joins her in duets. She is headed towards superstar status I hope. Please take a moment and listen to both. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Ron from OH

So you've discovered Jamey and Kate. We'll be coming up on holiday time soon so tuck a couple suggestions in the back of your mind to react to then: "Mary, Did You Know?" (for Kate-her last note is epic and has probably the most effortless talent I've ever heard in a soprano), "This Is My Wish/Let There Be Peace on Earth" (for the alto ?I think her name is Sarah? and CJ), and "O Come, All Ye Faithful" (for CJ). But another couple suggestions for now would include their versions of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "The Great Movie Medley."
P.S. And you don't even miss a beatboxer in this group, do you?

First, the Soprano 1 is Kate Lott. She is amazing. Secondly, the arranger/ composer is Jamey Ray. He is second guy to Kate's Right. The first guy is EJ Cardona. He is amazing as well. All of the the members of Voctave are current or former members of Disney's Voices of Liberty, who sing daily at Walt Disney World Epcot World pavilion, America. That too is an amazing group. You cannot go wrong with any of their work but to me, the absolute best are Prince of Egypt medley. And Miss Pocahontas sings I Know Where I've Been and it is one of the most powerful songs. Also check out Mary Did You Know featuring Mark Lowry, who wrote the lyrics to the song, and Oh Come All Ye Faithful with EJ leading the way.

    Hi Danielle-
Voctave has been a favorite of mine for a while now, and I’m convinced they are amongst the very best singers on earth.
Jamie is a musical genius with his arrangements. He not only does Voices of Liberty and Voctave but is also a Dapper Dan on Main Street.
In this medley of perfection I love how, starting with Kate Lott and ending with Chrystal Johnson, the voices go from highest to lowest. Ashley Espinoza who does the phenomenal Mulan was a world champion barbershop singer. Sarah Wittemore has recorded several albums and performs on her own, and I laughed when you said she should be in a movie. She channels Ariel so perfectly. Tiffany Coburn, the second singer (I Know You), has recordings of faith-based selections.
It’s hard for me to pick a favorite amongst these ladies, and in this number the men are no slouches, either. I put this one on whenever I feel the need to puddle up for a minute. It gets me every time.
And the astounding thing that’s hard to realize is this is an acapella group, and not one of the shitty beat-boxxy, weird harmony sort. The arrangements and the maturity of the voices are unmatchable.
I’ll finally get to see Voctave live and in person next month as they tour their holiday show. I’ll leave you with one recommendation- find the full length version of Voctave’s My Grown Up Christmas List, which has stunning harmonies and is led by Chrystal. Their version runs rings around Pentatonix and Kelly Clarkson, who normally ain’t bad at all.
I love to watch reactions to this medley, and you’ve got one of the best ones.

I'm no singer but have some musical experience as a brass band musician, and my disbelief at this group's professional abilities is mind blowing. Such a powerful performance from the singer's as well as an absolute gorgeous arrangement. Kudos Voctave and thx for a superb reaction video. Cheers Arthur.

When she says "wind" at the end of Colors Of The Wind literally sounds like the wind just blew the note away... the softness of her voice was amazing!

As others have shared, the genius behind Voctave is Jamey Ray (the second gentleman from the far left, singing tenor) who is the group's founder and the sole arranger of ALL of their pieces. He writes parts specifically for EACH SINGER as opposed to a particular voice type, enabling him to maximize the special gifts of each of his 11 singers. Sheet music for many of his arrangements is available on the Voctave website.

Thank you so much for reacting to Voctave. You are going to get such chills hearing their soprano one. Colours of the wind is one of my fav songs. #subscriptionsquad they do the most amazing version of Oh Come All Ye Faithful with EJ Cardinal who is Omar Cordona's brother in the lead. So if you would like some chills and some Christmas in the summer, this is what you need to hear
