Good work, we removed the bottom skid plate, intake bracket, throttle body and took starter out the bottom. Removing the battery tray allows a long extension and wobble 15mm for the bolts. No need to remove intake manifold or cooling fan.
Man I tried this to replace my starter on my kia optima 2013. I had very little trouble removing the starter. But I had to loosen up the manifold it only 5 bolts and there was a bolt holding a bracket. Only took 15 min to do that. The starter went straight in after 40 mins of struggling to get in the other way. This video did help me out. Didn't have to take the manifold off nor did I have to disconnect the water hose. Less than 2 hours done.
@@pledgingalpha9550 Everything went smooth on how to do it but I'm still running into problems I just did the spark plugs still no start now I'm wondering is it the crankshaft position sensor or the alternator can you help me
Ok I have a question I got a new battery cuz my car shut off when I came too a stop and didn’t turn on just makes one click noise and don’t do nothing Not double clicking just one click and that’s it. But all lights work fine everything just won’t turn on what could it be engine locked ?
I'm thinking about changing mine this week .... I have to pray it starts everytime I go out. Thanks for the video. can I send you a video of what mine is doing when I try to start it? I'm assuming it's the starter but maybe it could be something else. I went to Napa and they said a starter is 251.00
Good video. Kia had a lot of electronics problems that year. Show a video how to jump the relay before diving into this job to eliminate starter problems
My 2015 optima was leaving a light slowly and didn’t realize I the shifter got hit went yo neutral and started revving I put it back in drive and car stop running Car rolled to stop I pushed the button to on position all lights on radio come on but second I goto start it the radio screen turn off and if the air on it cuts off but all the lights on dash stay on but no start or sound
My daughter has a 2015 Kia Optima with the 2.4 L engine and I think it's possible that the starter will need to be replaced. The car made a weird noise when she went to start it and now it won't start. When you turn the key , the dash lights up but it won't turn over. I've seen another video on replacing the starter and I think your video is the way I'm going to try it. Thanks in advance and I'll let you know how it goes.
Hello. Sorry that I didn't reply back sooner. I did get my daughter's Kia Optima fixed. At first I thought that it may have been the Ignition switch so I had replaced it and same as before. Dash lights lit up but No Ignition. Went down to our local part store and purchased a Starter. My Other daughter's boyfriend gave me a hand an we got the Old Starter out and the New one in and it Started up with no problem. We had done what you showed in your video along with Taking a metal bracket out below the Intake manifold and the Starter came out , 4 bolts. Again , Thank you for your video it helped.
@@peralez2383 Hello. I know the feeling. After I had made this comment We actually Replaced Two Starters. After the Second starter replacement it did it Again. Come to find out the Bearings in the Engine we're Junk and the Engine Locked , Blowed up and KIA Would Not stand behind the car After they said they would and Replace the Engine. We were told that we would have to Pay out of pocket for the Engine Replacement at a Cost of about $ 5 - 6 Thousand dollars and that's Not including tax. Here's the Kicker The Prices were Not for a New Engine but for a Remanufactured Engine. What a Joke of a Company. Never Again !!!
I’m starting my son-in-laws 2013 optima Lx here in a couple hrs, i gotta say this is one of the stupidest places I’ve seen a starter, Prayin I don’t gotta take off the manifold or loosen it but with my fat hands probably goin have to lol what happened to the good ole days of just jackin up ur car n there’s the starter lol
very difficult and frustrating job, had problems with the battery cable not letting me line it up, finally removed the cable, installed the starter, then put the cable back
bs. literally just got done doing my starter and i HAD to take off my intake to put an OE starter in it. maybe aftermarket parts can shimmy their way in there, but if your going OE like me, your gonna have to that the intake manifold off.

Or is there something else that I'm missing it spins but won't crank
You may have connected directly to the starter motor and not the solenoid. Needs battery main connected to the solenoid
Sweet,do u have any more Kia optima video

How did it go?
I was going to pay 275 for mine but I found it on Amazon for 75 new with warranty. I had to go for it the reviews were great. It works so far.
Can you link the starter used for Kia Optima 2015?

Always remember too guys to disconnect battery first before attempting to remove the starter

I just did one because the customer said they needed a starter, I installed a new starter and it still didn't start...turns out the motor was locked

Are you from Philly
Looks same as my 2012? Just asking if you think its the same? And you sure no need to loosen intake ?
I’ve used the same method on a 2012 no need to loosen intake just patience didn’t take any longer thank 30-45 min

How many miles on the car when the starter failed? 2015 Optima seems a bit early.
80k miles
Got a 2013 just starting failing at 128k miles.
@@CM-un9qh I have a 07 Rondo 2.4 at 151k miles and starter/alternator still going, knock on wood
Got a 2013 LX and it failed at 147K

not true...I installed an aftermarket that was visibly bigger than the oem one, I removed the fan and an intake bracket
