Better to compare to Ono Shohei if able to win two Olympic gols medals and several world championships first. Shohei has achieved way more.
Shohei couldnt win cause hes 73kgs.
Sasaki is 81kgs.
I bet if Shohei competed in 81kgs he would take medal for sure.
Also his favorite techniques doesnt suit well vs overly large judokas of the highest level.

Sasaki's judo may indeed be attractive.
But the difference between when he is strong and when he is weak is far too great.
If he'd been more consistent, he woulda made the Olympic team, instead of Nagase.
But the reality is that he's never even competed in the World Championships.
He's the epitome of a player who is more remembered than recorded.
