  • I recently headed out into the mountains near home to get in some solo time on one of my favorite local streams. It was mid-week which meant I had the place to myself. The weather was perfect and the trout were looking up at dry flies.
I nestled into a nice little riverside camp spot with the truck and Four Wheel Camper Fleet model for a night. I woke up, did some work, then hit the river.
I brought my Sage 1wt setup as this is perfect water for a smaller rod like that. I did manage to catch a pretty decent sized Cutthroat Trout which was pretty great. Later that day I headed upstream to fish the mountain meadow section of the river and to try to catch some Brook Trout.
All in all, the trip was really fun and a great way to spend a few random week days out in the woods, fishing and getting lost in my own head.

Awesome! Love the camp site in the old growth! That large cutthroat was legit! Really cool drone footage. Great day on the river! Thanks for the video!

Thanks man! I appreciate it. It's so rare these days to find the true old growth. I love it every time I find it. Cheers!

Brookies are one of the prettiest fish. I love my one weight, but it has been way too long since I've had it out. Thanks for the inspiration and sharing.

Hopefully I'm making videos like this someday

Another great one! Thanks so much for sharing!
I'm curious what the story is on how the Brookies got introduced into that system.
The spots on the cutthroat were incredible!

Thank you! Greatly appreciated. The bookies likely got there from one of the nearby reservoirs\lakes. Yeah that bigger cutty was a beautiful fish. It actually surprised me when it took the fly. I was expecting a fish like that in that particular spot. I was wishing I had grabbed my net and that my 6X line would hold.
