by far the best performance live! I saw Pantera twice in my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything! That Moscow show is insane! Phil was 23, Dime was 25, Rex & Phil were 27. To be that good in front of that many people at such a young age is insane. The energy in the crowd is crazy. Phil & Dime had such chemistry on stage. The 4 of them were so tight in the early years. Rex is under rated by everyone. Man I can go on forever about Pantera lol..

Pantera was an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas. The group was formed in 1981 by the Abbott brothers-drummer Vinnie Paul and guitarist Dimebag Darrell-along with lead vocalist Terry Glaze. Bassist Rex Brown joined the band the following year, replacing Tommy D. Bradford, who was the unofficial original. Having started as a glam metal band, Pantera released four albums independently during the 1980s. Looking for a new and heavier sound, Pantera replaced Glaze with Phil Anselmo in late 1986 and released Power Metal in 1988. In 1989, the band secured a record deal with the major laber Atco. With its fifth album, 1990's Cowboys from Hell, Pantera popularized the groove metal genre. This video was filmed at The Basement in Dallas, TX .

They started in the 1981 as a glam metal band with singer Terry Glaze. After getting a contract they did three albums 1983 - 1988. Deciding to move to heavier direction Glaze's style did not fit in and was replaced with Phil Anselmo. They did album called Power Metal before presenting completely revised style with the album Cowboys From Hell. Pantera has been given the credit of being the link between thrash / speed metal and the then yet to be appear nu- metal. Also the term groove metal has been invented to describe Pantera's style.

Early 90s. Dimebag (lead guitar) was murdered on stage in 2004 in Columbus Ohio. His brother the drummer died in his sleep of cardiac arrest in 2017. Great band in their day. Inventors of Groove Metal.

Zakk Wylde was Dime’s best friend. He’s got a band called Black Label Society, he also played/plays for Ozzie Osborn. He dedicated a song to Dime called “This River”. You’ll hear some similarities in their playing styles. Masters of pinch harmonics. BLS has some good shit and definitely worth delving into.

    Hellyeahhh !
    🤠's From 🔥
This was the song that got
PanterA on the map right here brother !
Seen these guys tons of times.
PanterA was in the mid 80's as a Hair Metal or Glam Metal band at that time.
Until they got Phil Anselmo, the lead singer
    in 1988- Power Metal.
    This album- Cowboys From Hell
Came out in 1990, they took off from there.

Pantera formed in 1982 with a different singer. Their style back then was more Glam Metal/Speed Metal. Phil Anselmo didn't join until 1989 with the album Power Metal. you should do some of their 80's stuff. It's a bit different, but still great. This song was on the Cowboys From Hell album, which came out in 1990.

I had been living in Dallas for awhile already when this came out in '90. Prior to Cowboys Pantera was pretty big in the local club scene but they were kind of a glam band. Then this happened and they announced to the world that metal was alive and well! And every succeeding album they somehow managed to get harder and harder!!

Joe's Garage and The Basement! Epic shows in both places. They were great in the big venues, but I loved the pits in the bars.

This version of Pantera started around 1990, before this they were more of a glam metal band that started in '85 I think. They broke up in 2002, then of course the unthinkable happened in 2005 that made any reunion impossible.
