- Mr. Goodpliers heads to western Kansas to check out a collection of vintage cars and trucks from an old junkyard! They had been moved to the hills from a salvage yard that closed in 1972. Follow along and check out these rows of relics!

The 51 Belvedere two door hardtop at 11:17 must be a rare rare car. Although not a Mopar enthusiast I have never seen one before.

It's about knowing people almost every good yard I've found was from someone's recommendation in the middle of a conversation and it's usually in the middle of nowhere
Most good yards are either private and you need to know someone to get in. Or if it's a public yard it's in the middle of nowhere with no inventory

I grew up in western Nebraska and now live in San Diego the sound of that wind brings back a lot of memories. Never liked the wind!

What a great bunch of cars. So many straight and really complete cars. Liked the 40 DeSoto. Liked the 39 Chrysler too. Surprised to see so many of the mid 50s Plymouths on hand had automatic transmissions. A lot of good trim, even the Pontiacs still has their Indian hood ornaments. When you see stuff like this it really makes you dream about all the possibilities. Hail seemed to beat rust as the biggest problem with this group of cars.
Really enjoyed the walk around with you ------- The flat slightly rolling hill sides -------- couldn't take my eyes off of that either ----- very few trees -------- the rows of cars were ----- so ------ spaced out ------- like this is Kansas ------- got the whole state to spread them out ------- Really neat to see all the makes and models ----- as you pointed out ---- so rare gems too -------- Hope they find a home for all ----- Hate to see them go to the crusher ------ And you said ----- A Real Time Capsule ----------- If You ever see a '38 Ford Deluxe Coupe ------ Hood ----- am looking for one -------- Thank You for this Adventure ------ Will have to watch your next video to see which ones you got ------- Have a Good Week ------- Rodney

Thanks for doing these video's friend. They bring me back to an era when I first developed an interest in cars and their importance in my life. I was born in '51 and could name almost every model by '56! My mind wanders to this era almost every day as I work on building electric guitars and model cars! Please don't stop doing this as it forces me to keep young by making me use my noggin for more than a hatrack lol. Love your work. Joe.

You are absolutely right on the 63/64 Chryslers. They are almost the same but the easiest way to tell is the 63 has round taillights and the 64 has diamond shaped ones. The headlight bezels are different also along with some of the side trim. My grandpa had a 64 Newport 4 dr ht i learned to drive in back in the 80's so i have a real soft spot for them. Saw Joe has a couple in the rust ranch video from awhile back. This would be an awesome auction thanks for sharing it i appreciate all your efforts

Quite an amazing collection and after all this time there are still many tucked away. Silas was also there and eying the Chrysler. That was different from the Borg-Warner OD in my 53 Plymouth, manual from that knob under the steering column if memory serves

One day if i ever get into game development, I'm gonna make sure i'm gonna get every single of these vehicles and put them as drivable vehicles as a mod or whatever they could be in a video game..
I always had the dream of driving every vintage vehicle, and if i ever make a game, i will make sure that these vehicles here are gonna be put in my game as playable vehicles as a mod or whatever it could be..
In the late 40's started the B series which went through 54 . 55 started the C series which went through 60 for all Dodge trucks. 61 started the D , W, and C series pickups and trucks . D =2 wheel drive. W =4 wheel drive. C =500 through 1000, were built from 60 through 75. The D, W 500 through 800 were built from 60 through 77. The D,and W ran from 61 through 93.

What’s up with the captain’s side hunks cut out of the hoods on a few of those 1940’s cars( two Pontiac, one Kaiser)
I wonder if any of those old packards or other fancier cars had accessory motorized multi note horns .
Back in ‘71 I was in high school, and there was a faded silver Chrysler 300k with a single 4 BBL 413 in the back row of the C-P dealership near my house - we considered it demo derby material (and I was even a Letter Car fan at the time!!)

amazing array of solid project cars that could be brought back to life i loved the ambassador also if you look at the passenger side of the vista cruiser the patina on the rear door looks like either Jerry Garcia or Jimmy Hendricks!! I saw an ad for the '55 Olds at 31:46 about 3 years ago. He said that car was low miles, and ran good when parked there, but it had been through 3 tornados and 5 demolition derbies. Price was good, but I passed on it because of the distance for me and chance of engine being stuck. Looking at the background, I just knew it was the place where this car was.
Just looked at it. Not in good shape any more.

Vega may have been the only car in its time to offer a sedan delivery.

My Dad who recently passed had a 4 door hardtop LeSabre with the 455. He really loved that car, and offered it to me. But I turned it down. If I'd accepted it might have helped to straighten out some of the big wrinkles in our relationship. It shocked me to see that car in your video.
I could use the flag and the Corvair sign of the 62 Cirvair. Mine is broken in half. It is easy to spend more than a car is worth on trims and other spare parts.
Specially if you try to save and early Corvair. Unforunately they will never be valuable.
Can any of them be restored or are they just forever just fields decoration’s to look at.
I guess the 53,54,and 55 Pontiacs could bee sold at Pontiac Chieftain club on Face Book ?
The 53 is looking good but missing the hood ornament if it`s not in the car and missing taillights can bee fund aftermarket .

They're out in the middle of nowhere. Why is it always sell sell sell ? After a while, collections like this won't exist.
Because humans like to hoard things and when you have the space to people do. I don't have a lot of room so I limit myself to 2 projects I have a friend who lives on a 12-acre farm and he owns 25 projects because he has the space I think it's stupid but it's his money his time and his land

Hard to tell if that mangled 1973 Buick {shown at 8:40} is a LeSabre or a Centurian. The Centurian was only made from '71 to '73, & priced between the LeSabre and Electra.
All 3 models had different grills. As for the Estate Wagon, 1973 was the only year which it had a grill which was not shared with other models.
Kaiser is a 1951
My brother used to "borrow" my old Ford to pickup his girlfriend. I would meet them at the fire station and we would swap cars again , him and her into his car. The reason for the swaps was that her father would not let her date anyone with a Hudson.
(With the front seats slid all the way forward, the back seat flipped down this made a bed from dashboard all way back into trunk !!!) Hudson even advertised this feature for family camping.
I think I read somewhere that Henry Ford made the back seats smaller because of that kind of thing. lol
I knew Nash had that feature but didn't know Hudson had it too.

theres like no oldsmobiles..1...people didnt junk them..they were gems...or the ones out there were plucked early...
good video for sure thanks for that but you can tell there is not much worth a lot of money in the cars thats left and has been picked over for sure.lots of old 4 doors that nobody wants and other trucks thats not owrth much.few here and there but you can tell the yard is just left overs.
