I love how you guys take care of these big cats, you rescue them, feed them, take them to the vet and release them👍
they can't release the cats into the wild- they don't know how to hunt and are too reliant/trusting of humans, they'd die on their own :-(

We are only able to rehab and release native bobcats in our Rehab Bobcat Program.

Thank you BCR for taking such good care of the cats :) it's awesome to be a part of it as a donator even though I live far away. It might not seem like it but 5, 10 dollars a month is significant to the great job these people do. Someday I'll definitely be visiting.

Great video. Didn't Amanda Tiger once wake up from sedation while on the vet's table? It seems like I heard that somewhere.
She did not wake up. We actually almost lost her on the table due to complications.

I think there are at least 9 at the moment. The video shows clips of some of them. The last was Keisha (with the missing tail). Then there's Priya, Andre, Amanda, Hoover, Seth, Gabrielle, Kali, and Zabu (the white). I hope I didn't forget anyone. :) They recently lost Zeus, Arthur and Andy. (Due to old age and illness - some of them are very old, over 20 years.)

I like these teaching videos. When the cat wakes up they'll have all of the humans who touched scents on their fur, which they probably like due to being comfortable and attached to their keepers. Although they may isolate the scent of the one who darted them even though absolutely needed for their own good. They may wait around for few days, filling up on water and sniffing the air in hope that scent will walk by to get a tiger pay back shower.

It would be cool if there were 1 size fits all nonrebreather masks for the big kitties.
If you are referring to the tube in the mouth, one is supplying the gas/oxygen and the small one is short and attached the the main tube. The is an adapter to supply air to inflate the intubation tube.
@@bigcatrescue yes. To me of my knowledge. The name given is the kings airway. Deviced that directly gets air (98-100 spo2) into the lungs. Its different looking for animals im assuming.

How long does it take the sedation to work?
The initial sedation takes anywhere from 5-15 minutes. Putting them on gas maintains sedation.

What if the tiger is sedated then it falls down but it’s still aware of what’s going on, how can you guys tell?
Yes, that is why we are always monitoring their blood pressure and heart rate during sedation.

Have any of you big cats ever had problems with their claws? since obviously you cant trim them like with pet cats! how do their claws not overgrow?
Yes. Some of the older guys that do no sharpen their claws can get overgrown, or they were given a botched declaw and they grow back abnormally. We will sedate them to fix it. czcams.com/video/9PGFCA5IIe0/video.html

I wish this weren't necessary, that humans didn't have to clean up the mess made by other humans who make it nearly impossible for these beautiful animals to live the lives they should live in the wild -- but it's a good thing you are there and willing to do that job.

I'd love to touch a tiger's fur. I think the only ethical time to do that would be during sedation. That'd be a once in a lifetime thing I would think. Just like your previous vids said, those baby tiger petting zoos aren't good for them.
