I just got one and and it seems to work fine but when I plugged it in to charge the red light starts blinking (3 blinks, a pause, 3 blinks, a pause). Is that normal? I have it plugged into my Aviva Power Bank and it shows it to be pulling about 18 to 20 watts so it's definitely doing *something* but the Instruction Manual is useless; it barely mentions charging at all.

You would need an hdmi av adapter and hard wire it. Or i have a firestick installed, and you can mirror it to firestick
