Osoto gari bjj stance

  • Osoto gari BJJ stance variation. I like to cut the hand completely but you can do it from a simple positional advantage. The takeaway from this video should be, to keep the barrier and have head control the entire time. If the opponent can stabilize themselves vertically, they can go for a nasty pick up.

I use this one quite a bit vs BJJ guys, I find by hooking that leg in early it prevents them pulling guard. leaving it there vs a Judoka would be a bad idea but vs a BJJ guy I have the confidence to hop around for as long as I like, also if the get their leg back you can turn in for a forward throw. I like to do this off a one sided grip

Awesome. It works great with a one sided grip like you said. Like cross collar. and if it fails, you can rip a savagae seoi otoshi off of it.

    • @Shigashi84

The main set up for low squat opponents should be the snap down. If they give you the right reaction, then ouchi would be great.

Sensei Higashi. What are your thoughts on the opponent kind of slipping his head under your arm to the opposite side as defense move? because i already know this version of osoto gari (my favourite throw). But im bjj player and in bjj my opponents just go lower with their head and under my arm and reset their posture on the other side of my arm. This prevents me from pushing them on the side i wanna go for the throw...Currently i'm working on my tomeo nage as a counter to their ducking under. Sometimes i can get it done, but its hard. Im thankful for every advise....
