When I took Judo in the late 90s, I made it to green belt in about 6 months. However, I grew up wrestling guys all time doing horseplay and I had a guy show me Osoto-gari in the 9th grade and another guy show me a bear hug trip in the 10th. I used the Osoto-gari on a green belt on my first day to class. I threw him down four times in a row and he never came back after that day. He should have asked me how I was able to take him down so easily. I regret that he quit if it was due to me.

Love this grip. Sets up the collar drag for BJJ, also a standing loop choke if you're into that kind of thing. Arm drag is more accessible, etc.

As a father and a 30+ years judo student, I found myself in an unusual place where my kids only wanted to learn judo from me, and not from my teacher. Up until I was still learning with my teacher. I took them to him and they didn't connect. So I teach them myself and focusing more on self-defense.

Can you do a ko soto gake or front uchi mata from this 2 hand break set up? Instead of a hip throw you do a front uchi Mata when you step on the inside like in the video, or step outside into a ko soto gake?

I trained 11 years in judo and I started to practice only one move 5 years in and I have won 4 Nationals with that same move, decided to go into wrestling, I won 3 state championships with that one move, that one move was Kochi Goruma
