I was the biggest Mannequin nut. I'd rent that movie every single weekend! My sister just sent me this video, which was extra intriguing as I now live in Philadelphia. Definitely going to have to check some of these locations!
I was at the store when they were filming the last chase scene (the one where G. W. Bailey is yelling "Switcher!") . My mom went shopping and I decided to watch them film. I was amazed at how long it took to get one shot done. The one 2 second scene with them pushing over the clothes took at least an hour. I remember G.W. talking to some of the onlookers between takes. In the scene when James Spader knocks the packages out of the womans arms on the steps, I found out later that she was my friends girlfriends mom. Cool memories
Yeah, me and my wife loved that movie as kids that our official wedding song was the same wedding song from the end of that movie, "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". We thought that movie was so great and that song was so romantic! I loved that you made this video - I hope someday to visit the same locations, just to reminisce!
This gives me a great feeling of melancholy. I used to watch this movie all the time with my sister when we were young. Pop in the VHS, rewind it, hit play and adjust the tracking. Have not seen it since, nearly 30 years later and I still remember all the scenes you showed here. We would cycle between this movie, goonies, the never ending story, short circuit, indiana jones, who's that girl, the princess bride, back to the future, romancing the stone....haha all the 80's classics
One of my favorite movies. Came out in 1987 when I was going through Army A.I.T. in Huntsville, PA. This movie was certainly a reminder of home and helped me keep my spirits up during my military training at the time.
I know my comment is late but I just wanted to say, "Thank you so much for putting so much effort into trying to find these locations. Your time is greatly appreciated for what you did and shared with us fans! Thank you. Thank you!"
I've never watched the movie Mannequin. I like all of Dan Bell's content and just randomly happened to watch this video. Then I see Boscov's in Camp Hill, PA, which is not far from where I live. I've stepped foot in that store many times in the last 27 years and never knew there was a movie filmed there. I will now share this video with a lot of other people who know that Boscov's as much as I do.
WoW Dan, talk about a trip down memory lane!! I Love this movie and truly do miss the era of which it was made in. I had such a fun & wonderful time back in the 80's and wish things could be like that again..but.. unfortunately, they can't ): But hey, thanks again for such an awesome time with this great video (:
I used to work around The Camp Hill Mall during the filming of Mannequin i got to see that bright fuscia limo pulling up in front of Boscov's as that scene was being filmed.I also saw other scenes being filmed as well..thanks for the visit down memory lane
I love the analysis to discover the location of the shots. I used to do something similar with aerial photos of the WW2 landing strips in my home county. I was able to find some lost landing strips by matching up imprints left by mud holes, centuries old.
Thanks for this video. Mannequin is noteworthy to me for having the Starship song Nothings Going To Hold Us Back. I go back to my childhood when I hear that song
thanks for posting this dan , one of my favourite films i was 16yrs old , now 46 . a great trip down memory lane . thanks for all the hard work you must have done to put this together
This is life! Thank you for doing this and o am so glad that everything is still open. I grew up in NE Ohio and also loved your piece on rolling acres. Spent many a day in that mall.
Fantastic! I used to live in Camp Hill and my family went to this mall (and the 40 other nearby malls) pretty regularly. Really great to see some modern day footage. I only wish you had gotten some footage of my creepy old elementary school in that area before it was torn down.
I know it'a two years too late, Dan, but if you go to the Gallery mall (or the Fashion District as it's called now) in Philadelphia, there's a shop in there called South Fellini that has one of the original Kim Catrall mannequins inside. The owners were gifted it by a friend who apparently worked on the movie. It made the news and everything.
Manniquin is a great Movie. And yes. Certain Part of Certain Scenes is still left over after 31 years. Great Video. As well Glimpse of Macy.s . That was probably even more fun for the Residents living in Philly at the time. Witnessing the Making of Manniquin at the time
I salute you man, thanks for taking the time to show us this video...im a fan of this movie and its nice to see where certain scenes happened at and how those scenes look today.
I am one of, if not, THE ultimate Mannequin fan!! This video makes me so incredibly happy, thank you! I am so impressed with the research and attention to detail in this video. I can't wait to go on the same pilgrimage to see all of the sites, thanks to your efforts! My only disappointment is too bad you couldn't sneak into the utility hallways at Boscovs to show the ending scenes, lol! But this is truly amazing!
+carlosupremefan the ending scene was actually shot in the trash room at the Gallery Mall in downtown Philly. I tried to get permission but they wouldn't let me down there. I even tried to sneak down and got caught and asked to leave. I wanted to see it so badly. Lol.
I was there when they filmed at the Boscovs mall. Completely by accident. I was about 12 and walked into the store completely unaware. I remember seeing a german shepard and people running. They finished that take and told me just to stay in the clothing rack area. I had andrew mccarthy slide right past me in bowling shoes and guards chasing him. I had no idea who any of them were. Anyway. Thats my story. LOL
OMG Dan I loved Mannequin watched it all the time on HBO. This was such a fun watch and to see many things are still the same thanks for this great fun video.
Mannequin was one of those movies that makes those of us who grew up during those times long for the 1980's. If I could go back in time.... Things are changing so fast, and not for the better. Thanks for posting, Dan. And thanks for your Dead Mall series which is an excellent ontological record of a bygone era.
This is a great video. Thanks for taking the time to make it. I lived near Boscov's during the filming and we actually saw the "You heart Illustra" cardboard signs while shopping there. The movie folks offered the employees the opportunity to be extras.
This was one of my all time favorite movies, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video, thanks for all the time and effort you put into it. If I go to Philly I know where i'll be stopping for coffee.
Thank you Dan for doing this video. It was my mom's favorite movie. And mine too. As long as the memories are in our heart and soul the malls will never die.
This one will always hold a place with me! Thanks for all your content. Fan from dead mall series thank you Dan you deliver different from other channels. Take Care
Just watched this film for the first time today. I saw the footage from it being used in some vapourwave/New Retro Wave music and decided to watch the film. It was silly, but it was good fun! It was really interesting to see that a lot of the fixtures and fittings from so long ago are still in place today.
My mom used to take me shopping all the time in Wanamaker's when I was little. You're right about it being a beautiful store. You showed the organ, but I wish you would've shown the eagle sculpture in the grand court! I think by the time Mannequin was filmed there was only a few floors left for shopping.
Thank you so much for creating this video! I just re-watched Mannequin this morning and hit the web to see what the locations looked like today. This video was awesome and makes me want to plan a trip to PA!
Very cool video me being from Phila every time I shop in Macy's aka the John Wanamaker building I always think of the movie mannequin one of my favorites . It's cool to see the other store as well which was called illustra in the movie
Great video. The Boscov's store is largely as it was in 1987. Boscov's just bought the camp hill location when they filmed it. I literally work 3 blocks from here and pass the store daily. I will have to take pictures of it for you at night, it actually still looks kinda cool,
This was one of the best videos I have ever watched on CZcams...I really mean ever! Dan, I have been a faithful fan of your DeadMall Series and I watch and re-watch it all the time. I have to admit I tried to watch your other Dirty Series and they are too gross for me, and I'm afraid I'll never be able to vacation anywhere if I continue to watch them (I'm sorry). Then today, I come across your EPIC MANNEQUIN VIDEO! You just simply ROCK! For all the Mannequin die-hard fans out there, we thank you! I have been loving that movie since it came out and I was only 12 (hard swallow at today's age number however), but it always made me want to experience something like that. I always thought it was possible, too, since my late uncle was the lead window dresser in New York at I. Magnin department store. I've had a fascination of that career choice all my life. To see the the update spots on one of my all-time favorite movies...coolest thing ever. I swear we should organize a Cult Party. You're in Pennsylvania....I am a couple states west of you....I bet carlosupremefan would travel anywhere.....lol....could be a possibility. Long live the Mannequin fans! Thanks again Dan! x
Dan, I watched this video a few months ago and loved it, then discovered your abandoned shoots more recently through a completely different route, not even thinking it was the same person.... spooky!!... Fantastic work.
The movie that introduced my awfully young self to fleeting love and magic. I recently spent days watching Rumble in the Bronx and matching its Vancouver location scene for scene on google earth and on foot... A project I should have filmed. Good job!
Loved the behind the scenes footage of the locations of one of my favorite movies!! Ever think of doing a location movie for Fast Times At Ridgemont High??
This has been my favourite film since I was tiny this video is so amazing I always wondered where it was filmed I need to book a trip to philadephia!!! Amazing you're a superstar thank you xx
This is Dan Bell. very good video's you do. maybe next Filming location of Dirty Dancing in Virginia ? ;) you explain very good all your video's, not to much soundeffects and try to make shocking moments. Thanks man to let your video's pure. i click for Abo, cool that Adam the woo looks also your video's ...you have to watch his filming locations
Dan........ I salute you bro ! I was wondering if anyone made a video of the filming locations for Mannequin. I wish it was longer but I'm very pleased with the 11 mins you gifted us with. Your channel is by far the best CZcams channel in my opinion. Keep up the great work my friend!!
I remember when this was done, now there's no mall left at the Boscov's, Taken and turned into stores.. It was really cool to see this video.. Thank you for doing this..
A little late to comment on this but I loved this movie as a kid and thanks for the great video. Also only just discovered your channel and really enjoying it. Thanks!
I've always made it a point to look at the "MALL" sign when I'm in the Camp Hill Boscov's. If I close my eyes for just a moment, I can still picture the mall beyond the wall.
this was a fun video! I remember exactly the first time I saw Mannequin at the theater. I've had that movie in my movie collection for a very long time.
A very unexpected find in amongst the mall videos but a great find. Love that movie, watched it more times than I can remember, I so want to sit in that Starbucks window! Maybe one day! Thank you
Omg Mannequin! I love that movie. I haven't seen it in years. Thx to you Dan, I'll be watching it this weekend. That being said, excellent inside the location of the film episode. I had no idea the movie was filmed @ the Macy's in Philly. I always planned on visiting the Philly Macy's location, but since my local Macy's in the one in the Herald Square taking the trip wasn't high on the list. However, I will have the chance to visit the Macy's store in Philly before Black Friday. I'll be in town for business and I'll make a point to visit the store before I head out. While I shop, I'll check out the film spots highlighted in your video. I look forward to it. I'm sure my day @ Macy's in Philly will be a day of fun and a day to remember. Thx Dan for sharing. As always I appreciate and enjoy your Dead Mall Series. Have a great night.

Brings back so many memories of Mannequin, thanks for sharing!
Dude, I have been up all night watching your channel!
Amy Haha. Thanks, Amy!
This video is mostly just proof that not a single Boscov's has updated it's interior in 30 years.
I know my comment is late but I just wanted to say, "Thank you so much for putting so much effort into trying to find these locations. Your time is greatly appreciated for what you did and shared with us fans! Thank you. Thank you!"

That was too cool,I always loved this movie and the sequel. It was a treat when it would come on HBO in the mid to late 90s.
Still one of my favorite Dead Mall Dan vids. I loved that movie back in the day. Huge crush on Kim Cattrall. "Hey Roxy, you look foxy, etc..."
Dude, this is how ALL filming location videos should be made. Love all your other series, but would love to see you do more of these! Brilliant.
I used to work around The Camp Hill Mall during the filming of Mannequin i got to see that bright fuscia limo pulling up in front of Boscov's as that scene was being filmed.I also saw other scenes being filmed as well..thanks for the visit down memory lane
Dan, my knowledge of amazing camp movies are because of you. Especially this and Legend of Billy Jean. Thank you 🙏 ❤️

Great classic movie.Great match up
Thank you Dan for doing this video. It was my mom's favorite movie. And mine too. As long as the memories are in our heart and soul the malls will never die.
I don't know what's sillier. The fact that you filmed it, or the fact that I watched it.
What an enjoyable waste of time. Thanks.
I'm so glad you found this Dan! Sorry I'm like 2 years late but this is awesome!
Boscov's at Camp Hill must have built in the early 80's. The facade and decor look exactly Boscov's at the Dover Mall.
just finished binge-watching your playlist dead mall series
This one will always hold a place with me! Thanks for all your content. Fan from dead mall series thank you Dan you deliver different from other channels. Take Care
I'm sure i saw this movie back when it came out. I enjoyed your film quite a bit too, Dan. A feel good piece.

The movie that introduced my awfully young self to fleeting love and magic.

I've always made it a point to look at the "MALL" sign when I'm in the Camp Hill Boscov's. If I close my eyes for just a moment, I can still picture the mall beyond the wall.
