Talk trash about officers is wrong. Someone with little functional experience at a general officers level is just as bad as office pog PFCs posers talking about combat.
Having worked with SF ODA in 2007and 2008 in Iraq on multiple raid missions, doesn't mean I've got experience as an SF guy.
I have direct experience with d-bags in all ranks, however most senior staff and commanders don't get there or last long if they're F'd up...at least not in the Marines.
Patton famously saw the Ardens offensive and prepared for it before asked.
Mattis knew implementing the "Awakening" in 2006 would flip locals from enemy to ally.
Good direction from a commander shepherded by a good XO or chief of staff keeps good grunts from wasting life or resources due to poor planning
On the other hand, civilian (State Department) a-holes like Bremer in 2004 negate good staff work which screws grunts and blames officers.
Movies that denigrate all officers with a broad brush are destructive.
Just like civil rights loud mouths who swap positions with cops in training learn a different perspective, people believe movie BS and think it's real.

I sad to hear your view on the afghan war. I understand on a duty level being their was motivating for your and I have a deep respect for what every person sacrificed in the dust and heat.
As a person who is 100% a civilian I wish we had real people leading that war. I'm angry that bush didn't send 100k guys in after September 11. I'm outraged that idiots at the top left you guys out in the field while people got fat off contracts and shitty leadership.

When General James Mattis was 2nd Marine division Commander, he would drive around on base on the weekends giving junior Marines rides from the share-a-ride bus stops on base.
Most of them did not recognize him and would talk freely about the stuff going wrong in their battalions.
Then crap would hit the fan on Monday morning when Mattis would call the battalion commander in.
Quickest way to get fired was to B.S.or yes-man General Mattis when asked a question. Many Marine generals are like that... You're too busy to waste time on useless staff hot air

I didn't like it that much. It's a shock propganda. I read the book to. The movie just took the most horrible stuff from the book, added even more, and made the whole movie a string of these moments.
While the reality was that the day to day average of a soldier there wasn't THAT horrible. It's just that it lasted for YEARS is the biggest tragedy.
But the movie foregoes the horror of nuance for repetitive hits with sledgehammer in the face

We should only concern ourselves with individual issues, and the specific elected officials that we personally believe have the best plan (and the details of that plan) to tackle those specific issues. @@shawnthomasbrown3867 there isn’t much of a left side in usa. And they definitely don’t want to enslave anyone. Well, capitalism will enslave people by making sure people live paycheck to paycheck, and by doing so they are kept in check and willing to give up time with their kids, time for hobbies, travel long distances for work and so on.
And I am no democrat, I’m not even american. But if you take the time to look into what proposals democrats put forward and vote for, and what republicans vote against. You will surely see that while both parties are corporate shills, one is just blatantly so and literally vote against everything that will make life better for the common man, and for anything that will let companies screw people over even harder.
Even if you ask people where they stand on policy, a lot of people on the right lean towards democrats. But politics in usa is more identity politics than anything. And I do agree that some things on the left is bonkers.

'All Quiet on the Western Front' was a good movie for what it is. People will argue between the original, the remake, the remake of the remake, and the book. I think there's something to take from each version of the story.
The newest version on Netflix has the advantage of adding more "shock" to the story. Advances in practical and special effects, public tolerances, etc. have allowed movies to potentially be more gritty and bloody in a way that can portray war in an accurate and respectful way.
I think there are parts you guys will be able to relate to and whatever you can't relate to, you can probably at least speak to it.

Generals are premadomnas. I used to work at Hanscom AFB as a civilian, i worked at the loging facility (has been shut down) and i once was checking in a man who reserved a standard room but wanted the general's cottage and that weekend so happened we had a steam outage so there was no hot water until 8 or 9 am the next day. However the fitness center had running water so if he absolutely had to, he can utilize that shower. The man flipped out which i offered to make a reservation at another hotel but his current reservation will be lost and we were completely booked (a flight crew and snow plow guys from the town were staying) and the man basically threatened my job and i ended up getting fired. I defended myself to the man, i basically told him "the policy is designes this way so people on orders are priority 1, and without specific orders, i cant move him". I found out later on that the general was retired and i basically got let go over spilled milk.

Hey, I think it would be fun if you do a breakdown on two movies might be interesting for everyone:
    - Thank you for your service (about PTSD of war)
    - Megan Leavey (about a K9 handler women)

I wonder, would you react to something like the action in Hulk 2003 where they show stuff which is not as common in films like thermobarics and cluster bombs? What about Predator, Aliens, or even Starship Troopers? Or what about stuff from different time periods or fantasy? It would be interesting to see a modern green beret's take on something like the Civil or Revolutionary War in movies like The Patriot, Roman legion tactics, or even the Lord of the Rings. Or what would you have done if you were Peter in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe? I would love to hear your thoughts on this stuff!

Definitely do All Quiet on the Western Front and I think you should do the original too at some point, it's black and white but it is closer to the book and resonated more with my military experience.

I just looked at your 2.0 ruck trainer...... It looks pretty cool. BUT, who will go camping with an olympic plate? Just my acid wit here (although I understand it really is just HALF-ACID). Once and Future Combat Medic here... Keep up the good work, sir... You are helping future operators get their wish!
