So I found a bug within this bug lol be careful when reselling the Spectre weapons and armor. I’m not sure if the trigger is selling more than one Spectre item or selling more than 15-20 items total but it will “reset” your Spectre gear to common gear.
I RECOMMEND JUST RESELLING THE 305000 Sniper and maybe 10-15 other common items. DO NOT INCLUDE MORE THAN ONE ITEM YOU BOUGHT FROM REQUISITION OFFICER. Thankfully I made extra saves lol THIS IS WHY WE SAVE PEOPLE!!

As another user said the cutoff is 14. You can sell whatever you want just don't sell more than 14 and you're good.

Why? I always max out on money before even leaving the Citadel for the first time by regularly playing the game, there is no need for this glitch. Just wait until you complete the second mission for Dr. Michelle, then sell everything you picked up up until this point and you're good to go.

@@KingZealotTacticsThere was a glitch in the OG games that let you wear any armor, so a sentinel/adept could wear heavy soldier armor through an exploit with the inventory screen. Doesn’t work in Legendary Edition because the menu is faster. He explains it better than me and talks about it in the infinite xp video.

Ten years?? Holy crap! I haven't played it since ME3 and that came out almost 10 years ago. I just finished the Legendary Edition and loved it, especially since I now understood WTH was going on! :D
Also, once you get enough credits, buy the most expensive thing from the guy you sell to then go resell it, it's a much quicker way of making profit if you're just starting out with barely any items worth anything

It should be noted that you can sell more than 20 but every item past that will erase the first item you sold. so if you have it sorted by price and you sell 22 things, it will erase the 2 most expensive items you sold when you go to buy them back.
Thanks for that. The earnings are a bit meagre for me right now but I've recorded the necessary inputs and now have it running on a loop hands free, thanks to my titan one lol... just need to remember to reload from the autosave after each transit so that the camera angle is consistent, or it fucks it. I factored that into the recorded input and its running flawlessly all by itself over the last half hour hehe

I am so glad this STILL WORKS (yes it has ALWAYS worked lol) I am so glad they didn't patch it. My opinion is as follows - It doesn't break the game, therefore there is no need to spend time and fix glitches like this.... I like to be able to get extra cash.

Just a heads up for anyone who hasn't tried this yet. Make sure you scrap your low value before you try adding in higher value items into the sequence. The game must only allow so many items into the buyback menu, so items might just disappear once that limit it reached. Better to get rid of low value junk before trying to up your gains by adding in the good stuff.

I tried it. Unfortunately for me no matter what I do I only get 486 credits per round. On PS3 I'd get hundreds of thousands reselling the high end stuff.

The buyback menu only holds 20 items and starts deleting them from the top. So if you go over 20 and just bought that expensive item to help you earn more. You wont be able to buy it back.

Cool to see the glitch still works, on a side note I have never understood why people play Shepard with a custom head, but more power to the players who do.
I always played him as his classic head but with the legendary edition I thought I would make my own this time
Nice glitch. Didn't know about this one. I never found money to be a problem for the most part, but every once in awhile two Colossus Armor's would pop up and I didn't have quite enough, so this is definitely not a waste of time.
I think the time this glitch works well is for example, when you first unlock spectre gear. Each item is $245,000 - NOBODY HAS that much money at THAT POINT in the game.. period end of story. It is NOT POSSIBLE. Seeing as though spectre gear is unlocked like an hour into the game. I personally like to get it right away.
But then again I also beaten this game, on the hardest setting available at whatever point I was at, countless times in 14 years.
I always beat a game on the hardest setting multiple times before I use any glitches or cheats (just me)
I'm not saying you're one of these people, but there are people out there that think that they should control how others play games, even SINGLE PLAYER games, I call folly on that, it is after all a fact that when playing a single player game and cheating you don't affect anyone else's life. I just wish that there weren't so many cry babies out there.
@@syttorak7629 I use exploits like this because they offer items that are almost impossible to obtain in the game otherwise.

Do not sell more than 15-20 things at a time or you will end up losing some items in the buy back menu. Found this out the hard way.
Is maxing out Charm and Intimidate required? I just tried this out and lost money (started with 21000~ and after the buyback I was at only 17000~), so is it cause of the stats or have they finally patched it out?
No it’s not patched so I wouldn’t worry about part, have you done the side mission for her? It’s not when you meet Garus there it’s a complete my different mission

Only sell 20 items at a time the buyback menu will delete any more than that starting with your first sold item
I have found on my play through that if I sell everything starting from the top I lose my most expensive items and they dont show up in the buy back.. at least on console... you can only sell 10 items and get them back. That may be different on pc.

Hi I tried this on the legendary version and it didn’t work. I didn’t have many items to sell. It basically kept giving me the same amount without the profit. Any advice?
Definitely super late but you have to do the missions you get from the doctor after the Garrus mission
This glitch was also in Fallout 3 except you didn’t have to do all that running back and forth from one merchant to the other. You could do this with Moira in Megaton until you had tons of caps. This game is actually much better than Fallout 3 though.
im happy i finaly get to play this game i own the older mass effecst but they always keep CRASHING on my high end PC feels good to play them finaly
Really? That sucks they crash but at least you get to experience it now! Also ME3 multiplayer is kinda fun, you'll be missing out on that aspect.

have also tested this numerous times and not sure if anyone knows or said anything. Now you can only sell a max of 20 items otherwise it gets rid of your expensive items from the buy back screen. If you buy more expensive items you need to get rid of that amount that you bought.
For some reason when I try to buyback the items, they are not discounted, is there a reason for it?

I actually Don't think this is a glitch necessarily. I believe, the "Buyback" feature was patched in, not 100%, sure. I don't think it was there at launch, in 2007. I seem to remember, though fuzzily, Bioware decided to add this feature, afterwards. Now I seem to remember I found out about this, on my own, I don't remember Wikis or internet help, at the time. This "glitch' IS HARD WORK. 2 hours of buying and selling, to get Spectre Gear. Bioware still wins in more TIME spent playing their game. My very first playthrough, I did not know about this and/or would have NOT done this glitch. I do it now to save time, in the long run. I have been waiting for someone to post this since Legendary dropped. Good Job!

What is the cutoff point for the number of items to sell before you start losing them 14 or 20?
I was doing 17 but most are saying 14 so to be safe stick to that!

I can't seem to get it to work. I don't think I'm getting the discount, but I helped the doctor and have Garus in my part now. I'm confused.
Not just after rescuing her you have to complete a blackmail mission afterwards
So it works mechanically but alot of the inventory disappeared after selling it the first time, on the ps5
Okay great guide, but this is how things worked in the original ME, it still works in this edition with one rather major change, ONLY SELL 20 OR LESS ITEMS AT ONCE! Otherwise it can reduce your gear to the most basic level and destroy hours of progress. My advice, go to your lockers, make sure everyone is equipped straight, then make sure you only have 19 items in your inventory that you plan to sell, the 19 most expensive items you have. Turn everything else into gel. Then follow this guide and you should be good to go. ***One other note*** If you plan to grind this out for awhile, going into options, and turning the auto save off, can save you a lot more time than you might think. Just make random saves throughout the process and when you are done remember to turn the auto save back on, unless you do not use auto save for some odd reason. I'm really glad they left this glitch in or were to lazy to fix it, either way, it makes things cool if you are doing your first run on insanity.
how are you selling the assassin VI for that much to her? I can only sell mine for 12000 and I have paragon and charm maxed out.

Hi friend! Thanks for showing that this glitch/oversight still exists! I made myself rich before even going to my first main planet mission, and was decked out before making it to Level 20.
Currently (June 2021) , the trick still works. I wanted to give some tips for anyone watching this...
The buyback saves the last 20 items that you sold to a store. If you have more than twenty items, set the List view to default showing expensive first. Scroll to the bottom, then start clicking/tapping the sell button until you are back to the top of your list. This way you can keep selling and recovering your priciest items and speed up your credits faster.
I had to reload one of my saves because I got to a system where I kept re-selling the spectre weapons (after cleaning out C-Sec's Requisition Officer), but I accidentally sold from the top to the bottom. ...Since I had more than 20 items, I lost the Spectre Sniper Rifle forever which was my biggest earning re-sell (not to mention a strong item).
Thanks again for showing this tutorial! I love this series, and never heard of this glitch back in the day, so it's an incredible edge to have on a fresh save file!

Part of this glitch doesn’t work anymore. If you buy anything and then turn around and sell it, it no longer appears in the buy back… the item just disappears.
It seems like if you buy an item (say a piece of armor) equip it, sell what you were wearing previously, and then go through the loop, and re-equip the previous armor and then sell the newer purchased item SOMETIMES you can now include the purchased item in your sell buy back loop… sometimes the expensive item you purchased disappears… thus setting you back what you paid AND the item is gone.
Proceed with caution.
If you do this glitch at the beginning you are only going to get the value of whatever is in your inventory at the beginning which is a measly 2100 per loop… I don’t know if you can just come back to the citadel after leaving and acquiring more stuff and the glitch will still be there?
So if you are ready to grind out 2100 everytime until you are rich, but this glitch may kind of be a bust compared to what it was.
Also know that what ever items you buy will disappear for good… meaning the item does NOT come back to the storefront… so unless you can purchase the same item from another location… poof… it’s gone.
Btw there is a 20 item sell limit so if u sell over 20 items they will disappear

When does she get blackmailed in a video call? Did the mission to get garrus and now she’s just standing in the med bay when does the second mission trigger?
I believe it’s after the 2nd meeting with the Council. Do the main line until that point then go back and visit her.
After the first time there when getting Garrus, you need to speak to her. When you talk to her again after leaving, either just the room or the area, you'll get the blackmailer mission.

How many items are you selling? I pinned a comment that I discovered after the fact regarding a possible limit to how many items will appear in the buy back.
You can only sell 14 items before they start disappearing from the buyback list. So just sell your 14 most expensive only.

If you've gone on to ME2 can you reload ME1 and transfer credits to your ME2 save? Asking for a friend...
Only way to transfer credits is to import your ME1 character at the character creation of ME2

Maybe i found a little difference from the first ME to this. In the first edition i remember i had done a mission about some medical supplies to take from the Doc to Morlan (the salarian in the market), then i had unlock the medical store and discount. Now i saved her from three guys with Garrus and the store was unlocked. So my question is, this buy-sell glitch is already working or i need to trigger the next mission?
There's something that's not completely working with this for me. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. I sell her what I have, and then buyback from Expat and that part works. But when I buy an Avenger III rifle from Expat, sell it to the Dr. and then try to buy it back from Expat, the Avenger III isn't listed as available to buyback

That was exactly it. I was able to figure that out and now I'm doing this no problem, and all the Spectre Gear is staying spectre gear when I sell and buy back. Thanks for reply

So, the old game, you can fast travel!
Theres a door like righr across the room that connects to the market
On modern computers and/or the newer consoles, it's still faster to Fast Travel than to run that distance. I tested it, as I noticed the same. :)

This is just a guess but i think that all glitches in the mass effect games still work as so far big glitches like this and the level up one still work

So I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but when I sell anything at a high lvl it disappears.
15 items max to sell.. Also finish Dr. Michel quest. First i sold 30+ items.. Got back everything that cost under 100.. Then tried less.. Started with 10.. Worked up to 15.

Not sure if this is a glitch. Sounds like an overlooked detail or maybe they did it on purpose. Either way money is easy in 1 anyway. I wish it would transfer to ME 2 and 3.
