Looks great! I had my 06 460 buffed and waxed this spring and while I saw an improvement it wasn’t where I wanted it to be. I’m having it done again, but this time trying the ceramic coat method. Have you considered it?

Yes, considered. Truthfully, we're really quite happy with what I did. Long story, but I only got to the deep buff I did here. It's still good and shiney. Thinking of getting it painted this or next winter

OK, the prior owner of our boat painted the hull sides with imron. Sure looks nice from afar, but there are a few dings that I would love to get fixed. It's far tougher to repair a painted boat than a white gelcoat boat from what I've learned. Factor that in before you paint. Happy cruising!@@lakemichiganboatingwithkjr7508

@buroakridgehomestead5995 We've used Imron on our farm on tractors and other equipment repaints and old tractor or vehicle restorations for probably 40+ years. Not everything, but most things get it. My cousin is the painter. He actually went to Imrons paint school when it was still offered. No, he's not doing the boat, just that while I'm no expert i do know some about it listening to him and watching him. He's learned a lot from both their school and just trial and error. He's not a professional painter, either so don't think im saying he is, he's more an artist than anything else really. The paint is tough but yeah not indestructible. The best way to make it really hard to damage is putting Imrons polyurethane based uv protection clear coat. But yeah it's harder to fix, and its easier to damage uf the base wasnt put on right, and thats a pain to do right. But the regular maintenance is nothing more than a quick coat seal polishing before it goes in the water. The shine and color lasts almost indefinitely if you do that, except for scratches! If you're in the Great Lakes I'd suggest calling Dry Harvour Marine in Charlevoix, MI. They're Imron experts.

Thanks for the referral. I’m on the St Croix and upper Mississippi rivers between MN and WI.

@buroakridgehomestead5995 ok, this boat spent most of its life in stillwater, MN so you're in the region of where this boat had been!

    What speed were you using?

I was about 3. It felt like it was probably a little too fast tbh, but I had a lot to cut through.

Level R is best ran starting at 600rpms and slowly increasing speed each pass to no more than 1200. Elevate likes 1800-2200 rpms. Best with a yellow wool pad on rotary. If you want a swirl free finish, use a long throw random orbital machine with and orange foam pad on speed 4-5
