I got a GT for my 70th Birthday last year. I was loving the ride when one day my battery suddenly cut out on me and nosedived! I was slammed to the pavement at 21.6 mph. Shattered my left femur and bashed my head pretty good too. I was life flighted to the Trauma Center in Roseville CA. I wasn't wearing any body armor... big mistake. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
As a paramedic and a avid rider, this is terrifying. 70 years old and still dragging around those giant balls. LOL God bless you, man. I'm turning 49 in April and my wife shakes her head every time I ride my board. I would imagine that you either wear lots of gear or do not ride anymore. I hope it is the former. Don't you have a wife to tell you to not do this crazy shit?
Jesus first of all… that is terrifying. What if that happens coming down the hill at 20mph… could kill you with absolutely 0 warning. This makes me really nervous as my GT-S gets here tomorrow. You better get a full warranty asap. Thank you for posting and spending the time to make this video. ❤
If you can't trust your board you will hold back when riding. Instead of doing that get a vesc based option. 2 p configuration means the safety will always have a bank to draw from
Good video. Glad you were able to get it all documented on film. My guess is an internal plug coming loose. Hopefully they send you a new board or a detailed explanation and solution so that you are not hesitant on it for future use. You are very lucky it was at slow speed. An update with their response for the community to see would be appreciated 👍
This is why I refuse to buy another onewheel until they extend the onewheel to a longer warranty. 1 year or 1000 miles is not enough for some thing with a large battery pack
I feel like we're seeing a ton of GT controllers die for no justifiable reason. Sad to see this trend extending into the GT-S line as well but frankly not surprising. On a positive note, my gt vesc is almost ready to go :)
Had the same issue with my GT a couple of months ago, just died from nothing, wouldn’t charge, just about it. Great service from FM though, as I live in Brazil they just sent me a new one in a short time. Hope you get it done to enjoy your GTS!
I was more comfortable on the GT-S but that is just because of the extra power. It seems more stable, I think because I was not pushing it close to its limits. Both my GT and GT-S are stock, except that my GT has the same FM Performance Treaded tire that is stock on the GT-S. I also have the Floatlife Kush rear footpad and Lifesavers on the GT. Interestingly, when I weighed them, the GT-S was about 3lbs less than my GT. That could also make it more comfortable.
@@never2old780 You are probably the lucky one, in my case, they didn't, they told me that they could fix it under warranty but I had to send the GT to them at my own expense, I told them since it is a warranty repair they have to provide me with a prepaid label and I will do it, but I never received prepaid label from them. I even contacted the dealer where I bought it, to see if they could ship it back to F/M for warranty repair, but the dealer told me that since they had always been scammed by F/M on warranty repair shipping cost reimbursement, they didn't want to deal with F/M anymore. I'm very disappointed and warranty repair from future motion
No. I started with 90% and went up to the top, then came down, so it could not have regenerated above where it started. Also, the app said battery was at 79% when the GT-S quit.
just happened to my GT, bricked for no reason at 60% battery after about a 1.5mile ride. They told me the controller was defective. Cost me almost $330, it was soon after I updated the firmware also....just saying idk if thats suspicious or not. Board was working fine before the update
@@Felisargyle from what I’ve heard the Little FOCer is one of the best you can buy right now, but it does run a little more expensive (~$300). Agreed. The Skydio 2+ is the best for this type of footage! Too bad Skydio is not selling to consumers anymore! Oddly, my Skydio 2+ crashed into a chain-link fence while filming this video. First time it has crashed into anything. Changed a couple props and it was fine again, not sure why though.

I want this board badly. It's awesome but it's just too early. I thought it was interesting. You said you would contact future motion. Expect to hear back from them in about 3 or 4 months.
Wrong. He heard back the following day. I sent my board back for repairs and it was a smooth process. It was under warranty and I had it back in a little over a week.
Gt-s series is what the gt should have been when released but it should have gt range a standard 6” rim user replaceable battery & components for around $2000 price, $3200 is just ridiculous 🤦♂️ U can buy a full dirt-bike or decent running used car for that price

Your headlight led are flashing error codes throughout the video 7:03 for example going into the turn. im gonna wager you over volted a capacitor. If they didnt change the program in the microcontroller then it will have no perameters for 113v. At that greater pressure overcharge cap would pop through its fracture mark bricking the board. To anybody reading this understand voltage IS pressure ( amps are 3lectron flow ) so volts does not = speed . Its the mechanical equivalent of putting way too many psi in a vessel that cannot hold the pressure . Bottom line, get a vesc. Ffm ... glad youre okay
Uh, NO. Look again Sherlock. It's simply the footpad blocking the view of the headlight every time the nose comes down a little. And regarding the caps, if they are rated for higher voltage (which I suspect they are rated for at least 125V, have you seen how HUGE they are in the GT-S??) then they don't care. The controller doesn't control voltage, it controls PWM. Voltage is whatever the battery (or motor) is putting out.
Am I behind or are we actually able to vesc the gt? Because that would be problem solved. the XR star had a certain amount of volts the GT went up to 75 or 76 and the new one is a 113. 84 V from my XR converted with a vesc. Can anybody please tell me the voltage or power available on Ag t if it followed the same formula? I would even be happy with 84 V. I just didn't think we could do that.
I got to ride the GTS last weekend for a few hours and I agree 100% with you. I was really excited to feel a big difference, the reality was a little different. It’s a great board, it did climb an area we usually use to drop in, very steep, but the GT did it too… It’s more powerful and it’s fun, but in no way does the difference between the two boards validate the price in my opinion. I will buy a good used one when people are selling them but I will not pay that much for the difference, it’s just not worth it to me. (I will say that it’s more noticeable on trails, which is cool).
