You heard me right. This is the second of three remaining Federal Model 5T sirens left operable from the old Onondaga Civil Defense network; she may not be the best looking, but still screams loudly and proudly. I believe this is timed to sound off at "noon" daily but can only confirm operation on Thursdays (when I'm working in the area; it sounded at 11:58am without any tones). I don't know if it's running single or 3-phase power, *however I did confirm it does run in attack mode for calls as per the old county standard (1 cycle for tests, 3 for rescue/EMS runs, 5 for fires)*-updated 8/14/2020. In any case, whatever it may be configured to do, sounds quite healthy for almost 50 years of service.

For three phase, look for three powerlines connecting to the siren its self.

That just brought back a lot of memories, I used to live in Navarino and my father is a member of NFD, I was always around it, he is still there but I’m in Colchester CT. It’s been a year and a half since I’ve heard it in person.

Why do i see a speaker siren?

I have no idea what that is. The property seems to have been set up to handle some sort of field days or large gathering, so it might just be a 4-way PA system.

@@finneganthao9164 you mean my PA200 and 300s? Those are vehicle-mounted sirens, though they could be used for fixed outdoor warning (I once saw a bunch of old SVP SA400s for sale as "helicopter pad hailers".

Wow! Great video. Do you by any chance know what year this siren was produced in?

I don't have an exact year, but my resident authority on air raid sirens tells me that the Model 5 line was produced relative to the 1950s.

I believe that's what this is. 5As were all 3 phase if memory serves me correctly.
