Thousands of Iranians gathered in the streets of Tehran to mourn Ebrahim Raisi and fellow officials killed in Saturday's helicopter crash. Dozens of foreign delegations, including from the Taliban and Hamas, paid their respects to Raisi. Ahead of the funeral procession, prosecutors in Iran had warned people against celebrating Raisi's death or insulting the dead officials. Massive turnouts at funerals of top leaders have become a feature of Iranian politics after the 1979 revolution. The regime has often tried to derive legitimacy from the public outpouring of grief.
