    I love the Lakes and loved watching your adventure, though I was expecting the sad announcement at the end, which was heart-breaking. So sorry for the loss of your boy. Me and my boy loved watching his excitement and enthusiasm. He was very lucky to have had such a varied and exciting life. So sorry.

    Hi Robbie, I love the Lake District, I took my Mum every year as she had fond memories from when she was a guide. In my top 10 would be Watendlath, a stunning place with breathtaking views and Ashness Bridge, together with Buttermere, Derwentwater, Ullswater and my favourite,Coniston. I have your book and thank you.

    We've been to the lakes many times but you've given us a load of new ideas. I remember driving Wrynose pass in my old Polo, bloody terrifying, foot flat on the brake and still accelerating! I'll be ordering the book, we loved the Ireland one.

      Thanks Gill 😅 Wrynoss and Hardknott were certainly challenging in my campervan 🥹 Anyone reading this should probably avoid in anything 6m or longer 😂

    Hi Robbie,just watched you Lake District trip on CZcams,first of all so sorry to hear of the loss of one of your dogs Archie ,I’m sure he had a wonderful life with you doing all your road trips and walks together. My wife and I plus our little Frenchie Winston are heading off tomorrow to do the NC 500 together with your guide book and the stickers you so kindly sent stuck to the back of my van ,we had to postpone the trip last year due to van problems .So looking forward to the NC500 something I’ve fancied doing for a long time and thanks to the help from your book I’m actually on my way.Keep up the fantastic work ,don’t forget the Northumberland road trip you thought about doing. Regards Steve 👍

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but my recollection is that you cannot take off or land a drone in National Trust property, yet on several occasions you did! How?

    Windermere is simply 'Windermere', not Lake Windermere. 'Mere' means 'lake', so what you are actually saying is Lake Winder Lake: you're welcome😂. I live in Cumbria, and you've shown me places I haven't yet visited, so thanks for that. Got your Scotland book, guess which is gonna be my next purchase?😉

    • @robbieroams
      @robbieroams  Před 2 měsíci

      Haha thanks for the tip, everyone I’ve talked to about the Lakes that isn’t local gets confused between Windermere the lake and Windermere the town so I thought I’d make it clear (although not entirely accurate) 😂 I’m guessing Ireland? 😀

    "...and despite its name, there's only one body of water in the region that's technically designated as a lake".
    Compoletely untrue. Bassenthwaite Lake may be the only 'body of water' with the word 'lake' in it's name, but to claim that the others are not 'technically designated' as lakes is total bullshit. 'mere' and 'watetr' (which are included in the names of the rest of the larger lakes,) are words derived from historical names for 'lake' in cumbric, old norse, and anglo-french.
    Even the minor lakes - the 197 tarns are 'technically designated as lakes'. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a tarn is "A small mountain LAKE, having no significant tributaries" Surely you accept the OED as being important enough to 'technically designate' things?
