Thank you for the memories. The sounds of this game take me back to the arcades of the 90’s... man I miss them days... 16 years old, and Mortal Kombat is all I had to worry about.

Since the first mk combos existed. SF II also has combos, but the combo count was introduced later

@@SSJMugetsu well remember he's using a tool assisted which makes some things he shows impossible to do on the regular version of the game.

@@SSJMugetsu hm I don't know about this combo specifically but there are some mk2 combo videos that show some pretty crazy combos like shock made one several years ago, that can show what's possible on the game without tool assisted

This game is the best Mortal Kombat of all. My only problem was they could've changed costumes of Smoke & Jade to make them completely different from the playable roster instead of just changing color sprites
Memory space was a considerably bigger consideration back then. In MK4's N64 version they needed a Kitana model for the ending, so they tried to make her a playable character, but ran out of space to do it!
They were only secret!!!!!!
Ever wonder why there were so many ninja characters that were just different colors of the same 2D sprite? Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Smoke, Noob Saibot, Kitana, Jade, and Mileena all exist because of the memory limitations of the consoles at the time.
There was not enough to create brand new animations and sprites for each different design. Rather than limit the character roster, they simply cloned a male or female ninja, changed the color, added a movelist based on Scorpion, Sub Zero, or Kitana and Mileena, and added speed and strength boosts. Back then, players also were huge on secrets, so we were too amazed that there was a secret character to really see the characters for what they actually were.
Of course today those problems are no more, and each character has become their own.

So I have to ask, is the "enemy" AI in on this, or is the Tool just that perfect that it knows exact frame data and hurt boxes for every move?
The enemy AI is normal. The guy who made this TAS made it by letting the game run, seeing what the enemy AI would do, and then going back to a "save" and coming up with how to beat it. A person is deciding what Kung Lao does, just using frame-advances and savestates to make that decision.

This is still, my favourite Mortal Kombat. And the juggles in this game, are so heavy hitting and extreme, it still puts juggles in other fighting games, to shame. Nice to see the AI getting it's butt kicked, because the AI was so cheap and tough. And shame on those old guys, Ed Boon, John Tobias and the other guys at midway, for making the AI so tough.😂
