Tywin not dying would have fucked the show a LOT more. First, it would have gone against the books which is a failure right there for many people. Second, removing competent Tywin and having incompetent Cersie rule is what made things go forward. Now, since the tv series is a little different from books now, it's hard to tell, but with Tywin around, most of the troubles in later seasons would have been avoided such as no high sparrow (like hell Tywin would let a religious cult rule), so no Tyrell deaths and therefore no Tyrell joining the other side. Then we can assume that Tywin would have been clever enough to see the white walker threat not being stupid about it. So, that's most of the drama and tension and fighting right out the window. There is a reason when in the books Tywin's competent brother takes over and starts to fix the mess created by Cercie, he gets shanked. Can't have peace after all.
khosrow zare I agree, Tywin was an awesome character and his ability to turn the Lannister adults into grumpy kids was brilliant, but if he was still here now he would be holding the narrative back. Too obviously the winner
the thing to note about Tywin's death is also that Tyrion's arc just went different in the TV show then the books, which is why his death just feels off for some people.
Tywin died at the moment it needed to. Cersie has been the main villain from the first episode. Her evolution into the ruthless queen she is now is a major part of the show Its hard to answer this question in GoT because a characters death more often than not is important for another character. A better option for this list would have been Mance Rider for Little Finger or even better Doran Martell for Ellaria Sand.
Littlefinger's death is an illustration of the development of the Stark children; the greatest liar and politician in the 7 kingdoms is manipulated and out played by 3 teenagers. It's a mark of how far they have developed rather than being about him; Bran, Arya and Sansa are all key narrative characters in the books, Littlefinger is not. The show did skate over Littlefinger's later political machinations; they should have followed the books more closely and shown precisely what he was up to in the Vale. However his death came at absolutely the right time and in the right way; it adds to the development of the 3 protaganists; Sansa grows beyond him as a politician, the children demonstrate their commitment to their father's legacy and Bran shows why his abilities make him the most powerful person in the world. Also it was pretty obvious that Sansa had his number early on, she was always going to kill him when she discovered he effectively destroyed her life and killed her father.
Guillermo Peña: I agree totally re: Doran Martell; one of the best and most sympathetic characters in the books was given no justice by the show. Also it made no sense that Ellaria Sand would be accepted by the Dornish Lords as a ruler; they would have executed her and the Sandsnakes about 5 minutes after they betrayed the Martells.
As much as I loved Little Finger as a character it was time for him to go. He had to die in order for Sansa to complete her transformation into a ruler. Little Finger would never stop scheming. If she threw him in the dungeon he'd find a way out or scheme from his cell, if he was banished he would just build new allies and come back for revenge. Plus, his death served to show that Sansa was smarter than him. She outplayed him. It was the perfect culmination of her journey and showed that her smile at Ramsey's death in the previous season meant something. It was also a great moment for Aryia (despite her story in the show being a disaster compared to the books). Little Finger is responsible for her father's death, this is the revenge she was looking for. She can't kill Joffery and I doubt it will be her that kills Cersei, but she is still able to get revenge for her father by killing Little Finger. Everything with Dorn has been an utter shit show in the series. Absolutely everything regarding it has been worthless. Every death in Dorn added nothing to the show and only deprived the show of several interesting and compelling characters that were a hell of a lot better than Ellaria and the Sand Snakes.
Though I do wish Merle had survived longer in Walking Dead, his sacrifice wasn't pointless. He killed a large number of the Governors top soldiers, making it possible for Rick and the gang to easily fend what was left off when they attacked the prison.
Gus Fring's death was fucking brilliant. Perfectly acted and executed and after all the build that came before it it certainly felt like the right time to kill him off.
Who gives a shit if its book based or not? Still doesnt make it an interesting choice. Books are far from infallible, especially the aimless, drawn out, and unfulfilling shitshow that is the GoT books. Get off your pedestal.
MilkySubstance drawn out unfulfilling shit show? Really? Can't say I agree. I can see why someone might come to that conclusion but personally I see it as long term story telling.
disagree about killing Tyrese instead of Hershel, Tyrese wasnt nearly developed enough for his death to have any impact, Tyrese was a HUGE character in the comics, and killing him off before any real development wouldve been more insulting to the character, as far as hershel goes, he had already been through so much and hos character arc was essentially complete, he had gotten on good terms with both of his daughters again, kicked his alcoholism, and him giving his approval for Glenn and Maggie to marry, along with the watch he gave glenn as a gift, he had already left huge impacts on nearly everyone in the show, its painful to watch a character you love die but the only real thing hershel couldve added to the show later on was more heart-felt life lessons (which there were already plenty of) and maybe kept up his garden? it was a good time for him to go, and with tyrese dying there, we never wouldve gotten his amazing trippy-zombie death edit:Ya know which character they ACTUALLY wrongly killed off? Abraham! instead of killing Abe, just kill Glenn! two deaths was unnecessary and Abe still had so much more he could have done, basically, just kill one, either kill JUST Glenn or JUST Abe, it downplays Abes death when another more popular character dies at the same time, Abe didnt deserve that, either hes the only one that goes out, or Glenn is Also they shouldnt have killed Carl, make it like, literally anyone else
Abraham's death worked for 2 particular reasons. His character was basically complete, and story wise there wasn't much left to do with him, and it made the death of Glenn that much more shocking, because after Abe got the bat, you would have expected that to be that. Killing just Glenn or just Abe wouldn't have had the same effect, since everyone was expecting Glenn to die, and Abe wasn't as loved. I agree that Carl was a bit pointless, the episode was fantastic (In my opinion at least), but it was pointless since it seems they're not having Rick listen to the final request of his son, and it does rob us of the story arc between Negan and Carl after the war.
Gibbypastrami I agree they should of killed Abe or just Glenn. Even to this day people only mention Glenn which is annoying. I don't miss Glenn as much as Abe.
"They" didn't kill Carl; that asswipe Gimple did!! Renenber when they asked him about it on "TD? His answer was nothing but a bunch of BS!! And I would never be able to choose between Glenn and Abe!! And I liked Tyreese, and I didn't like the fact that he got bit from behind. But I never wanted him to die, like some characters on the show!!
Tyrese's death episode was one of my favorites in the series. I never really liked his character, but it was a very powerful episode centering around the theme of having the will to live in such a violent world. Definitely would not have traded Hershel for Tyrese. Also totally agree about Carl. So stupid.
I actually stopped watching the show a couple episodes before he joined the dead. I just got bored of it. When I found out he died I'm like oh, cool. He finally did it! Lol
I think my big problem with this list is that so many of them are actors that wanted out, or had conflicts. Many of them weren't killed out of narrative desire. So what exactly did you expect the writers to DO with those characters?
Ha ha if true contradict the premise of video and concept of the whole channel, we won't even ask the author what were you thinking On the other hand I wouldn't even remotely be interested watching any of these shows so I can't be objective
Opie had to die though to stick to the hamlet theme with piney as polonious and Opie as Ophelia. Ophelia's suicide which was built up over the grief of losing her father but in opies case his father and also his wife. His death definitely hit the hardest though. 😞
Ianto Jones, Torchwood His death was completely unnecessary and was only out because the writer wanted the audience to see that there was a REAL war going on between earth and the alien. The character was missed so much that www.saveiantojones.com was made and he got a shrine. He was completely the wrong person to kill off.
On Torchwood? I think it was actually the whole shift after Season 3. Owen Dying in Season 2 didn't really hurt the show that much. The show literally starts with someone being killed, and then Owen and Toshiko at the end of Season 2 (Exit Wounds). Season 3 had budget cuts, which probably had more to do with the shift than Owen or Toshiko dying. Miracle Day is more or less when it went full "Jumping The Shark."
Nah, Cersei was meant to live to the last and watch her children die before her; it's the only justice that could come from someone whose justification for inhumane action was "for her children". Meanwhile Tywin getting shot by his own son is perfect poetic justice for the man who tortured his children for his own legacy. Plus Cersei has more to offer in later plot points than Tywin does. Tywin was too wise and calculating to be the kind of direct, visible enemy Cersei became; he was never meant to be the Biggest Bad so much as the biggest conniving brain (that didn't have Tyrion's compassion).
not only that but with Tywin is still around we have no high sparrow, which means no Tyrell deaths which means Tommen is still king and the crown is in a strong position.
Tywin Lanister was one of the greatest characters in tv/movie history, no doubt... but so is Cerse, just because she's evil doesn't mean they should get rid of her. It's GoT ffs. That episode when she blows up all her enemies is one of the best scenes in the show. She's great.
I kind of hated her replacing Doyle to begin with. I'm not saying I wanted her out of the show but Doyle was a much better character. Should have kept both of them and would gladly trade Connor for it.
I usually like these lists, but this one isn't good.. Some of them where fine to be on the list, but once you venture into: Who should have died instead, the list looses all credibility, as it's now just your personal vendetta against certain characters. And in some of the latter entries it showed that you've misunderstood/misinterpreted the show.. It's fine to have personal favourites, but not understanding why Thyrion would always kill tywin before cersei, show a lack of understanding for the narrative.
Tywin Lannister's death was one of the most cathartic and satisfying deaths in both the novels and TV series. Killing him was the right choice. And... I don't think you really understand Tyrion's relationship with Tywin or Cersei if you think Cersei was the major villain in Tyrion's family life. Yes, Cersei hated Tyrion, but that's because that's the way Tywin raised her.
Heh. She kind of was because, ultimately, she's the one who did the most to stack the deck against him at his trial, and had hired someone to kill him during the siege. That said, he 'managed' Cersei most of the time, and while he disliked her, he never tried to have her killed because she was family and his brother Jamie, whom he loved, loved her. Tywin, on the other hand, is the one who made his existence hell. First there was the fact Tywin blamed him for his mother's death. Then the fact that he was a dwarf when Tywin wanted a strong warrior and tactician like himself to be his legacy. Tywin never acknowledged Tyrion as his true son and heir despite Tyrion being the one who inherited his intellect. He forced Tyrion to watch his wife raped repeatedly. He would have happily seen Tyrion sent off or killed, and, the final crime, was a hypocrite who frequented prostitutes while constantly disparaging his son for doing the same.
Agree with most you said BUT ... she hates Tyrion because her mother died while giving birth to him and because it was told by a witch that she will be killed by her younger brother so she thinks it will be Tyrion.
I think "The Walking Dead"'s downfall can be traced directly to the killing of Glenn. Granted, I'm aware a lot of fans complain about the fakeout earlier in Season 6 involving the dumpster, and I understand the arguments for that; it was contrived and unconvincing. But I think killing him at all was a mistake, however they went about it. He was somewhat of a moral center to the story, and we'd watched him grow from this nerdy, immature youth to the more brave, dependable person he became. He held a central place in the story from the start (he's one of only three characters to appear in the show's pilot episode, the others being Rick himself and Morgan, who doesn't show up again until several seasons later), and represented the young-adult generation in the ZA--in other words, the future. There were other problems that developed around the time of his death; the show completely jumped the shark in Season 7, with all the silliness about Oceanside, the Kingdom, the Garbage People, etc., but it was Glenn's death that seemed to be the point when everything on the show came loose.
Completely disagree with #1 regarding who should have died. Having Marie die to spurn on Hank would have been derivative, since every other TV show under sun uses that angle. The way it all played out is what helped make it that much more original and memorable.
Laurel Lance on Arrow. Instead of killing her, they could have made it be literally anyone else that has ties to Oliver. Felicity (Love Interest), Diggle (Best Friend), Thea (Oliver's Sister), Quentin (Laurel and Sara's Father), William (Oliver's Son) or even Samantha (William's Mother), any one of these people would have drove Oliver to want to kill Damien. The Decision to kill her off was one of the worst decisions made for the show, she was the freaking Black Canary for crying out loud. Albeit a pretty crummy Black Canary, not a Metahuman, technology based Canary Cry, unrealistic progression in combat skills (She was somehow able to go toe to toe with the League of Assassins members after training for only a few months), but they could have made her a better Black Canary in time.
As much as I love Paul Blackthorne as an actor, Quint's continued survival baffles me. I expected him to die in the first season and yet he's still around. He really should have died instead of Laurel. The series was building up to his death that season and it feels like they swerved solely to shock the fans and not for any good narrative reason.
I quit watching Arrow after S3, but I’m going to agree with you here. Several of my friends watch Arrow and were pissed that Laurel died. The main reason was that she was getting the best character development within the storyline. She went through some annoying trope characteristics in the first couple of seasons but eventually was given a redemption arc that won fans over. Even if some decisions you mentioned felt out of place or forced, it didn’t take them too far out of the show. My friends were pissed because Laurel grew on them, which is a sign of a show doing things right, only for them to kill her off unnecessarily. It was purely for shock value.
what is the name of the show where the girl gets pushed in front of the train??? also I completely agree with Cordelia Chase. she was amazing on Angel and her growth was astounding!
The Dyrel and Beth episode is one of the best episodes of TWD, it really fleshes out her character and makes you happy that she survived and still being a very good person at heart.
Although I would have loved to see Merle live but his character came full circle and it’s better for him to die while he’s good then live on to the point like he’s stale like other characters, as for Hershel his death have good plot development, Both these characters don’t make sense the only death that I don’t agree with is Carl’s but even that is helping the plot make sense for spoiler.... Rick letting Negan Live
Tywin was a villain, but he was a a rational and controlled villain. They needed to rough up kings landing and lay the foundation for some chaos. Tywin would never have let the High Sparrow get the power he got and we would have missed out on the entire faight militant storyline. Wait thats not really strengthening my argument is it...
hockeysong please, if they cared about the books, the show would be over right now, and not such a long-runner that Dorkly produces a parody of the Pokérap to mock how many people have died on the show.
you do know that the song of ice and fire books are over a 1000 pages each! 100 pages per episode basically, also game of thrones has stayed faithful to the source material, if you haven't notice George RR Martin is an executive of the show he gets a final say on whats should be in the show
@@hockeysong up until the last season. That's why the last season is in my opinion the worst season so far. GRRM had stepped back in a lot of the show to focus on writing and his other projects. Granted the last season wasn't following any books since the last book isn't finished but still it's the worst of all the seasons to me and when I found out that GRRM wasn't involved much with the last season it explained a lot.
Jesus matey. Did you not actually watch the show? It's just incorrect to say that Tywin Lannister "seemed to hate his children". He hated Tyrion, but it's nonsense to say that he hated the twins. Whoever wrote that needs to be slapped with a haddock.
I preferred Spike over Cordy, but Connor was annoying. Doyle should've never died, but I heard the actor was an alcoholic and that's how he really died.
Aww Charlie, my favorite part of Lost. That one is bittersweet since, although the show just wasn't the same without him, Dominic had asked to be killed off. Such a shame. He would've had a great development story if he stayed in the series.
Half of these are terrible examples. Herschel was missing a leg and wouldn’t have made it to Terminus. He would have been a plot hindrance if he lived any longer. Cersei is officially the only character keeping the final season from being a “good vs evil, dead vs living” shit we’ve seen in most fantasy. Tywin would have been smart enough to not backstab anybody when the entire world is at stake. And a couple of those character were FORCED to be killed off, since the actors were leaving.
Well, he was really likeable, but wasn't a primary character, so his death, even if it was sad and unexpected, didn't make much difference to the show.
Charlie was killed off in Lost because of Dominic Monaghan’s behavior on set. He blatantly insulted Matthew Fox and was vicious towards Evangeline Lilly after she left him for one of the show’s producers.
Regarding Beth from TWD. I saw her character arc as initially stymied but I think it just gave her a different place in the show - adding character archetype variety. She's the girl who survived (as far as she did) in the background, then died when brought to the foreground, eventually. I loved who she became so NO she shouldn't have died instead of Merle (though I wish Merle had gotten a better go of his redemption). Like Carol being a late bloomer, so was Beth, in a sense. She could've evolved into so much more.
Arrows Lauren Lance comes to my mind who should’ve died Felicity Smoke. Would have hurt Oliver more because at the time they were trying to be a thing he could blame him self as per usual for all of season five. Thinking he should have just never come back to Star City and now going in to Arrows likely last season he could have recovered from the death of Felicity and finally be with Black Canary. Though this might fuck up season 3 of legends because Sara wouldn’t have a reason it hate Damian so much.
I think the show really missed Tywin/Charles Dance but I also think it was necessary to progress the story and evolve Cersei as a character. On Lost, I kind of wish they killed off Sayid before they absolutely ruined his character in later seasons.
Beth was so interesting to me. At first I was like "eff her... If she wants to die, let her. " but then she became one of my favorite characters and helped me look at suicide a little differently... Though I still wish there was some full proof way to turn people away from it.
Same. She was just beginning to come out and realise she was stronger than people knew. That she could survive. And then a lousy "accidental" bullet to the head? WTF?
I agree with Charlie Pace, but for me the real pointless death was Libby. They set up for this great story with her and Hurley, but then when Ana Lucia dying had no emotional impact with test audiences (because Michelle Rodriguez was just a bad choice for that role), they killed off Libby to force the audiences to feel something.
I was far more upset with Fred's "death" than Cordelia. Cordelia's death had set up and an interesting pay off in the birth of Jasmine. Fred's death came out of nowhere.
Cordeilia's severely hurt Angel. It almost killed the show really. They never should have revived Spike. His death at the end of Buffy was perfect. It was the sendoff that character deserved. Outside of some fun banter, which Cordelia could handled, Spike added nothing to the last season of Angel. Cordy's death episode was really good and emotional, really showing Charisma's skills as an actress, but the rest of that season had a huge Cordelia shaped hole in it.
For the record, in Boardwalk Empire Jimmy didn't go to the meeting with Nucky expecting Manny to be killed. He makes it clear that he knew the double cross was coming but came anyway because he had nothing left to live for
Tywin is amazing but, thanks to Lena Headey, Cersei is the most complex and interesting character in Got. She actually starts the show's history with her betrayals and her decisions and she is a huge part of every evil thing that happens through the show so you thinking she should had died in season 4 is sooooo stupid, I would had definitely not kept watching without her.
Just to name a few of the ones that have stuck with me most... Bobby - Supernatural Hershel, Glen & Abe - The Walking Dead Lexie & Mark- Grey's Anatomy Ned & Khal Drogo - GoT Alcede & Tara (S7) - True Blood Ragnar & Siggy- Vikings Poussy - OITNB Bea & kinda Ferguson - Wentworth Rita - Dexter Does Jessica Lange on AHS count?
11. Neal Cassidy, Once Upon A Time Who should have died instead? Hook maybe? Or hell Even Emma, see how the Storybrookians would get along without their precious savior.
Allison Jones yea let's kill off the main character or the hottest pirate since Johnny Depp. Oh wait no that's not a good idea. Because either the show will end or you no longer have the hottest pirate since Johnny Depp.
jake lugtmeijer I mean she's the worst of the main Lannisters (not counting the kids or the cousons) in terms of character. She doesn't make particularly well thought out decisions and isn't devious enough to make up for it. She's become more and more flat as the show went on
Gum Gum Senpai Uncensored she was pretty flat in season 7, but I'm not gonna lie her revenge in season 6 was really brutal, even though she lost her son due to it. Ya need someone semi crazy
jake lugtmeijer I am certain that Jamie will kill Cersei by the end of the series and I can't wait to see it that bitch needs to die she killed all of her children
Jen A that's true I completely forgot about that evil little cockroach. So one of her children she didn't kill all the other she was completely responsible for. Although if you think about it she's responsible for his death because she influenced him to behave as badly as he did which led to his death
Babylon 5 killed off the endearing character Marcus Cole, who sacrificed himself to save the unrequited love of his life, Susan Ivanova (played by Claudia Christian, who promptly left the show unexpectedly a few episodes later).
As great as Tywin was, he needed to die. Not only did it give Tyrion some revenge, but it allowed all of Tywin's children to develop as their own characters. Before that point they often served as puppets for Tywin's plans but his death allowed for Jaime to start turning into a decent guy and showed how vicious Cersei could be without her father controlling her every move
Swap out Tywin for Stannis Baratheon and we're good because I'm convinced Stannis could have played a much more important role if D&D didn't ruin his character.
Show Stannis and book Stannis are not really all that different; in fact the show portrays him more favourably in some respects it makes him a better soldier, and a more powerful warrior than he is in the books. His character was hardly ruined.
I'd argue that if an actor/actress wants to go that does not make killing off their character a bad thing, If it's clear that the actor/actress wants to go, if you force them to stay your in danger of causing them to lose the love they have for the show, thus making them act the character badly so that the writers are forced to let them go for the betterment of the show. That then ruins the show for the fans. Better to have a loved character die early than to keep them on and risk losing the impact of their loss to the show when it eventually happens.
Ohhh Charlie! :'( It was a great death, one of the best deaths in TV IMO, but dammit I do wish they hadn't killed him. And haha WOW, Gus Fring, "casual menace"! WELL said!
Spoiler alert for Game of Thrones: For the books Cersei survives and Tywin died because Varys wanted to make sure that Cersei's ever growing paranoia and disdain of house Tyrell would lead to Westeros becoming weak and vulnerable to invasion from Essos by Aegon Targaryen, whom readers tend to believe is a fake, with the help of the Golden Company. The last little bit isn't being touched by the show, sorry! This information can be obtained in the epilogue for A Dance with Dragons.
for the walking dead, when merle died it was one of the best scenes on tv when daryl found out and also beth played huge character development for daryl again in season 6.
I think they should of stuck with killing laurel but then had black siren become the black canary instead of the HUGE coincidence of "oh my god there's another meta who has sonic scream, oh my god her name is Dinah what are the freaking chances"
Tyler Boring absolutely that was complete horseshit. They should have killed Felicity or Diggle I'm just glad diggles gone now the two of them are the definition of useless nothing but lying selfish Traitors and Oliver keeps for giving them both but shit's on the rest of his team
No! No way! I was SO HAPPY when Merle Dixon finally died! You may be right with Beth but NOT with Merle! And there are so MUCH MORE great villains in Game of Thrones than Tywin Lannister! I was always bored by Tywin, but Cersei made me so angry and that's in my opinion which a good villain has to do! Just my own opinion, have a nice day:)
People saying they killed Carl off to soon, personally I couldn't stand him. At the moment Negan is the only fleshed out character; Daryl is just a gruff guy with squinty eye, Michone is nowhere near as much of a badass as she is in the comics, Rick just mumbles and leans on his revolver like he needs a cane, Simon was just Trevor Phillips, Dwight feels meh...I think you get my point.
Lexa from The 100 is at the top of my list to be sure. Yes, the actress got another gig as one of the leads in Fear the Walking Dead, but they could have pulled some exile act, return at some point or guest appearance type of thing. Her death had a major impact, not only did the show lose an awesome character, it was also done after hyping up a romance and how fabulous it was going to be, only to kill her off 5 minutes after the romance finally took off. I still miss her :/
YES. You're totally right about Gustavo Fring. He would have been a shadow that was cast over everything. Have Walter "win" by beating him, but lose everything in the process. But not even that infuriates me as much as killing off Mike. I hate that so much, I refuse to accept it.
Gus had to die for Walter to become the final villain of the show.
Gus Fring died at exactly the right time. Breaking Bad was mapped out perfectly, and the end was perfect as it was.
Tywin not dying would have fucked the show a LOT more.

Exactly! Also he would never have let Daenerys cross the Narrow Sea
the thing to note about Tywin's death is also that Tyrion's arc just went different in the TV show then the books, which is why his death just feels off for some people.
Tywin died at the moment it needed to. Cersie has been the main villain from the first episode. Her evolution into the ruthless queen she is now is a major part of the show
Its hard to answer this question in GoT because a characters death more often than not is important for another character.

Rods toy box I just saw you on another video talking about neegan not dying in twd
He did a great job and redeemed a lot of the darkness in him.
I loved Charlie so much, he was one of my favorite characters.
Rods toy bo
Yep.
Gus Fring's death was fucking brilliant. Perfectly acted and executed and after all the build that came before it it certainly felt like the right time to kill him off.
I really, REALLY, disagree with the game of thrones one...
Especially since it's all still book-based back when Tywin Gets a quarrel through the stomach.
Game of thrones sucks
Who gives a shit if its book based or not? Still doesnt make it an interesting choice. Books are far from infallible, especially the aimless, drawn out, and unfulfilling shitshow that is the GoT books. Get off your pedestal.
MilkySubstance drawn out unfulfilling shit show? Really?
Can't say I agree. I can see why someone might come to that conclusion but personally I see it as long term story telling.
MilkySubstance have you watched the show or read the books?
I'd say Carl was a bigger mistake than any of the other TWD characters on the list
JayJay F-L shoulda killed rick tbh
Yeah and they killed him right before his story got good
Actually I find most of the characters just annoying. I was happy to see Angela, Lori, Shane, Merle (?) or Spencer dying.
The fact that Carl died but yet Rick is still alive bothers me to no end.
Christian Lang Early Carl's was season 5+ Carl was good
Bobby Singer from Supernatural.
Very pointless of having him killed.
LITERALLY
Hazeus I couldn't agree with you more! That pissed me off royally!
Not only that but the way they killed him left no impact imo.
Charlie
HIMYM:
Who died: the mother
Who should have died: no one
Legends of Tomorow for killing Captain cold
Cansel Struck Who should've died? Ray? Mick? Both would be just as bad
Luke Cage’s cottonmouth comes to mind after reading the title
Ike Rants Yeah instead og cottonmouth black maria should have died
Ike Rants I was thinking the same. He had so much more to give to the show
Such wasted potential
*Agreed*
Yeah they killed him off way too soon, diamondback and all the other stuff should've been saved for S2
disagree about killing Tyrese instead of Hershel, Tyrese wasnt nearly developed enough for his death to have any impact, Tyrese was a HUGE character in the comics, and killing him off before any real development wouldve been more insulting to the character, as far as hershel goes, he had already been through so much and hos character arc was essentially complete, he had gotten on good terms with both of his daughters again, kicked his alcoholism, and him giving his approval for Glenn and Maggie to marry, along with the watch he gave glenn as a gift, he had already left huge impacts on nearly everyone in the show, its painful to watch a character you love die but the only real thing hershel couldve added to the show later on was more heart-felt life lessons (which there were already plenty of) and maybe kept up his garden? it was a good time for him to go, and with tyrese dying there, we never wouldve gotten his amazing trippy-zombie death
edit:Ya know which character they ACTUALLY wrongly killed off? Abraham! instead of killing Abe, just kill Glenn! two deaths was unnecessary and Abe still had so much more he could have done, basically, just kill one, either kill JUST Glenn or JUST Abe, it downplays Abes death when another more popular character dies at the same time, Abe didnt deserve that, either hes the only one that goes out, or Glenn is
Also they shouldnt have killed Carl, make it like, literally anyone else
Gibbypastrami your funny if you think ill read this
"They" didn't kill Carl; that asswipe Gimple did!!
So stupid.
Carl
Glen, Abraham
I actually stopped watching the show a couple episodes before he joined the dead. I just got bored of it. When I found out he died I'm like oh, cool. He finally did it! Lol
Definitely shock value
Carl was killed so Negan could live. I can think of other characters this death could’ve worked on
Somber Stricken Carl’s death was absolutely pointless. It served no purpose what so ever
I think my big problem with this list is that so many of them are actors that wanted out, or had conflicts. Many of them weren't killed out of narrative desire. So what exactly did you expect the writers to DO with those characters?
Ha ha if true contradict the premise of video and concept of the whole channel, we won't even ask the author what were you thinking
On the other hand I wouldn't even remotely be interested watching any of these shows so I can't be objective
Opie from SoA wrecked me. He never caught a break.
Opie had to die though to stick to the hamlet theme with piney as polonious and Opie as Ophelia. Ophelia's suicide which was built up over the grief of losing her father but in opies case his father and also his wife. His death definitely hit the hardest though. 😞
Ianto Jones, Torchwood
His death was completely unnecessary and was only out because the writer wanted the audience to see that there was a REAL war going on between earth and the alien. The character was missed so much that www.saveiantojones.com was made and he got a shrine. He was completely the wrong person to kill off.
Agreed. Though they were going with "Who should have died instead" as an angle.
killing every freaking character is what got the ratings drop in first place.
Miracle Day is more or less when it went full "Jumping The Shark."
wizard lizard .....
What
Nah, Cersei was meant to live to the last and watch her children die before her; it's the only justice that could come from someone whose justification for inhumane action was "for her children".
Tywin died because GoT has to at least keep the core story in line with the books. It wasn't like they had a choice!
not only that but with Tywin is still around we have no high sparrow, which means no Tyrell deaths which means Tommen is still king and the crown is in a strong position.
Nerds Forever which is very boring :D
Gus, really ? I thought his arc and death were perfect
Tywin Lanister was one of the greatest characters in tv/movie history, no doubt... but so is Cerse, just because she's evil doesn't mean they should get rid of her. It's GoT ffs. That episode when she blows up all her enemies is one of the best scenes in the show. She's great.
Tywin Lanister was one of the greatest characters, ever, because Charles Dance can play a heavy without equal.
Not to mention that the events that played out after Tywin's death were important and would never have happened like that if he'd survived.
The Breaking Bad one makes no sense. Why should Marie die that early on in Walts transformation into a drug kingpin?
DO NOT TALK TO ME ABOUT CORDELIA CHASE!!! I'M STILL MAD ABOUT HER DEATH.
I kind of hated her replacing Doyle to begin with. I'm not saying I wanted her out of the show but Doyle was a much better character. Should have kept both of them and would gladly trade Connor for it.
@@DEMIxGODxSHADOW The actor playing Doyle OD'd.
Haha I was so glad she was killed off. Her character was already destroyed from Angel season 2.
I agree. Cordie, Anja, Wash, and Joyce Summers are murders for which Joss Whedon should be forced to atone.
Charisma Carpenter committed the cardinal sin--pissing off Joss Whedon while female. He had to ruin the character.
*Rick Cosnett's Eddie Thawne on The Flash*
He would've been fucking perfect to become _Cobalt Blue_
Who knows they can probably still do it
Shione Cooper I was upset too when Eddie died I like this character. On a separate note it is so cool to see a celebrity like you posting on here
James Logan
Lol thanks hon
Not a bad shout.
Shione Cooper How else would he be killed off though?
His death ended up being pointless too since Reverse Flash came back again
Spoiler:
Sean Bean Dies.
OMG this was a hilarious comment!
ExiILe00 wow thats never happened before
Lol saw Charlie in the thumbnail and had to click
Refracted Gaming he was the best character on lost
What about Carl from TWD?
Yes, Cersei hated Tyrion, but that's because that's the way Tywin raised her.
funny Tywin 's death was aired on all days. on father'sday .which was rather strange. to drive home a point of loving dad...?
Yeah, I agree Cersei was definitely *a* major villain for Tyrion.
Agree with most you said BUT ... she hates Tyrion because her mother died while giving birth to him and because it was told by a witch that she will be killed by her younger brother so she thinks it will be Tyrion.
@@nicoledenel True. But you can be sure that Tywin encouraged her hate.
When Jimmy Darmody died, I lost all faith in what was my favorite show at the time.
South Carter House of Cards
Carl Grimes on TWD and most recently, Nick on FTWD come to mind.
Troy to
The Dyrel and Beth episode is one of the best episodes of TWD, it really fleshes out her character and makes you happy that she survived and still being a very good person at heart.
Tyrion wouldn't have killed Cersei out of love for jaime.
I am sorry but killing off Cerci Lannister is just stupid
John Locke on Lost, his death was the departure of quality in the show.
Tywin was a villain, but he was a a rational and controlled villain. They needed to rough up kings landing and lay the foundation for some chaos. Tywin would never have let the High Sparrow get the power he got and we would have missed out on the entire faight militant storyline. Wait thats not really strengthening my argument is it...
well Tywin had to die in season 4 CAUSE IT WAS IN THE BOOKS!
hockeysong please, if they cared about the books, the show would be over right now, and not such a long-runner that Dorkly produces a parody of the Pokérap to mock how many people have died on the show.
you do know that the song of ice and fire books are over a 1000 pages each!
@@androzani84productions85 Tywin's death was one of those that affected the rest of the books/show. His death was necessary.
Jesus matey. Did you not actually watch the show? It's just incorrect to say that Tywin Lannister "seemed to hate his children". He hated Tyrion, but it's nonsense to say that he hated the twins. Whoever wrote that needs to be slapped with a haddock.
Man Im still pissed about Charlie. He was my favorite character.
cottonmouth in luke cage. the two villains after him where so bland, just completely lacked charisma. and the show suffered because of it.
I needed to pause this for a second because YES! CORDELIA!
Agree
SPOILERS:
Bob in Stranger Things 2. Completely pointless and ruined the rest of the season.
Jacob Turner what was even the point of the comment?
Well, he was really likeable, but wasn't a primary character, so his death, even if it was sad and unexpected, didn't make much difference to the show.
Jacob Turner what are you on about?
Jacob Turner there was like twenty minutes left after he died. How much could it have ruined
Andrew Mason actually a episode and a half..nice try.
Disagree with some of these (Merle Dixon, for instance) - would add Lincoln from The 100 to the list.
and also for the 100 Prince Roan should've lived instead of octavia
Killing off Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) on the 'Fear: The Walking Dead (Season 3) was a bad idea.
I loved Beth, her death and Tyrese's were the beginning of the end
Agreed! I hated how they killed her off after finally making her interesting. It was a pointless death that only served to depress the characters.
Beth was so interesting to me. At first I was like "eff her... If she wants to die, let her. " but then she became one of my favorite characters and helped me look at suicide a little differently... Though I still wish there was some full proof way to turn people away from it.
I agree 1000000%
Same. She was just beginning to come out and realise she was stronger than people knew. That she could survive. And then a lousy "accidental" bullet to the head? WTF?
So wrong about the GOT point
I agree with Charlie Pace, but for me the real pointless death was Libby. They set up for this great story with her and Hurley, but then when Ana Lucia dying had no emotional impact with test audiences (because Michelle Rodriguez was just a bad choice for that role), they killed off Libby to force the audiences to feel something.
I was far more upset with Fred's "death" than Cordelia. Cordelia's death had set up and an interesting pay off in the birth of Jasmine. Fred's death came out of nowhere.
I agree with Charlie from Lost and Cordelia from Angel. I've actually never watched any of the other shows on this list.
Barnett Brown III Good God man. I'm a little bit jealous. You have so many great shows to watch.
Cordy's death was a really shitty one. Charisma deserved a better exit.
Most of the shows mentioned in this video are uninteresting to me. I've watched Angel and Lost then stopped watching them when they went pants.
Yeah cordelia really should not have died.
I feel there is a good reason the people of what culture work on you tube and not on film or television lol god please stay on CZcams.
yeah don't quit your day job whatculture
You really can't fault a show for killing off a character because the actor can't/won't be on the show anymore.
For the record, in Boardwalk Empire Jimmy didn't go to the meeting with Nucky expecting Manny to be killed. He makes it clear that he knew the double cross was coming but came anyway because he had nothing left to live for
Cersi is way too important to have killed off before the before the final season
Umm you missed Laurel from Arrow, Felicity should have died instead.
It's true I never watched another episode of Lost after they killed Charlie and the Nirvana at the beginning was a dead giveaway.
Where is Carl?!
Glenn Rhee The Walking Dead who should've died instead Eugene Porter
Chris Moltisanti was a great character and his death at the end was incredibly powerful and fitting.
Just to name a few of the ones that have stuck with me most...
Bobby - Supernatural
Hershel, Glen & Abe - The Walking Dead
Lexie & Mark- Grey's Anatomy
Ned & Khal Drogo - GoT
Alcede & Tara (S7) - True Blood
Ragnar & Siggy- Vikings
Poussy - OITNB
Bea & kinda Ferguson - Wentworth
Rita - Dexter
Does Jessica Lange on AHS count?
11. Neal Cassidy, Once Upon A Time
Who should have died instead?
Morgan O'Brien-Bledsoe Neal had more ties! to other cast members than Hook But Emma had to live
cersei should've died? never speak again please
jake lugtmeijer I mean she's the worst of the main Lannisters (not counting the kids or the cousons) in terms of character.
James Logan I agree she's gonna die, but dude she didn't kill Joffery that shit killed himself
I thought I heard that the actor who played Charlie wanted to leave LOST because he had a new show on BBC.
Dominic Monaghan got killed of off Lost because he's incredibly difficult to work with and didn't get along with many of the cast!
I heard he became hard to work with after his relationship with Evangeline Lily ended
My friend would agree he stopped watching walking dead because they kill of I think Glen
Glenn's actor wanted that death because of how iconic it was, how anyone could be mad about that is beyond me.
Thank you
I don't think i have ever seen a death executed as perfectly as gus fring in breaking bad. That is one of the best scenes in TV history
Arrow with Laurel Lance. Should have been Felicity.
Yes
WELL said!
I disagree with your 1
And 2
Flash killed HR instead of Iris
We get to watch different versions of HR. I like Sherloque version.
Spoiler alert for Game of Thrones:
For the books Cersei survives and Tywin died because Varys wanted to make sure that Cersei's ever growing paranoia and disdain of house Tyrell would lead to Westeros becoming weak and vulnerable to invasion from Essos by Aegon Targaryen, whom readers tend to believe is a fake, with the help of the Golden Company. The last little bit isn't being touched by the show, sorry! This information can be obtained in the epilogue for A Dance with Dragons.
for the walking dead, when merle died it was one of the best scenes on tv when daryl found out and also beth played huge character development for daryl again in season 6.
Jerome from Gotham
I disagree, the Heath Ledger imitation of The Joker image is needs to be buried. While Ledger did great at it, it's just not The Real Joker.
Arrow for killing Laurel Lance instead of Felicity Smoak
To be fair, they're both shit.
I think they should of stuck with killing laurel but then had black siren become the black canary instead of the HUGE coincidence of "oh my god there's another meta who has sonic scream, oh my god her name is Dinah what are the freaking chances"
Laurel is the worst character in the Arrowverse, I wish she'd been killed off earlier so I might have actually cared instead of celebrating.
Tyler Boring absolutely that was complete horseshit. They should have killed Felicity or Diggle I'm just glad diggles gone now the two of them are the definition of useless nothing but lying selfish Traitors and Oliver keeps for giving them both but shit's on the rest of his team
Felicity is awesome though.
No!
You can't really call it killing off the wrong character if the actor wanted to leave
Season 4 of breaking bad ended the way it did because they weren't certain they were making a season 5.
Charlieeeeeeeeee
And now Nick from fear the walking dead! I'm so done with the show now...
Sliders! Man, I love that show! And Cordelia
@Lily Rose You're right, Cordelia was not in Sliders. I was just saying that I liked both: Sliders and Cordelia....even though they aren't related
Arrow
Died: Laurel Lance
Should have died: Felicity Smoak
Well, you know how fanservice works. Stupid romance value.
