Young buck, the Modal Nodes weren’t on a stage. They just play in one of the alcoves minus a booth and tables. Also, they already released the Modal Nodes like two years ago as a Pulse Exclusive.
Also, hi is any of the half assed. What you are calling unfinished is exactly how the set looked in 76’ when they started filming.
for $400 it should at least come with a floor…..and a Galactus

There is a spot for the cantina band. The wall that has the window on it is where they are in the movie. They even specified that that was a unique wall. It doesn’t have the floor, but that is where they go
The cantina band weren't present in Elstree Studios when the cantina scene was first filmed. Hasbro said themselves that the went with the original blueprints to make the cantina.

We had the cantina band released already. And there is a spot, they play inside a pod in the movie so just put them in one
At that price, i would expect a ceiling with some dim lighting built in to really give the place that dim and sketchy look honestly.

You're absolutely right! I'm backing it even though it doesn't look like a dream project. It should look more complete. It should look like a complete building and not just the inside of a building. It's like just having the inside of Jabba's barge and not having it look like a barge as a whole. The ghost looks complete as well.
They are the Tonn i ka sisters and those arched places are called Alcoves. And there was a Cantina Band released and they stood in an Alcove.

It sort of comes off as if you want it to fail so you get more bang for your buck in the future. Star Wars fans are very passionate about the franchise and i would dare to say the 3.75 fans a bit more, that's one of the many reasons we cling to that scale, some even want the cardbacks as they were back in the day. Just a fun fact: there are fans that have been loyal to this franchise almost twice the time that you have been in this world (now i feel old 👴). I really hopes it funds all the way though i doubt it will reach all tiers.
Not a star wars collector but I'm guessing with the modular design they will release the band stage separately down the road. Much like they're releasing additional pieces for the Classified Hiss
The band don't play on a stage in the film. They're just standing on the floor in one of the alcoves.
There is no spot for the Cantina Band because there was no spot for the cantina band on the actual set. They were added in reshoots
The 400 includes the figures and the bonus tiers are included in the price. That’s what haslab teams have said. I do think the package is overpriced as this would be 250 for the cantina alone like the throne room but they want us to pay for the whole package not just the cantina
Good video mate....$229 was bad enough for the Palace set with the hollow archway made of thin plastic....Def feel this is overpriced and - they'll say "it's an early model" -- but it does look cheap....
I 💯 agree with this video. It feels unfinished and the open inner workings of the manufacturing really stands out to me. I couldn't display it like it is. It just feels underfinished massively.
This seems like a 3D print rather than an official licensed set worth over 400 dollars 👀

This is all based on the filming set in England. The band was never actually there. The band and close ups of the majority of the aliens seen in their “respective booths” were filmed later in Los Angeles using a single mocked up booth so they could flesh out the scene, as Lucas was unhappy with the original results. Even those forward facing shots of Greedo were filmed in L.A. It’s usually assumed that the band was just playing in the far back booth past where Dr. Evazan and Ponda Boba met their fate. No stage, just empty booth with no furniture.
What's weird is there are 8 canon members of the Modal Nodes. In the movie scene the 8th member, Lirin Car’n, is sitting at a table trying to get his kloo horn back after losing it in a card game.
@@Lukenessmonsterplease go pause on the wide shot of the cantina in ANH, you won’t see The Modal Nodes. The actual, real cantina does not have a band stand. Modal Nodes were all reshoots in LA while the rest of the cantina was filmed in England.
Completely agree with all of your points… Hasbro has TVC collectors by the balls with the Tonnika sisters though. It’s also getting frustrating that they don’t have one carded one loose per exclusive figure (even if it’s an add-on). I’m more on the fence about this than anything which has come before. I could overlook not having more finished pieces if they just had the damn bandstand for the Modal Nodes. They JUST released that set. How has that been overlooked?!
I'm not going too lie it's over priced but I've been waiting on this cantina for a long time ,I've been holding on too a lot of cantina aliens and stuff I could have sold but something told me not too ,,so now I have a Boom Boom room for my figures ,plus the twins made me jump aboard so I got the deluxe set I'm not trying too miss out,,just think about it if it gets backed an for all the people who doesn't back it ,,have a change of heart I would hate too pay the after market Scalping prices,,you only live once so you should enjoy your self,an I believe I'm going too enjoy this ,,so too who don't back it you guys have your reasons but too me ,, I've been waiting a long time for this ,

So no floor? The bloody floor is key to the cantina in my opinion- Walrus man’s arm is removable precisely for the purpose of placing onto the cantina floor. I want to like this so badly but it feels so incomplete to me, what about some light up features
This will be a pass for me. I haven’t the space for many large pieces so it really has to wow me. I probably should have backed the razor crest but oh well
I don't understand how you can look at the all the amazing details in this set and call it "half assed"...
It should be complete. External walls and roof.. also the bandstand should be there. I have close to all the cantina characters, but the price takes to the joy away.
I'm going to be pragmatic about this. This is the only cantina we'll get, and the sisters won't be back. If it fails, it won't come back for a long time. Just like the rancor, there's no guarantee they'll return. Therefore, I'll support it, but I'll also get another one to sell. I don't support scalping, but this is an open pre-order. Since it's from the original trilogy, it will likely have good resale value. Additionally, the lack of enthusiasm means lower numbers.

N, not a floor. A floor would compromise the modularity.
A floor would ruin the modularity, also how does it work if you only buy the base offering? There would be holes in the floor for the other pieces which would be annoying
My thing is where do you put something like this?? It's awesome, but it takes up so much space.
Also, I can already tell if you look at it wrong those little cups are gonna be falling over and rolling around and then you try to pick them up and knock more stuff over 😭

It's cool but I got to pass for many of the same reasons you pointed out. Also missed opportunity by Hasbro not to say Hey, in the next 2 years.We are going to release a bunch of other cantina aliens. Some of those aliens are super expensive on secondary market. If I was to buy, I'd want to populate it. So would be nice to know there are more figures coming along the way.
I’m not saying I think this is the case, but it really looks like they’re selling the inside as one Haslab set and then will release the outside facade as a separate Haslab later on
I’ve backed the basic, can’t justify the £100 for a couple extra booths, plus if you display this high, all you’d see is the back of the additional booths

There will be less carded Tonnika Sisters than Blue Snaggletooths. You'll get at least $200 for each sister immediately on the secondary market. I backed 3 sets to sell the parts on eBay. Everyone who doesn't see the value in this offering is a damn fool.
Remember when they made a point to mention that the Ghost Rider car had a top, middle and bottom...now these Haslabs can't even do that lol. Like I understand the logic behind no roof but why no floor? Like if this was a much cheaper retail release I can understand that but a $500 Haslab should be a complete product. For the price I wish they could have done it in 6". Like it's literally just walls and small accessories. I love playsets and it is neat, but they are really asking too much. And they knew that by offering less for $400. The sisters are cool to see, but we all know they would pegwarm as standard releases 😅. Those are for the hardcore fans.

Playsets have always had giant walls missing. For a premium product yeah they could have covered the outsides better. I didn't even notice the stage for the band was missing.

Couldn't agree more. The blatant unfinished structure is quite frankly insulting for the price they're charging. If this Haslab is successful, that will absolutely tell Hasbro that it's okay to continue to design products like that. If you could buy the parts of this set individually for $60-120 each, I think the unfinished aspects would be more acceptable. But with the whole package as a "premium" item? Nahhhhh, hard pass.

Good question. The real answer is it doesn’t exist. Go back and watch the wide shots in ANH and you won’t see them. The Modal Nodes were picked up in reshoots in Los Angelas. The actual cantina doesn’t have a stage for the Modal Nodes.
I'll buy 2 or 3 as an investment. TVC Haslabs always sell for more than the initial price on the secondary market, and this is the friggin cantina, we're talking about the most iconic scene in Star Wars here. This playset will be highly sought after for the Tonnikas alone.
No likeness rights were in play. Not sure who started that whole thing. Whomever owns the property rights owns the likeness. Even Carrie Fisher joked about that years ago. She said that every time she looks in the mirror she owes George Lucas $5(!)
Not sure why people would think that two actors who are on screen for two seconds with no lines in a movie 47 years old would have any rights of that kind. Pam Rose who played Leesub Sirln never knew she had a figure until a friend phoned her and told her so.
Hello Lukeness I don't collect Vintage figures so I'm not backing this project. This does look good but it doesn't impress me either. I do hope this funds for those who want it. But I also kinda hope it doesn't.
How can Hasbro make a Cantina without a band stage. And no lighting in those coves, it's going to be so dark. I'd have to drill holes to install LED lights. That would be a pain in the butt.
If this project fails Hasbro might reevaluate the Haslab process. But for now I'm going to look once in awhile and wait patiently for the end results.
Yeah I definitely agree with you with everything you are saying and it’s doesn’t even worth a lot of money either and it’s not a must have for me and I don’t not want to waste a lot of money on this either so I am not buying this and I am not interested in this as well
As a Black Series collector I'm super envious of this Haslab and those figures. I have the Black Series Cantina Showdown bar and it's just begging for a complete cantina set up on a table. The set includes an extra set of Ponda Boba hands/hoofs? and the Obi-Wan has a photo-real face. There's also a second Black Series Cantina Showdown "set" with a non-photo-real face Han and Greedo at the shoot out table but the furniture is made of cardboard. So it's not really worth getting unless you're a completionist. I agree with Luke that $500 is too much. I do think it will be funded though. TBH I would pay $500 for a Black Series version if it had all the tiers unlocked. I guess I would 3D print the Modal Nodes stage and the floor. It would look absolutely amazing fully populated by all the characters.

You do understand that a $500 black series cantina will be half a***s, so ylif you want the whole black series cantina then you better cough up 2-3 grand because that's how much it's going to be for your doll scale.

Guessing no lights & sounds are included with it, should have the entire bar at that base price. Very glad it is not a black series project, but it will look awesome full of figures.
Easy pass for me, screw this. No Cantina stand for the band. No floor base, electronics, lights, or action features on it. The only playset I'll shell money for (depending on how they design it) is a Death Star playset. What I REALLY want is a Tantive IV Rebel Blockade Runner spaceship that is decades overdue.
