- I have had the Sur Ron Light Bee black edition for over 3 months now and it is an absolute blast to ride. In this video I go over the pros and cons plus go for a ride around town to show you how it performs. Tomorrow I will make a video on how it does off road on the trails! Sur Ron x review 2020.

You have the best review on this bike man, thank you! Solidified my decision about getting one!
I had one go on a surron and im already saving for one , they are so much fun it’s like being a kid again!!
These things look so cool man. Thanks for sharing. I've seriously thought about getting one. Look forward to seeing you mod it.
They are a blast for sure but maybe the technology at this price range is a year or two away from being really something special
Solid state batteries will be a huge game changer for these things when they're finally in production.
Edwin in what conditions You ride I mean temperature an terrain becouse i rent Surron Light Bee L1E in 6C on stock battery I manage to ride not even 2h. It was on sport mode woods with riding in sand and light hills.
So true about riding anywhere. I rode around the roads and campgrounds at Yellowstone! Ranger just waved 👋. This was with my Alta MX.
So happy your videos popped up in my feed! Very excited to see more. Definitely a subscriber now!!
Awesome thanks for joining the party I'll be making more for sure!
I had Fox 40 shocks on my Stealth Electric Bomber, could take a serious beating on the big jumps. The Stealth has a coil MX shock so the rear was always plush for what it was. At the time, I had a bike mechanic sell me his Fox 40s he used on his MTB for Whistler BC. I was the third owner, but this other guy rebuilt them to perfection. I put in 82,000 km on those shocks and the bike over 4 years before someone tried to steal it and sawed the bike into two at my wife's condo basement. My welder told me he could fix it but it had already gone through so many welding jobs as I pretty much rode it MX styles on my many long commutes. I gave it to another guy and he was able to get it back to life. He is a lot heavier than I am and said the shocks were top notch, not bad for a bike that is now over 7 years old.
Sounds like an awesome bike! Fox forties are on my wish list for sure!
@@EdwinOlding yah bro, awesome memories and your videos remind me a lot of how awesome the torque was. Especially when I used to Regen into switch backs and slingshot myself out with the throttle. Fox 40 s now look even better from what I saw at the last UCI DH worlds. Fox racing had whole series on Jordi who is their main Fox 40 expert.
Awesome review man, digging the little course you got there! I live in Los Angeles so most places I'll take the bike and love discovering things I wouldn't have seen otherwise. Although half of the time out riding, I'm answering people's questions about the bike haha. Looking forward to more of your vids!
Hey sounds like a great way to get a break from the city that's awesome! There's some beautiful places to ride in LA for sure and thanks!
Was not expecting to see one of the dudes from Grind Hard Plumbing. Awesome video, thanks!
Thanks for posting 👍
My friend has one of those bikes and he really likes it, I have not tried it out yet, I’m sure after the first time riding it I’d probably end up ordering one 😂
I picked up a Rad Rover e bike, it’s basically a fat tire bike, not really that good for anything crazy, just smooth trails and back roads.
It is however an awesome way to get out and enjoy some nice places. Take care Edwin 🙂
Hey that sounds cool but you could cruise on pack snow with that thing too! and that's exactly what happened to me my sister bought one and then I ordered one later that month haha
Great job love the bike love the channel keep them coming
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome love the changed name and mixed content. Keep er up
Yeah I didn't want to back myself into a corner. On the kind of person who gets really into something for a few months to a year and then once I get sufficient at it and move on to the next thing. So this channel should be the cool platform for me to experiment with whatever I want at the time haha
@@EdwinOldingI am the same type of person. Get good, get bored then find something else to do haha. Awesome review.
Love ur videos man, keep it up👍
Thanks will do!
Apart from your review, I love your "dont run away from the lord" voice
I have the same bike and feel exactly like you do about it. I ride way more, have way more fun and explore my area. No one even looks twice at me as long as I act respectively. Looking forward to your mods.
My ideal would be better tires, taller bars, more acceleration and top speed and longer battery life.
Yeah some sort of big battery kit would be awesome for these things. How far do you usually get out of a ride mate. Really keen to get one just to go around the trails that run through the neighborhood.
That unexpected ditch hit so hard it knocked ur soul loose and started hearing two of you on mic :P
True!
🤣🤣🤣
I liked this format I subscribed
Awesome glade you dig it!
I hate you because you just made me want one so badly now 😭😂😂😂😂. So freaking cool! The possibilities it opens up for me. Commuting to work, riding every trail I would take on with my Mtb, cruising through town.... Dang it man. But the price tag is a problem for me with my current job
That thing I a lot of fun! There is some good trails near me! One or these would be awesome!
Im liking the idea of this channel 🤙
Glad you dig it! It is going to be fun!
Got one on order can not wait…..
I've just seen one going down the road. I was doing 74 in my car and he was keeping up. Most impressed, pulled straight out into traffic and blended in no trouble.
If you’re talking mph he certainly upgraded his battery and controller
@@je7647 Sorry thats kilometres per hour would be
45.9mph
@@chuckmaddison2924 oh Yeap that’s around their top speed stock, you can go well over 100kph with a stock battery and controller
Custom battery*
Looks like Seattle ! It’s $6000 here in Canada.
That looks like great fun
Looks like Sandpoint. I would love to drive up that way from Post Falls and check out a Sur-Ron in person!
Great video, does anyone know if you can buy the "street legal" version in USA? It comes with mirrors, blinkers, and turn signals, and is available in other countries.
i so wanna build my own one of these
Entered the giveaway! Been looking at a dirt bike, but live near the city and in a neighborhood with cranky neighbors. I would love to add this thing to my collection of projects someday!
In that case it is the perfect bike for you. Good Luck!
Gonna probably get one soon. I do a lot of fishing/camping and you end up biking/hiking hours just to get to a spot whereas I'll get this lil guy and cruise to all my fishing spots locally and when I got out camping.
It would be perfect for that!
Yes
That looks pretty rad!
Thanks!
I ride my gas bike from my house to the trails. Have a 40 mile loop I do. My trail would be completely different with one of these bad boys. Need a couple so I can cruise with my wife.
@edwinolding,
Does the charger turns green when full because mines battery says 100 but the charger still flashes red
Mate this thing must be sick iv been watch the bac 4000 conversation and that rips.the thing I like about these is u can rip these about without pissing any1 off there so quite
This is the LIGHT BEE S ? please answer bro ! Do you recommand it ?
Thank you very much
Looks like it's a blast!
That it is!
Nice work, really good video. I am planning to buy Sur Ron but i have doubt about battery temperature as we all ride dirt bike to their limits so this electric version batteries will heat up a lot, its a most important critical factor but no video shows what exactly temperature behaviour of sur ron batteries in field, can you guyz show us, it would be so exciting to watch temperature behaviour of Sur Ron battery in action.
Upgraded battery and controllers keep track of temperatures and display them. I dont think you would ever over heat the bike completely stock unless you ran multiple stock batteries back to back racing on a super hot day. Upgraded battery and controller can try the motor if your arent cautious
Love the idea of these but here in Australia looking at 5k
Was that a soccer goal graveyard?
Just stumbled on your channel of course im a ghpc subscriber but good work man. Making me want to get something like this even though it doesnt make sense for me because i live miles from the city and on a small solar system.
It claims of 45 mile range but I'm not sure how realistic that is. You could use the battery as part of your solar kit! How many kilowatt hours does your setup produce? I'm super interested in off-grid Power systems!
@@EdwinOlding I've got 5.5 kwh of storage and about 2500 watts of panels. Its just enough for 2 people on low power consumption. It works great with generator backup but i still plan on tripling my storage and panel count. I have to carry extra fuel when i ride my xr500 just so i can make sure i get back home so 40 miles would only be good for just around the property.
How does it do in water
Cheers for the good video, what's its top speed? Looks like a whole heap of fun
Normally it's around 45 mph but I've seen people online get over 60
All it takes is some gearing changes but you definitely wouldn't be doing 60 uphill even with the gearing
That's pretty quick, and by the looks of your video it gets there quick too. I'd be interested in seeing some more adventure videos if you get the time to make them.
some guy on youtube says the seats are too low for tall people, that seems to be the only criticism I find about these bikes ... I really like how they look though.
Wow. They are £4,495 here in the UK. Which is around 6k in dollars. What a joke my country is man
Well, in germany youll pay 3900€(3979$) for the non street legal and 4600€(4686$) for the streel legal one..😂
Here in nz it’s 8000$ for the non street legal one
Looks like fun I just found out 10 minutes ago these even existed and I assumed they would cost more than a gas powered bike. This looks like it would maybe be equivalent to a 125 four stroke.
Current cost in Canada is the same as a Honda CRF 250f (air cooled) so way overpriced for what you get.
yea and they just went up in price recently
@@Danielxperez14 just check base here in Edmonton it's $6000!!! WHAT?!?
I've put 55,000 km on my WR 250R since 2011. Ten years insurance @ $500 yr and 250 tanks of gas at $15= $3750 CDN . Batteries are expensive but your basically buying your fuel for 10 years!
Hey that's awesome that's a good amount of riding! I'd hope these batteries last 10 years but they haven't been around long enough to know for sure haha
Is the surron x also the light bee?
Cool review! Funny to see someone else into electric dirt bikes and cryptocurrency mining haha. Where are you located? Looks like PNW?
Hey! They have to be the two coolest things you can get into in a hobby level right now! That and following SpaceX haha yeah I am In North Idaho
The cost in Australia is like $7,200! My question is, how long does the battery really last? Is it like 1hr if you rise flat-out, or 2hrs if my son rides at about half that pace?
It’s about double the size in battery life of a regular pedal assist bike about 4- almost 5 hours
How tall and heavy are you? I'm 6'7" and 240pounds.
We’re did you get it like the website
Link where u bought yours please?
Where did you purchase?
Where to buy this bike?
For the price you can't beat it. A decent mtb would be another $1500. I'm thinking about using for commuting. I could take it through the state park fireroads and bypass all the Orange County traffic (and have a blast doing it). These bikes are going to kill the ebike commuter market.
What helmet mount do you have?
Where do your order one?
What's the range of that?
im trying to find one of these online and the cheapest I found was 3k on like alibaba, anyone know a legit place I can buy one for like around 3k?
Ifhey're made in China so my assumption is that you would be getting a legit one Look at the seller maybe
As a kid in the 80s in a rural area, I had both motorcycles and bicycles. I think I actually had more fun per minute on the bicycle because you had to go so fast on the motorcycles to make anything challenging, especially once I got an RM125, and you couldn’t bunny hop them around and so on. But you’d get tired fast on a bicycle riding on grass. Something like this would have been a blast.
i feel the same way but with cars, I used to love cars and couldn't wait to buy my own. drove for the first time, it was so exciting. all I could think about is when I was gonna get my first car and then I got my ebike which changed everything. I get way more fun and get my adrenaline going 25mph on a bike than 50 in a car.
I'm debating on getting a sur ron but don't wanna be hassled by cops
Would love one but uk not so cheap.
Interesting about the need to upgrade tyres, gearing and shocks, typical Chinese saving them a few $s but costing buyers more to upgrade.
True! Does the UK have high tariffs on goods from China is that why?
@@EdwinOlding yes from what I gather I would possible end up paying more than double the price plus vat for a whole bike.
If it is sent in parts it is cheaper, I would be happy to assemble it from parts personally .
How many hours riding does this equal..thinking of getting one sticking in a van and pop off into some woodlands my ebike would do about 3 hours hard riding
It depends on the use. Mine lasts 1.5 hours of uphill and off-road route. On the flat ground I think it lasts the double
Has anyone experienced slight loss of power?
can it fit in sedan car ?
Just ordered mine can’t wait to get it
And how is it men
@@TimKrauseFilms love it best thing I ever got
@@turbotim9009 how much range you get in a normal road going in sport mode and also in eco mode?
@@RandomVidz9_ 20-25miles in sport pretty heavy on the throttle about twice that in eco.
@@RandomVidz9_ if your thinking of getting one do it you won’t be disappointed
OMG I want one💸💸💸💸💸
I see a lot on alibaba but they are like £400. Is it the same or is there anything different?
Nah there 2.4 brand new
@@tobiaslaycock7758 Should i get it from there?
This one of the guys from Grind Hard Plumbing?
Love the Vid seriously considering one of these. Being an idiot and whole lotta noise is 90 plus % of getting in trouble in the first place. LOL
Build a mini tesla power wheels. It would be a sick little ripper
That would be awesome!
WHAT only 3.6k? Ive been looking for them now and theyr about 5.4k$
Could be a good practice bike for me I do motocross and MTB but I can’t ride my Gas Dirt Bike around the yard really because of a neighborhood behind are house
It would be perfect for that
How long before you need to replace the battery what’s the cost
72v cost like $1500-2100 for good ones
Hey did you know that the light bee s is coming out in a month from now
So a new one?
I want 1 so bad
You ride like I do on my bmx on steroids!
That sums up the Surron really well... BMX bike on steroids
Dude I own a Sur Ron Black Edition Light Bee & respectfully there is no way you are riding for 5 hrs on 1 Battery (even in the slowest mode). My Sur Ron is new as of end of Oct 2020.
I should have been more clear about that. I rode all day before but it was around the woods slowly and I was on and off riding it all day. Probably under 3 hours of actual ride time
@@EdwinOlding Ok now It makes sense - I figured you must have stopped & took in the Scenery a few times - LOL!
sounds like a turkey going over those bumps 😂
you bought me at 5:03
1:15 sec yeah did u cut the green wire for the mod
Oh yeah first thing I did
were these also the stock tires?
Yes
Im pretty sure you can clip the green wire...
are the children allowed to fragile it?
Is this the smaller version of th Sur ron X?
It is a Surron x
Smaller version is called the x160
Where did you find it for 3600? I keep seeing 4100
Inflation
@@inkjnk that could be part of it but it looks like Luna only sells the x model now which has an updated controller and other goodies(apparently)
Now it's 4200 :(
What’s the top speed on it?
190mph
Unfortunately here in Canada $7000 with tax.
Website where you got it?
Luna cycles in the states
$6000 + up here in Canada lol
its 5000$ atm in germany
Where do you live bro
North Idaho!
Why am I seeing ads for this on Facebook for $100

Can't be doing this on public foot paths.
Not to sound like a no no
No way aren’t you the dude from grind hard?
I am! This is my little side project because I'm really passionate about electric motorcycles right now!
They should do new terminology , the rag range, the range you get going like a bat out of hell, ps if you were black doing a wheelie on it you'd get shot lol
Does anyone else hear turkeys ?
Ripped off again in the UK at £4,700 pounds 💷
Yeah we never get the same kind of deals you see like these things, I'd buy one tomorrow for $3500.
Same with bafang mid drive bikes, uk tax / import is too high.
Need to build them.in this country maybe?
My ebike conversions have defo given me a taste for ele tric power.
Who high is the tax?
@@EdwinOlding depends what customs decides but they can charge up to 100% anti dumping, import handling fees added too, then the total cost inc those charges are subject to 20% vat.
So,
3700 becomes, 7200 plus random import charge, ignoring the import charge for now
7200 x 20%= 1540
7200+1540=8740.
Some suppliers on Alibaba say they can get the bikes through customs for around 400 including postage so must be sneaking them through somehow.
Another way to avoid anti dumping is to send the bike in parts because only complete bikes are subject to anti dumping.
the custom ones are more palatable at around 2500 to 3000 especially since you can buy each part one at a time. Theres a few designs but they all seem to use a similar frame and motors. you don't get the same noise as the sur ron though... maybe a bad thing maybe good... hard to say without actually trying one. Its a lot of effort to research and make those bikes though and you don't have the reassurance that its reliable and well designed ... sur ron needs to be half the price in UK then I would buy.
@@ash0787 I hear some people are adding pedals to the suron to try to avoid police attention lol.
I'm happy enough with my DIY bike conversion
As a skateboarder please make sure your not trailing mud all through the skate park as that’s what people will moan about more than you actually riding there
So little maintenance!
these electric bikes need to be engineered for better sound.
now its 5000$ Lol
Just shopped one in Idaho for $4.5K. Crazy the variances in prices.
That one stupid leaf on the camera...
I'll have to check my lens more frequently next time! That bummed me out too
