I thought the food in Malaysia was average but I do enjoy the food in Singapore which doesn't make sense as the people from both countries have the same ethnic background (Malay, Chinese and Indian) and they cook many of the same dishes. If you ever visit Singapore again I would recommend you try a few of my favorite dishes such as chili crab and seafood fried rice at Jumbo Seafood in ION Orchard, carrot cake (not the dessert), Laksa and mutton satay at Newton Circus.
I totally agree with you Zoe about the food in Malaysia! I lived there for six months, and the food is definitely over-hyped. Especially at the Hawker Centers and street food! The restaurants I visited were pretty good though!
