Well everyone, this is it. I haven't uploaded a level in over a year now and it ended up being by far my largest project to date. 420 hours is a lot, over 3x the time I spent on The Sulphur Sea. Making the un-decorated version of this level alone took 113 hours, and I honestly couldn't be happier with the result.
This minigame is by far the most detailed, polished, fun, smooth, difficult, and optimized of any of my minigames. The level is under 80,000 objects, which, since it reasonably takes more than 8 minutes to beat, makes it more optimized than Change of Scene. In terms of performance, I never drop below 200fps through the entire thing, which is over twice as good as Floating Maze.
What's ironic is, this entire level started from a failed collab with Zenovia (or Lunziestella). We were going to make a platformer bossfight with custom songs and sfx, and out of curiosity I went ahead and made a prototype for new platformer controls. The controls worked SO well that I started making prototypes for a full platformer minigame. Next thing I knew Floating Outskirts was born, and it was going very very well. Now it has become my sendoff to 2.1, an update which has taken up a third of my lifespan. I still can't wrap my head around what 2.2 will be like, all I know is I'm going to dominate that update. There's a reason I haven't called any of my levels 'my masterpiece', you'll see the dawn of my masterpiece in 2.2...
But, this isn't the end of my journey for Floating Outskirts, in 2.2, I'm going to update the level to not only use camera controls to reduce lag even further, but I'm adding more secret content to it and sfx. Be prepared for that..

Is this Geometry Dash? Yes.
Is this 2.1? Yes.
How did you do the sfx? It's not in the level, it's just editing.
How do the controls work? Left goes left, right goes right, and pressing the opposite input while moving makes you jump.
Is the length of music enough to the level? Soundtrack is 14 minutes length?
Upd: I have found only 4 minutes version of Static Symphony.

Amazing job pulling through with this! :) Your levels have been some of the coolest most unique levels in the game as of late. As a creator, you've cemented yourself in my all time favorites.
Extreme demons have been getting really stale for the most part, and the floating series but especially this are finally shaking up the scene a bit.
I know I compare literally everything to Zylenox lmao, but I think what you're doing is really similar to what he did back in the day. You've brought a super unique, recognizable art style to gd and you've created some of the most memorable solo extremes and other levels with that style. Your levels ooze charm and I hope they continue to rise in popularity. Excited to see where you go in 2.2! :)

The level of complexity the physics system has is unimaginable, bro just implemented fucking MOMENTUM, WATER MECHANICS and WEIGHT MECAHNICS??

My jaw DROPPED at that green orb thing that broke. The atmosphere is just unbelievable in this level, and the sfx in the video was just amazing. Im SUPER excited to see if this will become a speedrunning level people will do. I can’t wait to try this when this gets released. Huge congrats to you on this insane level.

List Demon Minigame with under 80k objects and it's a solo and have this level of quality consistency and polish, man I swear creators just constantly releasing banger after banger towards the end of 2.1 era. Can't wait what ppl can make with all of the new 2.2 features, if you can achieve something like this in 2.1 with level of attention to detail, level design and all that!!!

I found two places, where can be coins: 1 - beginning of the Foundry (face in the left upper corner); 2 - the second room of Aqueduct (the upper of two pipes).
And probably somewhere in the Palace.

Feels very strong vibes of cave story. Amazing level design and i like that every part has special mechanics like shooting traps in the temple or when you getting outweighed by the key in the vault. Cant even imagine this was made in GD, it looks like complete game. Truly a great job dude! Waiting for more banger from you next times!

I'm really glad that Rob gave people time to finish their levels up to 2.2, because we're getting one masterpiece after another at the moment. And this level shows what platforming levels should be like after the release of 2.2, especially demons. The final moments of 2.1 are really impressive.
My guy made 2.2 platforming before 2.2 even came out. TWICE. First with Maze, now with Outskirts. Super happy to see this finished! Biggest of props to you man, this is an absolutely insane level you’ve pulled off that’ll be cherished for a long time within this game. This level really made me see the importance of being able to add sfx and change song pitch in 2.2
The song slightly muting as you entered the water is GENIUS, as well as the drone of the drill bearing down on you as you flee - the sound effects really add to the intensity and sense of urgency. Imo this guy is the best platformer creator of 2.1. Excellent level bro, GGs!!

This is amazing, it feels like a complitely different game inside Geometry Dash. One of the best levels of update 2.1 and the whole game, this is wonderful ✨✨
I cant even tell that this is GD anymore! The sheer amount of detail you put into every inch of this from making sound effects in the video to the smallest little details in the water and the clouds. The entire level just fits together despite there being 10 different areas and the way everything flows so well just shows how much of a masterpiece this is!

This gives me huge Rain World vibes layout, world and aesthetic wise, but difficulty and painfulness wise as well. Especially The Exterior and The Wall. Which, if I'm being honest, don't know if it's a good or bad thing yet. Absolutely love it though.

Oh my guh it's done
I really like the looks of the gameplay, looks really fun. Also kinda funny and cool that you can "skip" floating outskirt by doing the secret ending in floating maze, since you shatter the orb in the end anyways. By the way, the sfx really makes the level a whole lot better so I am looking forward to that when it's properly added in 2.2.
Also remember when I was shocked over actual physics? Gah DAMN I did not expect for it to be so well to the point where the cube actually slows down in water. Good job on that.
