I love this whole concept of banana boxes. So much easier to understand than liters or cubic feet. More honest, also.
Neighbours: "Lock the doors and close the curtains, Hedda. That man is packing cardboard boxes into a car again".
That comment made me think that it might look like preparation for bodies, instead of boxes!
In the UK there used to be a competition to see how many (live) PEOPLE you could get into a Mini. That progressed to VW Beetles, culminating with Elon Musk fitting a crew into a Model X :-) at the Launch.
It did make me wonder: Could you fit more "Small Asians" into an EV 6 than you could "Big Americans" ? LOL
0:55 actually you can open the door automatically without touching it and it works by proximity (while carrying the key on you).
In order to do it you must previously activate the specific option on the control panel menu of the car and then if you place yourself at the back of the car (while carrying the key with you) it will open the back door automatically after 3 seconds.
Anyway, I personally prefer the option to open the door by passing the feet at the bottom. But this proximity method also works fine in some situations.
By the way, this option is only included on those EV6 models with automatic backdoor opening.
Where the heck is “what the heck is this thing”???
You seem to have misquouted ..
"What da heck is this sheeeeeet?!"
;)
@@Old-Bald-and-Grumpy not really. Check Bjorn’s other videos, including today’s LED light bar installation onto Millennium Falcon.
@@superleggenda Ok. Just trying to be funny. "This shiiiit was on earlier EV6 video"
On Kia you can set it up so that the trunk opens if you stand like 5 seconds in front of the trunk with your key.
Nice one. Now excitedly waiting for the edited range test of the EV6 which I saw in the live stream last week. Should be much better than Ioniq, although it was of course much worse weather, I guess
Kia should make a station wagon variant of the EV6...
just like the porsche taycan - would be awesome
We call them estates here, not station wagons. My wife drives a Ford Mondeo estate and she loves it. Over 300,000km on the clock now but she doesn’t want to change it. An estate version of the EV6 or Ionic 5 would definitely change her mind, although she would really love a BEV version of what she has.
Due to kids exams this week she is doing four or five school runs a day ATM, at 30km per round trip. The amount of diesel she is using each day is killing me, I’ll have to plant another couple of hundred trees to offset her driving.
If they do that, I would be throwing money at it.
It's always bothered me that they made both e-Soul and e-Niro but never an e-Ceed SW. That would have been a perfect family EV.
Isn’t it already a wagon?
I suggest you also do a "below the cover" banana box test for all cars. When I go on a road trip with my family and park in many foreign locations in foreign countries, I only ever utilize the "under the cover" space. It'd be interesting to know for example if the EV6 can fit more under the cover than the e-Niro. As your current Banana box test suggests EV6 doesn't take more boxes than the e-Niro. ..but for a road trip, under the cover, isn't it bigger?
The area under the front of the bonnet is pretty dirty for such a new car, seems like a bit of a design flaw allowing water penetrate under the bonnet.
Toyota driving position... Best description ever! :-D
ah yessss, the most important test, the banana exam!
In a german Banabox test we would count how many beer it can hold. we have two sizes….11er and 20/24 Bottle crate.
Another tester countet the glases of nutella. ev6 and MachE are good enough for ikea….
I am wondering if Kia norway includes the typ2 cable and ICCb ?
You should also put bana boxes on the two front seats. Cause when you really need the space for luggage for your holiday, you might as well drive the car remote by the key and just walk by it's side :-))
Love the Ev6
Sweet. Ordered our car yesterday
On the preview I thought you were strutting your dance moves at the back of the car.
"If you want a cooler car, go for EV6" - Nein, Bjorn! My IONIQ 5 is way cooler. 😀
Have to agree!
But what does Mrs. EV think about the EV6??? ;-)
@@CyAn-S Agree 100%
@@bilgyno1 Not keen! She told me I did well to get the IONIQ 5. I was too busy picking myself up from the floor to video that comment, sadly.
EV6 is the fugliest EV since the first generation Leaf.
If you put the banana's in the car individually it is possible to carry a lot more.
Don't forget... there is normally room for one in each sock too! 😉🇬🇧
Hi can we have the other tests soon please, I'm planning on buying an EV6 and desperate to see the 1000km challenge thanks
This is actually a car where I like the specs from, despite this test might be a little disappointing for some.
0:52 Russian squat dance 😆
Banana boxes for the win! 🤣😂
It seems that you didn't activate the smart tailgate option. That opens up the trunk once you approach it with the key. No awkward ninja kicks required to open the trunk.
For me this really needs too long to react.
Some seconds till it beeps, then beeping, and then hopefully finally opening.
Ninja kicks are quicker.
I like my ID4 with its 9/25 total 😸
@@abraxastulammo9940 true, but I prefer the style and UI of the VW over the Tesla 🤷♂️
Bjorn goes Kung Fu trying to get the rear to open....darn short Asian legs!
Good stuff!
Bjorn, I cannot find th e front legroom dimensions for the EV6, do you happen to know those? thanks
Not too bad
So 23 boxes, same result as the much smaller e-Soul. Interesting.
That trunk seems to open pretty high, a problem in a low roof garage or parking areas?
Nice video! Does the front passenger seat also fold/tilt forward or does it only fold/tilt backward?
Thanks
why always raining in Norway, all his videos are done in the rain
Amazing Bjørn. On your list is both listed Hyundai Ioniq and Ioniq 5 with vastly different amounts of banaboxes. What is the difference?
Ioniq is Hyundai ioniq 28 or 38kwh
Ioniq without a number is a much older model from Hyundai.
Also commonly called "Classic Ioniq"
Man, I tested the EV6 here in Stockholm this week. I'm 188cm/6.2f , and have 34inch in jeans length, and the car was too low even in the driving seat! I hit my head turning left (maybe because of the sunroof?). And in the backseat I became totally squeezed when resting back. This is really a shame and was unexpected since I drive a Kia Niro where headspace is not an issue. This will be a problem in the Nordics/Netherland and I foresee the Ioniq 5 to be superior here due to this fact.
Probably becauase of the sunroof indeed. This ( czcams.com/video/QfC6ZuCb1Y8/video.html ) guy is > 2m (hence his youtube channel name) and seems to fit in an EV6 without sunroof.
I also tried EV6 with and without sunroof. I'm around 187 cm and the sunroof was uncomfortable, but without sunroof was fine. I didn't try the back seat though.
Actually, the EV6 I tried without sunroof also had the non-electric seats. I wonder if those seats can go lower than the electric seats perhaps.
@@synthdrummer That also sounds possible. Will check the next time I'll get an opportunity.
Can't wait for the Ioniq 5 US release. Looking forward to the GV60 🍌 box test XD
yeah still waiting for them to announce prices for US
@@christopher01221
On Canada Hyundai site, top trim dual motor is $59k CAD which converts to $48k USD
VW ID4 on both Canada and US site, the top ID4 top trim in Canada converts to $46k USD, but actual MSRP in US is $48k
So if this is anything to go by, I'm guessing top trim Ioniq 5 will be around $48-50k
@@kumo21 not seeing your conversion the same. 1 CAD = 0.79 USD. (0.79x69,000=$54,500 USD) right?
@@christopher01221 sorry I meant $59k CAD not $69k
Hands full of Schmutz! Made my day! 😂
You can now start importing bananas.
Den nya tidens Christer Glenning ;)
« Real men dont read (car) manuals »
And I say « real reviewers always should » 😂 and how did you know where the subwoofer was?
Hi, somebody know the consumption?
Dont know how much bananas there are in a box 😛
I almost got this car, but it doesn’t hold enough bananas..
starting banana business ?
RMNRM 😁 (real men never read manuals)
Sechster 😅
How many bananas do you need? 😉
IONIQ 5 IS BETTER
Too small
Looks terrible from behind and the sides 😬😱
I have to disagree I think it looks great
I think the front looks crap. The rest, especially the rear is futuristic.
I guess each to his own. Personally I like the front a lot, the back a bit, and I dislike the sides :P
@@AP13P Agreed. Front looks dull. Sides and back look great.
Erster😁👍
