    I was actually told not to add ANY amendments by a certain "test garden expert" here in the Las Vegas area, and planted 8 new fruit trees all in native desert soil, which is basically sand. Thanks to this video I've corrected all of my two year old trees the way Jay instructed, and am planting any new trees with plenty of good amendments. Earth worms are coming in !! Thank you so much for this very helpful video! I'm joining your gardening class, too.

    Thank you! Finally found a video that actually tells you how to properly water depending on the temperature. Most articles I've read or videos that I've watched give watering schedules that state to water an "X" amount of days per week when "hot". The problem is that their "hot" could be 85 degrees, meanwhile my location is hitting 109 in May.

    Good video guys. I have a lemon tree that is 50/50 in a sick condition. [13 yr's old] I hope it gets back to green and the curly crustie leaves disappear. Never had a lemon tree and i am learning the slow way.I live in San Tan Valley and our soil really sucks here. Topsoil is about 3/4" and then the clay is present. The nursery sold me some gypsum when i bought some plants and told me to throw 2" in the bottom of the hole and then put my plant in and make a 50/50 organic mulch with the existing topsoil & mix. In regards to the lemon tree i have shoveled back 4' the stone that is everywhere and have sprinkled 5 cups of NPK citrus fertilizer. This is the right amount according to the height of the tree which is about 8/9' tall.I also intend to spray a liquid fertilizer on the leaves tomorrow [07/08/2017] [*Is this a wise decision?] For the past 2 days i have flooded the drip line area as you have mentioned here on this video. Before that the nursery told me to water for 1 hr every other day. And the end result is as mentioned, not enough water because of our hot 100+ consecutive days with no end in sight.

      @ VeganAthlete When you look at large scale mono-cropping you probably think how inefficient and detrimental to the soil, etc. Looking at your bare fruit trees elicits a similar same response for those of us who cover the understory with several layers of plants, shrubs, etc. Especially since you are in the desert, that undergrowth would both feed your tree and retain more water.

    I just found your channel and I'm new to gardening,you and this guy have already made me feel a lot better about my garden as I had very little knowlege. I had a couple questions,I live in NY state and I can't grow all these fruits that you can, plus my wife is all about our flowers and flowering trees. 1.What kind of good fruit trees and plants could I grow in my Yard in NY state? 2.How do I find a balance between my wifes beautiful magnolia trees and my functional fruit trees? and 3.I have an older Mulberry Tree in my yard (Not sure what type) but what could I do for an older fruit tree? It still bears fruit but is thier anything I could do to make it happier? Thank You so much for all your help. I"m very young and look forward to checking out your store aswell. the first thing you should check in a sick tree like this is the root system, dig near the trunk to the roots and check for nematodes knots symptoms , check for roots rot fungus symptoms and check for competing roots coming from a nearby tree like a fig or a mulberry

    HEY TEACHERS can you please do a video on avocados, because my tree bore a lot of fruitlets then, all fell down leaving me with just one small fruit. How to make the fruitset stay on the branches ? I SPRAYED THE FRUITS with Sevin powder to keep the birds away.

    • @cattfishing
      @cattfishing Před 4 lety

      Huh? You sprayed sevin powder? To keep birds away? Sevin dust is an insecticide. It's not meant to keep birds away and wont. If it dropped all its fruit, then it's not the birds. It's the tree in some type of distress. Heat, insects, diseases can all be the cause for your tree to drop fruit early.

    @Pay-It_Forward Před 6 lety

    Jake the collapse of the grow point shoot apical meristem cells is caused by too high of a (Magnesium:Calcium) ratio!
    Magnesium causes leaf hyper breathing & loss of moisture though the leaf stomata cells,
    Resulting in water stress. Magnesium speeds cell expansion & slows cell division.
    Resulting in larger cells with thinner cell walls which hyper-ventilate. Give th tree gypsum!
