A very accomplished Organist. He created such a rich tone with the instrument, obviously knowing how to arrange the settings to get a sound that isn't screeching and uncomfortable to the ears...many Organist play too loudly. LOVE THIS !
I know people hate this statement..but It's nothing like that old sound that takes you through all week! I love all the new styles but songs like this one always seem to cut on the inside of your soul!!!
Theres not a friend like the lowly Jesus, No, not one! No, not one! None else could heal all our souls diseases, No, not one! No, not one! Jesus knows all about our struggles, He will guide till the day is done; Theres not a friend like the lowly Jesus, No, not one! No, not one! Be Blessed.
Marcel West I am so happy I found this song my great grandmother [Mrs Mercy Brown] used to sing it all the time. Since she died; I have heard it she died. She died when I was a teenager; this song has bought back good memories. I can just see her sitting there on the back porch step singing in Sweet Jamaica, Manchester 🇯🇲
One of the original Baptist Churches Great Songs, A song that could move the Church with Music or without.......The Spirit was always in the House when we Sang this song......Don't forget the B-3 Hammond added the complete touch . Thanks Marcell for these great clips.....Pastor R.D.A. Lawson Sr.,
Loved Jimmy Dowell...his music ministry was unlike no other...they just don't make em like him no more...Churches don't believe in the old way no more...sad!

So well said! they can have their Tye Tribbet, Kirk Franklin and anyone else who sings CON-temperary "gospel" But as for me and my house, we'll stick with the hymms of the church! Someone once told me that hymms and ole skool gospel is "cookie cutter gospel" As I told this individual..I will keep on listening to this "Cookie cutter Gospel"! For it is this kind of gospel which reaches the heart and has sent many(myself included)running to the alter asking, what must I do to be saved? Bless you!
yes Darryl played for St. James while Rev. Nicks was alive. Andre Woods became the pastor of a church named Revival Tabernacle Church Of Christ. Be Blessed.
I have never seen heard a choir other then St. James Choir (us) sit and sing under thee anointing. The choirs today can't hardly stand through a full song without moving and etc.

Mrty' I am with ya 100 per cent! Theres nothing like it! ..and never will be. Like an old preacher friend said years ago...like a bowl beans sticks to your ribs..i say this type of gospel will take you through anything!
I agree.the word and the music had you humming all week long. this new music is sooo unchurch like that I wouldn't voluntarily go and have to subject myself to it every week. so sad.
