This is the first 2k I played other than 2k5. But I played a full 82 game season and all of the playoff games with 12 minutes quarters. I played as the bucks to meet the Portland trailblazers in the finals. So I think it’s fun to see you also meet them in the finals.
Seeing these menu's give me a bad case of nostalgia I grew up on this 2k played it by myself with friends watched youtubers play it and everything glad you're giving it some love Clique.

What if….and hear me out. What if you did a playoff tournament bracket out of legendary coaches and their best players? The rotation can be 5, 6, or 7, whatever you prefer. But you essentially pick Phil Jackson’s best players vs Pat Riley’s vs Popovich’s best players vs Auerbach vs Spoelstra vs Rudy Tomjanovich. You can choose the coaches you want, of course. And for the players pick their best or all-time version. Like for Popovich you can pick 2019 Kawhi, it doesn’t have to be 2014-2016. What do you guys think?

76ers fan, this is gonna be a must-watch lol... the days of when you could draft Luka with one of these picks and make this team a dynasty lol. And I guess in retrospect if you do it right you can get to the point of signing LeBron or PG, trading for Jimmy, drafting Mikal.
I was mad bored and I went from the Mikal draft to the Tobias signing, butler S&T, Horford signing , etc. in transactions. Like where it shows you every Philly move even tiny ones like ppl moving up and down from GL. I’m not a PHI fan but that was a masterclass. The only thing that bailed them out somewhat was ORL trading that 1st and a cpl 2nds or w/e for Fultz. The pick that ended up being Maxey. Crazy thing is tho they owned that pick previously from like…JG trade? Something like that.
There were just so many opportunities to be like wait Wtf are we doing here? Like for some reason they were so sure ‘21 was gonna be the “double draft” as if they had some secret intel making that Miami 1st insanely valuable even tho Miami is like never that bad. Like one trash pick to move from 10 to like 20 whatever is pretty wild especially when Mikal was such a goated fit on and off court.
Then I originally thought they only gave up that FRP for Tobias, but it was like that one, another, Shamet who was having a rly good rookie yr shooting the lights out, and two DET 2nds. All for an expiring Tobias who wanted the max. And I’m a DET fan…I liked Tobias a lot. I was so mad when they moved him & a lotto pick & Avery Bradley etc for Blake. I expected them to move AB for a mediocre af 1st, then maybe trade Tobias for a pretty good FRP or two solid ones. Bc we were bad and should’ve been not chasing the 8 seed. Even tho I thought Tobias was good, and it was a good trade DET made for him, he was already on his second deal. So I figured let him ball then trade him w like 2yrs left on his deal for good assets.
KCP was summer ‘17 going in to 17-18. So ya that’s the same yr they moved Tobias for Blake. He was literally the 8th overall pick in his 4th year. He was improving on D, had his best 3P season Y4 so far, drastic FT% improvements, and never missed games. It was very obv he was gonna at least be a good two way starter and could possibly be a high volume 3P shooter (35% on 5.8att Y4, up from 30.9% on 4.9att Y3) etc. DET literally let him go sign a 1yr deal in LA lmaooo. SVG gave mf Langston Galloway the full 3yr MLE which hard capped them. 3/21. Idk why he wanted Galloway. That meant they could only pay him like $16M. They offered him 5/80, which wasn’t some crazy lowball, but it was no player option and no 8th ovr pick that played well wants to be locked up for 5yrs at less $ than he thinks he’s worth. But there were no offer sheets. Instead of just waiting SVG renounced the QO. He signed for 1/18 in LAL. SVG era was incredible in DET.
Or the best one ever. SVG turned down 900 picks for pick 8 when BOS badly badly wanted Winslow. Like they were offering an obscene package of picks. Reportedly 6 total. They offered it to CHA too but MJ couldn’t resist a 7 foot white dude in Kaminsky so that wasn’t happening. The exact package isn’t out there, but it was something like pick 16, pick 28, pick 33, (what ended up being) pick 16 next draft, (what ended up being) pick 31 next draft, AND one of the premium picks. One of those SAC picks. That’s where it gets muddy. Bc who knows what the protections on whichever one would’ve been. There were so many picks and swaps and trades w other teams that involved weird swaps who tf knows. At the very least, SVG took Stanley Johnson over 16/28/33/16/31 and then some other pick. No shot it was unprotected best of BOS BKN or whatever. Or unprotected BKN. It was prolly a second best of like 3 diff picks and I’m guessing would’ve landed in the late lotto at best, 18-22 range at worst. But still. Say it ends up 22. I mean ffs lol.
16/28/33 in ‘15, 16/31 in ‘16, 22 in ‘17. Id take 16/16/22/28 for 8 all damn day long. It’s not like Stanley Johnson was some can’t miss prospect. He did miss, just like all of SVGs moves. Stanley, Henry Ellenson, Kennard one pick b4 DMitch, then the pick that was moved for Blake ended up essentially as SGA.
Lord what a tangent. DET under SVG was traumatizing. What I was gonna say was, if those idiots didn’t move Mikal for Zhaire and a mediocre pick, they would’ve had Mikal Joel and Ben. Could’ve made the same trade for Jimmy for peanuts. Then NOT traded for Tobias which is insanity. You go in to the summer with those 3, Shamet who had value and was a bench sniper, and endless amounts of cap. Jimmy wanted two things. A 3+1 at the max, and for Philly to get rid of Ben bc he saw the same BS in MIN out of KAT. He knew he was immature and wouldn’t put the work in.
That was the peak time to move him too. Coming off an ASG, going in to Y3 of his rookie deal, all the hype. Only making like $8M. They paid Tobias $35M, Richardson $10M+, and still had enough to pay Horford $28M in FA. So you’re talking Jimmy, Mikal, Joel, some role players, empty roster spot hits, and $40-42M+ in cap. The max was $32M Y1 for a 30% cap max.
With Ben making only $8M and all that room, they could’ve done any deal. Ben, Mike Scott, and another small filler deal (~$16M) for a guy making $32M? Sure no issue. Still have boat loads to fill out the roster. Ben for a truck load of picks to set themselves up for a future star trade? Ben and filler for a really good 3&D PF and a buncha picks? Oh and PHI not only had all of their own 1sts, but a couple extras already. Maybe trade Ben and Scott for like a couple insanely lightly protected 1sts from a horrible team desperate for talent, and a solid PG or wing? Awesome.
You go that route, you are like +4 +5 in FRPs, and can go sign a Bojan, a solid vet PG until you can find your future one, another really good role player, (1yr ballon deals) and you have Mikal Joel Butler, some good depth, a pick that’ll be in the lotto the next couple drafts & a swap (so you’re gonna end up w 3 lotto picks in the next 5 years) from Ben trade, Shamet, and rolling over your cap to next year to go star hunting. Or to find one via trade.
Hell just imagine Butler Mikal Joel with a bunch of shooting and that’s like your floor. Smh 🤦♂️ I feel your pain. Darko. 😂
