Only mission that made me pull my hair was the one on the refinery with the mob shooting at you and killing you within 1.5 seconds of receiving fire with no seeming way of going around their SUVs without losing the race
fuck that mob battle. When you start the stage, you literally start slow and you have no chances of avoiding the sandwich from the two porsches while avoiding the helicopter gunfire. It literally forces you to either use a reset instantly or just replay the level for a faster start.
I agree, I find the handling like a "good" compromise between arcade and simulation, and if you manage to get used to how the cars behave they become so satisfying to drive
For anyone who wants to play this, and doesn't want those glitchy particles, just cap your framerate or enable vsync and it should cut down on most of them, without turning down your graphics settings
Extreme difficulty was very great, it's the first time a NFS game challenged me. Time attack was so hard, the one on ice was a nightmare to pass but still possible and the time attack OST is so great
I recently did this a few weeks ago on keyboard and tbh the only event that gave me a lot of trouble was the final stage 8 event. Everything event took me 3 attempts at most and then that damn final stage 8 event took me 10 because I kept getting destroyed before the first checkpoint.
I remember doing this on my ps3 for my first ever platinum trophy and that thundering plains part took me Atleast 2-3 hours to beat it was so damn difficult.
The thing about the PS3 not really keeping up with the game is completely true, sometimes it didn't even bother to render the icons for the quicktime events (making it a "NOPE!" and a ragequit)
From my experience, handling in this game is different for their "classes". Sports are all rounders, exotics are a bit of a bet, and muscles are ice skaters. With sports and some exotics, you can get away with flooring it on corners but for most supercars and all muscle cars, you need brakes. It makes rhem more bearable to drive.
Extreme isnt hard because its difficult, its hard because its blatanly unfair. Opponents have insane rubber banding, perfect grip in corners and sharp turns and never loss traction, and their cars handling aren't affected by environmental surfaces like dirt and ice. Combine that will their insane rubberbanding, and you have complete hell. Oh and mob suv's and the helicopter gunfire can near insta kil you will little ways of mitigating damage. This is coming from someone who did beat extreme

well you really can't make it longer imho. The Cannonball Run concept is good and the only thing they could've done to make longer was to introduce more rivals and make most races 1v1s vs 200 otehr cars.
I've always replayed the campaign on extreme on my xbox 360. The only way that I could pass 3:15 on extreme is by either doing the previous one & then completing this first try or keep playing & rail into the first opponent. Just that a certain playlist mission lags hard & I can't get a gold medal on it. Either way, its a good game & until I get a new adapter, I might just try to complete it in once I get my new power adaptor since mine just died out. :( Also can't play on xbox series x wah
I'm not exaggerating literally the only way I could beat that level on extreme difficulty is by setting my transmission from auto to manual. I was struggling to beat that level for 3 days, swapped to manual, beat it first try, not kidding. Idk why but automatic seems to be terrible on this level in particular
Lol ProStreet wasn't that hard, the only difficult bits were trying not to get fucked by Rudy Chen and surviving Nevada Highway C... the rest felt pretty easy IMO

This is by far my favorite NFS, and part of that is because of Extreme difficulty. It’s so rigged most of the time, but it’s so rewarding to complete every race, especially the time trials. Every time I play, I go Extreme and use no resets. It’s annoying how the resets automatically activate when you crash, lol.

i finished it on extreme twice, on manual shifter. the hardest part is in the beggining when you gotta do that time race with the starter car on offroad

They should have kept using the Speed, the Chameleon or the Madness game engines and start from there to develop their NFS games since they're better suited for racing games. I played this on extreme the hardest events are the time trials and the final mob battle with the helicopter…imo

You need to limit the game to 60fps to have proper car sounds btw, anything above fucks with the sounds for some reason (and the handling too iirc).
I played it not long time ago and had no bugs so am suprised this game had even bugs.
