    I saw Iron Butterfly 3 nights in a row at the San Jose Teen Fair in the 1960s. Strange, I don't recall the Iron Butterfly Theme getting any airplay in the 60s on the fledgling FM radio here in SoCal. I only recently discovered this gem.

    This was a theme song for me when I was 13. No really! This song played as a background for the George Chakaris choreographed Ann Margret stage show at the South Shore Room at Harrahs Lake Tahoe. I remember it like it was yesterday. What a privilege it was to hear this music in 1969!

      @Cienega32 Před 5 lety +1

      Danny Weis went on to be a founder of the underrated Rhinoceros - some great tunes on that 1st album (the only good one from them).
      Interesting quote I found: Weis later recounted "Erik Braunn replaced me in Iron Butterfly, and if I remember correctly, he bought a lot of my equipment, some of my clothes, they tried to clone me basically..."
      I first saw the Butterfly at the World's Fair NY State Pavilion (maybe the Ball tour?). Actually, I heard them as one of our friends couldn't handle the mix of Butterfly and some outstanding hits of Blue Barrel. We ended up staying outside with him on a bench. Saw them again in May 1999 at Texas Station in Las Vegas.
