  • At its 2018 I/O developer conference, Google showed off some updates coming to Google Home and Assistant. One feature - Google Duplex - can make phone calls for you and talk to the person on the other end to schedule appointments and make reservations. Google says the feature will roll out as an experiment over the coming weeks.

      It probably depends on what the call is for, like the hair salon, the person at the salon taking the appointments actually could've been an AI and neither one would know any different, some businesses are starting to use really smart AI that understands things so clear they even know if you give them a compliment, like if you say "smart computer" as a side phrase, the AI will say "Thank you" Then it will guide the conversation back to the business at hand, yeah it can be surprising to people talking to the AI.

      This should be a good thing!! The fact that today we deem rapidly evolving new technologies as *"disruptive"* speak volumes about the continued relevance of our global socioeconomic system AND NOT about our technology!! The problem we need to address is the inevitable demise of what makes Capitalism viable, labor for income.... Don't get me wrong, capitalism has served us well, but for future generations it will be a straight jacket. Time to redesign our socioeconomic system, the best solution I know of is popularly known as a "Resource Based Economy" designed by 101yr old Jacque Fresco. +Jacek Stankiewicz based on your name, I wouldn't judge you for not knowing the actual definition of what anti social means in english, but because you just had to call the guy an idiot, so I will.... Anti social behaviour means a sort of behaviour that is not socially acceptable, i.e.: not normal (in the sense that it is not civilized, not that its simply abnormal). So a person who ran around naked on the streets is anti social... a person who isn't comfortable with interacting with other people is not an anti social person, they're just a person with weak social skills and/or who is uncomfortable interacting with others........ idiot.

      Yeah
      Imagine you work at a restaurant, or any other venue place
      You won't know if either a robot is talking to you or a real person

    • @MrManBuzz
      @MrManBuzz Před 6 lety

      ᒍᗩᑭᗩᑎ The point is it dilutes what it means to be human. There's a very real existential problem with not knowing whether you're talking to a person or an AI.
      You can no longer just assume you're communicating with a person.

    What happens when businesses start using this instead of customer service and one A.I. ends up calling another A.I.
    Would they talk to each other like people, or would they have something to recognize a fellow A.I. and just communicate using more efficient methods?

    I would laugh my arse off, if they were just both actual people and they just called one of them google assistant 😂
