@@thesaintst1851 Pereira will not enter the Octagon smiling at Jones like a dazzled fan. Furthermore, Gane is miles away from Pereira. Reyes and Santos managed to stand up to the younger Jones. Pereira, now in his prime, can beat Jones, who is already halfway through his life after so many years in MMA.
As for grappling, now it's heavyweight. It's one thing to find time for a takedown, it's another to submit a big, strong guy. It will be a fabulous expenditure of energy for Jones to do so, and he will only do so if he gets that position easily. However, that won't happen, because Pereira has extensively trained in takedown defense and survival on the ground. It's just what you need. The rest is calf kicks and volume of strikes.
So, rationally, I don't see any ease for Jones on this journey. On the contrary, if the fight goes to a second round, I'm convinced it will end with a knockout for Pereira.

Jones has recently expressed his wishes to fight Poatan right? This means two things:
1. Jones and his team with Greg Jackson has reviewed Peirera and his fighting abilities. Furthermore, as always with Jones and his coaches, are one of the best if not the best at finding out weak spot in their opponents abilities. Jones wouldn't try to blow this fight up if he did not believe he would absolutely roll on Peirera.
2. It is a good marketing option, to defeat the upcoming 3x div champions. Would probably sell huge.

Magomed couldn't beat Jan so he's not in a position to make terms or to have Alex wait for him once Alex foot recovers go time.
