We have an update! Lee sent the fluid to a lab to be tested, then ordered a CT scan for Delano. Six weeks later, he returned to the office to get the results. By that time the bump had already started to fill up again. The testing showed that the fluid trapped in Delano's back had actually leaked from his lymphatic system - the network of tubes that keeps our body fluids in balance and helps us fight off infections. There was a blockage in Delano's lymphatic system - like a "kink in a garden hose," Lee said - and the lymphatic fluid was leaking into the space beneath his skin. (The scientific name for the issue is a lymphangioma, Lee explained.) The bad news was that he'd need surgery to fix things. The good news was that the growth wasn't cancerous or dangerous. Lee said she planned to refer Delano to a surgeon to repair the leak - and presumably, he lived happily ever after. It's still not clear whether or not there will be more episodes of "Dr. Pimple Popper," or whether it was just a one-time special. INSIDER reached out to TLC for more information but did not hear back immediately.
This poor sweet intelligent young man was homeless due to growth on his back because he couldn’t get a job (!?!) I hope his life is better now as he deserves the best life. He had a future working with older adults that need assistance - he’s so kind and gentle.
I think he’s assuming that his lipoma is why he isn’t being hired. Just being down on yourself because of a physical abnormality can impact how a person presents themselves and can cause them to not be hired. I used to hire for my company and looked for applicants who were confident but not egotistical. If a person walked in and I could sense they had no confidence in themselves, if they had any appearance of them feeling like they’re a victim in life, I wouldn’t want them working for my company. Bumps and lumps and differences in physical appearance mean nothing but a person with no confidence is a red flag.
That man has had a tough time. All he wanted was to work, provide for himself, and be proud of himself. Better man than many out there. Respect to him.
The part when he spoke on being homeless really made me tear up. I’m glad he was able to make it out of that situation. He seems like a really sweet person and while I don’t know what came of this situation since his episode wrapped up, I still hope it turned out to be a very happy ending for him.
If this is trapped spinal fluid from a leak I can’t believe he hasn’t had any side effects from the leak. Biggest clue was he “felt it in his head.” He is lucky because you can die from a leak. I have had 2 and major surgery for one already.
He had a lymphangioma. (Noncancerous fluid-filled cysts that form often on the head and neck. These cysts form when lymph fluid backs up and doesn't flow normally through tissues.)

Delano, a patient on the TLC show *Dr. Pimple Popper*, had a large fluid-filled lump on his back. Testing revealed that the fluid had leaked from his lymphatic system, a network of tubes that helps the body fight infections and keep fluids in balance. The fluid had found a space under the skin on his upper back. Dr. Lee removed 33 syringes of liquid from Delano's back. Six weeks later, Delano returned because some of the fluid had started to come back. The fluid-filled cyst, called a lymphangioma, was benign and not life-threatening. A surgeon needed to remove a kink in Delano's lymphatic system in his neck.

This is crazy but I saw this a few days ago and legit saw someone in the gym today with the same lump in the same spot. I really wanted to talk to him about the video and the surgery but I decided not to. I kinda feel bad I didn't.
Perhaps you will see the person again. I suggest that you ask him if you may talk to him about his lump. Then he can respond with yes, no, or hesitancy, and you can proceed accordingly. The person might not be open to any discussion for many different reasons. If he doesn't want to talk about it, you will still have made the offer to help.
This goes to show you, the doctor you choose matters a lot. The first doctor he went to had no idea what to do and had no connections to go to for help. If the first professional you go to fails, always try looking for a second opinion from someone more well-known and respected, it could make all the difference. No one would've guessed it was some sort of brain fluid leak that ended up stuck in his back, it's too uncommon. If he didn't assume everyone was the same, he would've found better help wayy sooner. Thank god he had a guardian angel or something that gave him a second chance, and by pure luck he found Dr. Lee. Most people would've just been stuck forever suffering.
This is a definitely a very weird case. I would love to know what this fluid is. It reminds me of aspiration fluid or synovial fluid but just located on a different part of the body.
There was a follow up programme on this. Dr Lee found a surgeon able to do the surgery and the lymphangioma was removed. The surgery was done for free. Delano is now free of this. Dr Lee really is a wonderful person.
Also, to anyone else: this is the reality for people with visible disabilities or deformities. The job doesn't have to tell you why they won't hire you, they just have to hire someone else and say you weren't quite the right fit even if you have better qualifications. You can't sue them for discrimination unless they tell you they won't hire you/are firing you because of your disability or a direct symptom of it. They can put you in a position where you are forced to be insubordinate because of your disability, or cause enough problems for you that you lose it on them, or simply schedule you with such low hours that you're forced to quit. All of these things are perfectly legal and especially in Right To Work states, there's jack shit you can do. Unionizing never happens for disabled people, it happens well after most of us are already chased out of the workforce and the people with the energy to organize realize THEIR job is at stake. We're out here dying while mentally well & able-bodied folks still "just scraping by". Disabled people can't scrape anymore. There's nothing left for us to scrape. Most disabled people aren't living like me.

There is a huge problem with racism in American medicine! That might have something to do with it. Black people tend to get worse care than other races.
Mistakes that dr lee made: 1. She should proceed with radiological examination first (ultrasound, CT or MRI). That will give you an idea of the consistency (cystic or solid), with or without septations, extensions and planes. She could have some idea of what she is dealing with before blindly poke at the swelling. 2. Given that is swelling is very huge and it has high risk of infection, it should be done under general anesthesia and a sterile method (proper cleaning and draping). 3. CSF is a transparent clear fluid, not a yellowish clear fluid. Even in cases of infected CSF, it should be cloudy, not yellowish. Lymph fluid, on the other hand, typically has this appearance. 4. Aspiration will not help in cases of lymphangioma, as it a collection of lymph fluid over an area. Is is usually supplied by one or more lymphatic channels, so recurrent rate is very high if only simple aspiration is performed. A wide local excision that includes removal of all supplying lymphatic channels is necessary to prevent recurrence. 5. Other modalities can be tried before surgical intervention, such as sclerotherapy, which can reduce the size before surgical excision is made.

I'm sure he's a pretty cool dude. And he also got a benefit from doing push ups with that thing on him so it was acting like a weight for a while
I'm sorry about the way Mr Delano feels about himself. HE is a ery nice looking young man.😊 Hoping that he can get a few thi gs cleared up, and feel more confident in himself!
I find it hard to believe that people actually wouldn't hire someone because of that.
