We were just at the Lucayan hotel . The smaller facility near the light house is open and is very nice. The much larger building and its pools are not open since the hurricane damage The food , beach, pool and the people at that hotel very very nice.
I think it's time to update your review. We just did a Margaritaville at Sea cruise, (January 2023) and only two of these "excursions" were offered. No turtles, no dolphins, no jeeps, no kayaks and you only get to spend 15 minutes with the pigs. NONE of these excursions offered "free" food or drinks and the "1 hour island tour" only lasted 20 minutes.
As of Seept 23 everything she spoke about is available again! The Viva Fortuna Resort and the Grand Lucyan both offer lunch buffets and drinks free now but premium drinks have a small fee. That's what's currently on the website at least. I'll be able to confirm mid October!
This is updated since your visit in January. I was there in March 2023 these excursions was available. I'm going back for Thanksgiving 2023. These excursions are current. Just look up on the website
The Stingray Experience Tour is the top rated educational ecology tour on the island. This is an off the beaten path experience offered by West End Ecology Tours located in West End, Grand Bahama.
The margaritaville website states that they take you to exuma for the pig tour. However, Ive seen many videos on people at margaritaville cruise where they are taken to a local pig encounter not exuma. I am confused. Can someone clarify this? or maybe someone that has taken the cruise from miami and gotten the pig excursion.?
Not much. At least when I was there. There is a cute bar next to the ship where they serve coconut drinks and a few shops. We mostly stayed on the ship and hung out on deck. 🛳️
This ship nickel and dimes people every way they can TBH. By the time you add in all the additional costs it's higher than the real cruise lines on their older ships. By older, I mean 1999 and up not Margaritaville (1991) old.
There are a lot of add on costs. Our weekend cruise ended up being right around $1000 for two of us. That included all meals dinner in the steakhouse two champagne brunches two 20 minute massages and drinks. Not the cheapest deal but we felt like we got our moneys worth. Thank you for watching!

Banana Bay is a nice place to hang out. It’s an excursion for other cruise lines.

Did swimming with the pigs in December and loved it. Plan to go again in October and hope to do either the jeep tour or one of the resorts.

It's pretty clear that many cruisers don't like Freeport, Bahamas but I took an excursion and found the island lovely as you said.

Worst cruise ever. All the hidden fees and one 1 1/2 is not worth $870 for 2 adults. The food 🤮🤮🤮
