- In this Firearm Tutorial and Field Strip video I wanted to show how to take apart for cleaning and maintenance a Colt Lightweight Commander Series80, with a full length guide rod, complete slide disassembly and show how I avoid putting on the "idiot" scratch when reassembling a 1911. I hope this video helps someone in the future.

Good morning, Jason, I love a good strip and assemble video. I have personally have never scratched my 1911 with the idiot scratch, Of course I am not telling the truth. I have done it once when I was a young 1911 novice. I love your green Browne Works grips, which of course I have a matching set. But I will need some mags with the logo as well, Cheers
I knew you would enjoy it Andrew!
The firing pin safety in the Series 80 slide makes it much easier to put the firing pin, extractor, and end plate back on the slide. I wish all my 1911s ran the Series 80 slide.
You are absolutely right.
