  • On October 1, 2023, I was in Greenville, ME, just after sunrise to catch some Canadian Pacific action on the Moosehead Subdivision between Greenville and Jackman. Just as the sun broke over the horizon, CP Job 121 West would roll into town, having left Brownville Junction a little over an hour ago. They had a red GE on point with a KCS EMD acting as distributed power, and a modest train of about 6700 feet. I would chase west towards Jackman, catching them at some iconic spots along the way. While Sundays typically are single train days, as I rolled into Jackman, I was surprised to hear a Job 120 calling our westbound 121, looking to arrange a meet at Jackman. I found them sitting before the VACIS waiting for customs to prepare for the scan, with three GE's up front and another KCS EMD in the middle, with a whopping train length of 11000 feet, about 10000 tons. Once customs was ready, the Canadian crew slowly creeped down the mainline with their massive train, clearing customs over 15 minutes later before getting a crew change out to the east end of the yard. I would chase this train west back to Greenville, hitting some nice light on the way back. I find it remarkable that this day on the Moosehead had more KCS power than CP power; the KCS invasion during the past few weeks has been quite interesting. I hope you enjoy this beautiful Sunday on the Moosehead Subdivision!

Was wondering when KCS power would get up this way, forget the merger is even a thing sometimes!
