    FAQ's:
Q: What are the buttons you press?
    A: F2 - BIOS, F12 - Diagnostic Options
Q: What if you cant change between Legacy and UEFI?
A: If you cant find those options or cant change between them, move on and continue with the rest of the video. What was the result of the Dell diagnostic scan? Can you find any Repair or Recovery options in BIOS?
Q: Changing the settings in BIOS didn't help and the scan passed everything :(
A: If changing the settings in BIOS did not help and the diagnostic scan showed the hard drive to be healthy, you can try the Repair or Recovery options in BIOS or undoing the last update if applicable. If that does not help, your last resort would be to install a new operating system.

Q: I cant run the diagnostic scan. It wont complete or I cant access it.
A: If you cannot run the scan, we don't know for sure if the HDD is healthy or not. We will have to continue troubleshooting assuming it is for now. If its healthy, and if the issue is operating system related, I would then reinstall it.

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  Před rokem

@@nishunigam22801. You need to look around your BIOS to find where those settings are. Sometimes you can change between the two with a dropdown menu. Other times, it would be disabling one, activates the other. Every BIOS is different.

I've got one for you. I have a Dell 3420 Precision SFF. Booting from USB to Open Media Vault 6 (Linux NAS software). Using Legacy in the BIOS, it boots one time. If I re-boot or have power failure, it will not reboot again without going into the BIOS again, change a setting, and exiting. It will then boot. Until a re-boot or powerfailure.
I am using wireless (usb dongled) keyboard and sometimes I could hit key when I got the "no boot device found error" and it would boot up without going into the BIOS. I decided to update the BIOS to latest and now wireless keyboard not recognized until after the BIOS???
I am curious if I flash back an older BIOS on it without messing it up. Wish I figure this out. It's a pain to have to go into the BIOS every time I need to reboot the thing

I purchased a laptop that did not have an operating system and only has a msata card in it. I tried hooking up an external hard disk and it seems to have done something to the drive because when I tried to return them to their original systems neither one would come up.
I believe the MSATA changed some settings on both drives.
I made some changes in the Bios and now under the pre-boot system assessment it tells me that the hard drive's not present.I am dealing with imaginable circumstances and it would not be out incomprehensible that the system I received was designed to sabotage some things. Your help would be greatly appreciated and rewarded.

What if you have cloned your HDD to an SSD but can't get the SSD to be the boot device? I have a Dell M4800 with this issue. The UEFI list has Windows Boot Manager at the top, but changing this does not solve the problem. I am wondering if the UEFI boot entry for the SSD needs to be modified or Windows Boot Manager needs to be configured?

Now that my PC is in a startup loop, can I bypass that problem by inserting the install USB and tapping F12?
I want to recover my personal file, so I should select that choice, correct?
Last time, I choose the latter and made it to the drive selection windows, and selected the primary drive with 465GB Allocated and 465GB free space but received "not enough space to continue", so if I select Repair and Recovery will I be able to fix not enough space and continue with install? I got little confused after watching the 4 vids you cited in your last post and maybe you can give me a few steps to follow to save files and fix this PC.

Hello! thanks for the video! Mine has a specific issue that sometimes it boots up, and sometime it doesnt. My laptop had a HDD, and I changed to SSD, installed windows 11, but with an i3 of 7th gen. It was getting BSOD showing a message: system service exception, and 0xc0000185 (required device inst connected or cant be accessed). I'm still doing some tests. I can keep it on for more than hours and wont give any problem. Ive also upgraded the memory card, now it has a 4GB DDR4 cas 15 and a 8GB DDR4 cas 19 (2.400MHz and 3.200MHz). I´ve changed the SSD and installed windows 10 on it because ive read that windows 11 wouldnt work on 7th gen (ive installed thorough a pendrive). It went straight into dell diagnostics when i restarted. It was configured to boot UEFI, so changed to legacy. It didnt boot up the first time, but now i restarted about 6x and its fine. Not sure the difference between legacy and uefi, and i'm not sure if the flat cable has some issue when I removed the HDD, still a mistery, but i'll keep doing tests. Thank you (Dell inspiron15 3000 i15-3567-A15P)

Sometime it is the bios corruption leaving no device detected in storage configuration while they are still visible in the boot option but once you attempt to launch it would come up as “ no bootable device found” disable ahci by switched to ide mode and device appears but “no bootable device found” is still occurred. Turn back to ahci mode and goes to boot option, select the uefi option of the boot media and it goes to installation option and device is in the option! This leaving me to believe it the bios and possible hardware failure that it literally skipped CSM and force everything have to run on Uefi . I end up swap the motherboard in the end because I can’t afford to lose my data with silly uefi boot.

I have an issue with an Inspiron 7373 where I get a black screen without the dell logo, with what seems like no response from the hardware. Sometimes I get lucky and I can get into diagnostics and BIOS settings when the logo does show up. I’ve unattached all external hardware and diagnostics show no issues with hardware, but no bootable device found. I also changed in the BIOS from UEFI to Legacy, and the reboot doesn’t take me to the logo again at restart and there’s only a black screen 😢 it’s just a black screen with no signs of the hardware working. Is there anything else I can try?

Hello my friend, first I want to thank your efforts and clear information, it was really helpful. I have a problem with my friend dell inspiron 15 5547. I was using it and everything was fine. A message appeared from the system telling me that there was an update for some system features, and I logged in and accepted the update. After completion it asked to restart to install those updates. And here, I began to suffer with it
When restarting the device, the device did not work, and a single beep sound appeared, repeated at a fixed time, and here I learned from the official website that this sound indicates that you have lost the BIOS
I re-installed the BIOS file through an external programming tool, and when I run it, an error appears that says that it is no bot device found, and when I enter the BIOS settings and choose to boot
From the other option, a black screen appears containing a small line like this (-) in the upper left side, and it remains like this, and I had to reboot, and here I was surprised that the BIOS lost its file again. Every time that black screen appears, I lose the BIOS file and there is another problem. There is a sudden shutdown after a few seconds of turning on the device, and sometimes it does not turn off. I have confirmed the time and date, and I have done a full examination of the device, and no error has appeared. The hard drive is intact, the processor is intact, everything is
    intact and works well
I replaced the bios battery and still the same problem
I installed a new BIOS chip and the same problem remained
The examination tells me that the hard disk is in good condition, but there may be a problem with it, but even after removing it, this sudden shutdown remains, not all of the time (sudden shutdown) loss of bios data)

If changing the settings in BIOS did not help and the diagnostic scan showed the hard drive to be healthy, then you can proceed with the rest of the video. You can try the Repair or Recovery options in BIOS or undoing the last update if applicable. If that does not help, your last resort would be to install a new operating system.

Hey. Here's the problem: there is no csm or legacy boot option in my 1.15 dell bios. I think this might be the solution, but the bios just doesn't have these options at all.
Not even bootable usb are working, they come back to the no bootable devices problem. Also, the usb can only the seen in the boot manager, not in the bios setup.

I tried the Repair and Recovery method w/reinstall windows 10 USB, followed the screen prompt, "startup repair couldn't repair your PC", from there tried Adv Options and selected Troubleshoot [reset PC...], took me back to startup repair, from there I got to the six options window: #1 - startup repair, skipped that one, #2 - CMD Prompt - got the MS windows entries....followed by "x:\sources>_" unable to type anything ...if I knew what to enter, #3 - uninstall quality or lastest features - "we ran into a problem...", #4 - UEFI Firmware Settings, I didn't do anything w/this one, #5 System Restore - error msg "To use sys restore, you must specify which windows to restore. Restart PC.... Again, I didnt know what to do in this case, #6 Image Recovery - isn't for using a CD/DVD to reinstall windows. In looking at the setup utility page [main, advance and boot tabs] I think I need to give you a screen shot of these pages, because I believe my setting are messed up. Hello, on Feb 5th, I had a warning that my virtual memory was very low, I was about to shut everything off, but before that I got a black screen.
So I rebooted, and got the error 0xc000000f.
Apparently it this is an OS crash I think, because nothing is wrong with the hardware, and after 2 diagnostic tests, both results say that the hard drive is healthy, no issues.
    It is a Ispiron 660 I3 Tower, Windows 7 64bit.

Hello I browse and watch some of your old videos hoping to find a way to solve my problem no luck for now , I have a problem with my laptop I'm not sure if its hardware or software I hope you can help me, (Acer predator triton 300) while I was watching some movies my laptop suddenly had an error (window screen) and need to restart which I did, it run like normal (logo and loading circle all) but when I log in I notice my drive D gone missing, I check the disk management rescan nothing (its also not in allocated space), check device manager but it didn't show up too, so I power off my laptop unplug the charger, plug it back in when I power it on, it just shows the company logo (predator) then that's all the spinning circle didn't show up I'm stuck there I still can get into the bios but not the windows start up repair (tried it power on and off but didnt work) then power it off open the back remove the battery and bios battery plug it back on then I'm able to see the spinning circle again but the disk D still missing, I also tried manually getting in the startup repair I use the windows repair but it says it couldn't repair the error, then I shutdown it and once again stuck on the logo with no spinning circle, it pass by it when I unplug and plug in the bios battery but the disk D still missing.
I'm guessing that the OS is in the drive D causing the logo only error problem and that also affect the missing drive D I hope you can help me, most of my files are in it hoping I can save it. If I'm wrong correct me and tell me if its hardware (broken hard drive) bios battery (dying battery) OS error (software problem) if none of this is right please help me. Thank you.
