47:36 The fusion trap requires you to use Veidos as fusion material. You used TY-PHON and Memento Dark Blade to fuse Embers, which was an illegal play. It's why I like running spoly to fuse with my opponent's monsters without Veidos access.
Yeah not running 3 super poly in a pure version especially is just wrong.

Absolutely. Have your editor add chapters plus. To these longer videos and preferably to the Vods too. That would be a huge improvement. The content is already good! No hate intended at all. I love these videos but there is a way to make it even better.
In the last round in game 2 your opponent used the scale to search the melodious spell even though he couldn't because he controls a non melodious monster

i just threw these with snake eyes (minus witch) and I have so much fun playing, not gonna lie
1) at minimum you'll have like 4 pyros from your field + veidos for the fusion at all times.
2) soooo many bodies. but nib spooks, BUT you can play a liiiitle bit around it
3) the only problem is, if you absolutely need to use rekindling or awakening, you'll have to do all the snake eyes first and then ashened plays.
4) but with a perfect hand. you'll be able to intertwine plays seamlessly.
5) from all my playing. my build at least peaks mid- early late game. your climax board wins a majority of the time. but if they survive, you'll have some SCARCE resources. but that's where snake eyes picks up the slack with all the recursion.
6) with all the high level monsters, you’ll be very susceptible to bricks, and there’s so many engine cards that I’m having trouble figuring out what to take out for more draw power, with prosperities or even the 1 of chicken game
This is the second time I watch this. I'm absolutely obsessed with this deck.

Ashened actually synergises really well with melodious as the melodious engine can easily make a banshee inorder to search veidos and hero of the ashened + melodious fusion makes dracossack allowing you to do a bunch of link spam combos
I’ve been running this deck since lede dropped day 1. It’s gotten a crazy amount of hate but I’m glad to see it’s getting the recognition it needs! It’s a super fun deck with a fun play style that’s hard to get around if you aren’t prepared for it. Even as a pure ashened build without the usual kash or volcanic engines, it can hold its own no problem.
Thanks for showing off Ashened! I'm the only one where I live that runs the deck because everyone else thinks it's trash. I love this deck to pieces
I literally got back into Yugioh because I love the deck so much. I haven't played since before 2008. Dark Souls theme just looked too cool and now I'm super interested again! Ashened is now my main deck for fun alone!
The formatting of these videos is great and love the breakdowns cause a lot of tubers skip over the little details in their play, this is a great resource for the community.
I miss the days when we could rely on a TCG exclusive archetype to be good before they got their OCG support

@@idkdontask7142 Realistically the only good ones (pre-OCG support) I can think of are BA, Kozmo, Kaiju & Dangers.
I wish our exclusives weren't so hit and miss, especially when OCG R&D team can reliably make competitive archetypes out of 7-10 cards in every core set.
@@dante9284 yea and among those, kaijus are removal spells so TCG exclusives were never really busted to begin with.

Great video, love hearing an in-depth + gameplay analysis of TCG exclusives. It’s cool to have another perspective with these decks that a lot of people want to immediately can because it isn’t an insane powerhouse.
1:05:00 Veidos the Dragon of Endless Darkness is not a negate. It is a Ghost Ogre.
Interesting and well made video, would have been nice to see also the deck profile.
I also noticed that in game 2 of the final, the Melodious-Snake Eye player used Couplet's pendulum effect to search for Concerto while controlling other monsters beside Melodious ones, and this can't be done because of this same effect's requirement to be activated.
I feel ashened is super close to being good but all the cards are like one change from being really good, why is spearhead not a quick effect why can veidos be ashed, why are the fusion cards locked into pyro fusions, why does the rota lock you into pyros, its just annoying since these are very small changes to make the deck feel so much better
You'd be 100% correct! It's extremely annoying because if the deck wasn't Pyro locked, a type that has NO Links that support it, it could be way better
Are you really asking why the a volcano monster can be ashed?
For anyone wondering about whether Obsidim can trigger by activating another field spell, the reason it can't is because field spells are no longer destroyed by game mechanics. They were up until mid-2014.
I would love to see a decklist. Im playing ashened and i would love to see ratios to figure out what are needs and nots
The basic core,
- 3 Priest
- 3 veidos
- 2 of all the other ashened monster
- 3 ashened city
- 3 extinguished
- 3 the awakening of veidos
- 1 ashened if eternity, 1-2 ashened of the endless
- 1 terraformer
- 1 set rotation
- (optional) reight of ashened, ...the rest is up too u
I have been waiting for your follow up on Ashened since your first video and I am impressed
sometimes this deck can be very slow to close a game ,thusi am using 1 volcanic emperor for an extra 3100 atk free summon and burn potential.you can dump it with banshee or you can add 1-2 copies of fire ejection,if you dont care about losing some consistency.

47:34 Jesse ! You can't fusion summon Embers with Eternity here, since that trap forces you to use one Veidos from either side of the field to perform the fusion summon !

You might not believe me, but in Tistina's defense, I tried doing for it the same study that you did for Ashened, and I honestly felt stunned by how much it was misunderstood by the players. The archetype has actually the clearest game plans both going 1st and going 2nd, and its randomness only makes it more flexible, especially when it comes to the xyzs, which act as tools in the same way they were used at the beginning of their own era.
Is there a decklist for what you played during this tournament? Anything you would of changed in the list that you played?
I've been using horus as a side engine. It ignores the board pop, and threatens them when they try to disrupt you. Embers is level 8, so it helps with the rank 8 plays and facilitates otks

35:00 This is why it's important to read and understand your opponent's face-up cards. The opponent could have avoided such a huge misplay if he had checked the field spell beforehand.
I would really love to see you giving Unchained another shot
Seeing this deck go 4-0 at a locals, one of which was against a Snake Eyes opponent, is really validating. Especially after some of the misplays

Because frankly, when the 2nd wave was dropped, no one was interested in even TRYING it
@@cplgsleight1661 well that's the thing, the truth is that a lot of decks that people wouldn't think twice about are in fact perfectly playable if the right pilot comes along and takes the time to familiarize themselves with the deck
only thing is, when wave 2 was revealed, no one wanted to even TRY it

The Ashened is amazing, I beat a lot of Meta decks with my Ashened deck!
It was especially funny utilizing Tenpai players monsters to my advantage. 😂
you should check out Volcanic Emperor. you can send him off flame banshee, and he is an instant 1500 burn, then 500 burn when your opponent special summons and can set the trap that burns for another 2800. this makes it way easier for the deck to kill
Problem is that you'll surpass the 5 summons to bring him. Jesse was really playing preemptively against nibiru.
@@cold_slayer I mean it makes sense but nibiru doesnt kill the deck. I guess its personal preference if you want to take the risk or not.
@@darkolos5836 You'll have to end with the field and a Veidos in hand to don't really care about being nibiru'd I guess.
Because in my combo Infernal Banshee is the 5th summon (veidos, king, priestess, another lvl 4, Banshee. Then fusion to ember, then emperor)
Hey, great video as always! It's super interesting seeing a pro player dive into these more "underwhelming" decks!
What I personally would be really interested in would be Virtual World and Centur-Ion (but more Virtual World; also Centur-Ion without Calamity). There are some people who put those two together even, but that's off topic. Virtual World was one of my favorite decks and I really really like Shenshen, so it would be interesting to see what you make of either of those decks!
I liked the look of Ashened and seeing its one of those "forward thinking" decks is great since I find those most interesting. Ninjas and to some extent Vanquish Soul felt like that too
I did pull an ashened card in a pack and it looked sooo cool so I wanted to play a deck around it so your video was the first that popped up, and after watching I’m glad to see it’s a decent deck seeing that I won’t go to ycs much… but nice to know it can beat snake eyes and my favorite deck: Tenpai!

edit: for feedback, really liked how you gave the quick profile on the yugi deck, but we didn't get one for the ashened at the start of the video. adds a lot to see the decklist quickly lined up and broken down at the start of the vid

52:20 videos the dragon of endless darkness cannot be target by your opponent, so the imperm shouldn't have resolved.
Veidos is just a solid card in the current meta that it feels like Ashened it almost decent. I love a good control deck and the art on these cards is sick. Hoping the next wave of support gives it a little more flexibility of what it can do rather than just printing more bodies.
So happy about this. Been playing and having so much fun with the new support

- a card tht act or is always treated as The ashened city (field card) for example umi. There's hella umi cards tht act as if it's umi
- another boss monster thts easy to summon
- another searcher
- Super poly

I would love to see you try out majespecters! It's a cool control deck that can be very strong going first with searchable secret village and kirin, especially against decks with lots of targeting effects. I've been playing it for about a month or two and have been really enjoying it

i really wish you would put a final stinger image of your decklist in these videos so we could potentially use them as a base. I really wanna make this deck but I'm short a copy of veidos and without knowing your HT ratios its hard to decide what to do with the stuff I have vs don't. They fixed that after geartown because that was broken for field spell destruction versus placement. I wish that worked

Thank you for the very long 1h video, it was clearly very high effort.
I've played against Ashened and all it needs is a well timed Cosmic on their fusion trap. Once its gone, all their disruption is handtraps. Also it dies to a single ash blossom on Veidos most of the time, as you cannot set up the super poly play for your opponents turn.

minute 47:41 you can't fusion with the oppo stuff you don't have veidos in your own or your opponent field

What support would Mayakashi archetype and Ancient Warriors archetype need to be considered good.
Ancient warriors needs a link one that prevents nibiru, summons there 1800ATK monster from the deck, and protects all of there searches. A locked in pot of greed would be nice too, but even then they are too bricky and there effects are all over the place.

@@Guan-wu5pm A link one with those three effects would help a lot, there effects cover a lot of threats and all contribute to winning under various situations. Which going second is somewhat required to play under different restrictions the opponent's board might place you under.

Ashened needs just a little more support to be there competitively.
Veidos is a very good card as is and next format will see a lot of play outside of ashened.
The deck as Ana archetype needs a just a little more to really thrive.

Konami really went like, nah fam, we can't give this asstype that locks you into pyros a good fusion, because it would be too strong of a super poly target against our helpless little baby snake-eyes 😡😮💨
The fact you got 16 packs for a first is crazyyy, I think out first is 2 packs + OTS pack 😆
This deck goes so hard with trains. There's a fusion that deals dmg and the materials are 1 pyro and 1 machine. Nothing locks you with the machines.
The new pyro + machine one that looks like a metal dude? Been wondering what to do with that and the other two lil guys since seeing them.

@@GatsbyCioffi yeah that one. It's funny when you can make 2 for idk 5600 and Gustav max for 2k with this new ashened support. It's been wrecking havoc at my locals. It's either I play Toxic Ash or Floo. I'm a menace to society ik but I like making my opponent squirm and seeing their faces when they realize that they have to break my board going first after making their LP's 400 if I had 1 level 4 monster in the combo it would be able to FTK your opponent.
@@GatsbyCioffi swarm board with infinitrack and trains, then make the ashen combo get back cards to make double blazing phoenix 🐦🔥 and set everything you can and going second Juggernaut Dreadnought and big DMG from the ashened monsters to break boards and push for game, plus main deck for blind second so nibs, triple tacts and ghost belle because of tenpai being so prevalent in today's format.

If he imperms the Veidos Fusion at 52:30 wouldn't the monster nuke of the original Veidos also destroy the fusion? Its destruction protection would be negated there.
He didn't activate the effect of the gy veidos. Importantly, your opponent cannot target the fusion, so the impern shouldn't have worked anyway.
@charnor2727 I thought he did but perhaps not. But you can't target Fusion Veidos with monster effects - traps like Imperm work just fine on it
That memento player didn't use 3 monsters with different names to make guardian chimera. He used only two monsters on field and none in hand

Snake-eye melodious player game 2 pretty sure cannot add The melodious fusion spell there, He controlled Witch and SP little knight. "If you do not control any face-up monsters, other than "Melodious" monsters: You can add 1 "Melodious" Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Couplet the Melodious Songstress" once per turn." He would have to get rid of those monsters before adding with couplet. Unless I can't read I'm pretty sure that's is illegal play, right?
