Totally geeking out on all the rocks and their origin stories. You have a great resource in these geologist friends Rob. I could've watched and listened to Nat and Paul for hours. I'm glad your mystery rock was explained and that you found a few agates. Please more from the professors. Was cool that Nancy was able to weigh in as well. I was sad when it came to an end. They're a treat every time. 💯
If they're willing, I'd love to do a lot more videos with them. They live in Texas, so there's only a short time each year that we have to meet up. They also stay seven hours away from me in Michigan so it takes a little driving and planning to make these things happen.

Ooh this is exciting! I collected a bunch of rocks from Lake Superior last year (inspired by your channel to take the long route home on a cross-country road trip just so I could get to Lake Superior) so I'm going to grab that whole bag and see how many I can identify as I watch!

Our favorite geologists! (Outside the Rob and Nancy family.) I love hearing all the history that the rocks have to tell, and they're told so well by Nat and Paul. Thank you for a very interesting lesson on Lake Superior rocks, which of course can apply to other rocks in many different locations. Wonderful!

Everyone said last year's video like this was too short, so this one was a little longer. If we do one next year, we''ll see what we can do about getting to over 50 rocks.

I met Paul and Nat out at Horseshoe Harbor a couple years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if they were taking pictures out there for the book. Congrats on finishing it! I'm sure it was quite a project. Thanks for making another one of these informative videos. I always learn something.

@@MichiganRocks I did some primitive camping there last fall on my first rockhounding trip to Superior. My friends and I found a nice site about 20 minute hike east of Horseshoe. Those 3 nights we saw the northern lights every night! The view was perfect with the lake directly north of us. Best place we went on the trip, I'll never forget it.

@@MichiganRocks yea we were so fortunate. The only other person we saw down at our far end of the harbor was an international photographer that flew out to catch the opportunity. On the third night the sky looked like it was on fire, the radiation waves were pulsing very quickly like a flickering flame. It was insane, I hope you see it someday.

Wonderful timing! I just got back from a trip to Michigan where I hounded on lakes Michigan, Huron, and Superior and I have several rocks in my buckets that I'm unsure about. Thank you for all of your informative posts, they are what inspired me to start learning about rocks and geology and not just picking up pretty rocks. I can't wait to sort and start tumbling my new material. 😊
That's what I like about this hobby, you get to play with the rocks twice, once while collecting and again when you tumble them.

They sure are. We both have some, but I never put mine on. If you get them wet, they stick to your legs and become pretty ineffective. I have trouble staying out of the water.
Thank you Paul and Nat for the beach geology lesson! The way everything got scattered around by glaciers sure makes things more interesting. Last time I was in the eastern UP I was surprised to find a number coral and stromatoporoid fossils. Good to know they came from farther up north. Paul, congrats on the book, I think I’ll check it out!
I always seem to find a fossil or two on the beaches in that area. They're not common, but they're around.
I really enjoyed listening to Nat and Paul explain the different types of rocks, and it is always nice when Nancy comes along and shares her finds also. It looks like Paul has written the perfect book for rock hunters. Thank you for sharing these videos with us.
Paul's book is more about geology than rock hunting. It's a great book.
