- We've been hunting in this area for over 10 seasons, and we've had several occasions when we would have to explain to joggers, walkers, or bicyclists that hunting is legal in the area. Most non-hunters we encounter are very friendly towards us or just simply ignore us. Debbie was the first to approach us in a manner that led us to believe she was looking for an argument. We have not seen her since this encounter.

Yeah. We're constantly seeing videos of these harassers. Yet we never get the one we really want to see. Them being cited or better still, arrested.
i just got friendly with the local dnr guy. he will take any excuse to cruise the lake. hes happy to hand out a 250 dollar harassment fine everytime he has to roll up too.

It doesn't matter what state you're in while hunting waterfowl.....because of the fact that you must purchase a federal waterfowl stamp.....it is a federally protected activity and it is illegal under federal law to harass a hunter while engaged in a legally sanctioned hunt
Yeah it’s illegal in all states to harass a hunter or fisherman. It’s a class A misdemeanor which is 1 step below a federal crime

Gotta love hunter harassment. I got ripped a new one for hunting township property open to hunting and I checked with the township, police and game commission and I was fine to be there. I got the last laugh when this women got a ticket for hunter harassment and for interfering with a hunt.

Allowances must be made during different game seasons. I dont go four wheeling, camping hiking or fishing during firearm seasons.

@@stonedmason6186 I own 600 acres of river bottom, doesnt mean i own the river, but it does mean I can make it hell for anyone who might try to get up it. It's too shallow for a boat, and too far back for most to hike in, therefore none even goes there except me and anyone I invite.

I hate to say this but we hunters need to have both the Police and DNR issued tickets for harassment of the hunters and wildlife. These animal right and just out and out idiots need to be stopped.
Hunting Public Lands really suck. I have seen the signs up that all trails are closed but yet I have had horseback riders, runners, walkers, and trail bike/ mountain bike riders ignore the signs. I almost got me a horse one time.
Why do we just bend over for these fools.
I have permission to hunt a piece of property that is next to township land. Last year the police got to know me because of the amount of trespassers I had on my land. This year while hunting I was checked by the DNR and everything was legit. A month later a township lieutenant confronted us in the field telling us we couldn't hunt on our property because it was too close to the township land. We called the DNR and wanted him to trespass the officer because he entered our property without justification and then we requested he issue the officer a hunter harassment ticket as well. But of course professional courtesy was given and we just got fucked out of a day of hunting. I figure the DNR officer just gave me a free pass to break a few laws since he is not enforcing them.

Canada has public land where non restricted firearms can be discharged.

This hunter was 100% right, but too kind. She’s an a flaming anti, completely wrong and purposefully wasted his time to interfere with his hunt. I wouldn’t have given her the time of day. As I immediately left, I would have told her to fact-check her ideas and legal interpretation of the laws with Fish and Game and went about my legal right to hunt. This hunter harassment is getting noticeably worse and needs to be dealt with swiftly with tickets and fines. That’s the only thing they understand.

Simple. She has no badge, you don't have to talk with her. I've used that approach several times with people like that while hunting on public lands. Usually after a few minutes of nothing back, they leave.

Call the police to report her for riding without a helmet and no headlight during low-light hours. Neither are a crime, but legal hunting isn’t a crime either...might as well double-down on the non-criminal police reports.

This guy is 100% correct! The lady is 100% wrong. Iv been out here hunting/fishing a bunch and the high water mark is ok to hunt. In fact the best thing to do is fish for sharks and sturgeon while you wait for ducks when the seasons overlap! Debbie (AKA Karen) is the only one braking the law actually, helmets for bikes are required on the levies by local ordinance and the signs are posted.

I have seen people like her when I go fishing a long time shoreline and marshes while on foot or kayaking. I just tell these SJW’s call the cops or game wardens.

Given how involved she is with this issue with city council, I'd infer that she is in fact familiar with the nuances of the regulations and thus knew all along that y'all were in the right, but she doesn't like the fact that the city council vote didn't go her way, and she's uncomfortable riding so close to where hunters are shooting from, so she attempts to exploit hunters' ignorance of the regulations to get them to move further away from where she likes to ride. She tried to do that with you and it didn't work because you knew better.
That said, no matter how rude she is, if she was telling the truth about other hunters pointing their shotguns at her during arguments, there's zero excuse for that and it's totally wrong. I was in the Army and we were trained never to point your weapon at a person unless you're ready to shoot them. Other than in a self-defense situation (i.e. legitimate fear for one's life or the lives of others), a hunter in the US should never be pointing a firearm at another person.

The thing that upsets me about this kind of thing, is years ago, my ex girlfriend was approached by three men and one exposed himself to her, while she was riding on a bike path. If men with guns had been hunting close by,..I am Pretty sure that those idiots wouldn't have done it.

Long story, but four of us for the after noon hunt took the one star out to an area with a large buck and pushed it to him for what he took care off in the morning instead of hunting. The second was on PA state game lands 35 and the game wardens got to use a new law at the time for interfering with hunting.
So why hasn’t this woman been arrested for harassing hunters, which is a violation of California law?
This guys attitude is that you can point a gun at someone for verbally harassing you.
They should send this video to Debbie so she knows that the police are not on her side for this issue.

Years ago We were harassed constantly while dear hunting on State land, idiots banging pots and pans making all the noise they could . It got so bad the stretch of land we were hunting became the Auto/Deer accident winner in the State. Some years ago ( I was out of state for a few years and didn't even realize it had passed) a law banning harassment of hunters and fisherman became was passed.
I love reading about people being hit with a misdemeanor and usually they get a good fine. Smartphones have made it easy to get verifiable harassment charges and the state make a lot of money on out of state hunting and tourism for sportsmen so they are very serious about it.
I hope something like that would help you all!

it's a big plus when you know the law. Debbie needs a visit from Lt. Discher and have him explain to her she is interfering with a lawful hunt and if she calls again SHE will get a citation for interfering and reporting a false clam. Waste of time and money for the officers to keep responding to a false report because people are to stupid to read and understand the law before confronting a hunter.
